Awesome project showcase! Love that it gives an alternative to the impossible to get official Switch Online controller. Also great to be able to use the original N64 stick, particularly with all the options for replacement sticks, bowls, and gears. Since the NSO N64 controller uses a different bowl and gears, I haven't found a single replacement other than harvesting from an original, which made me worried about the long term use of the NSO controller. But now with this mod, I can use my Steelstick64 steelbowl, N64gears replacement gears, and (hopefully soon) and Oudini stick to keep the controller alive for years and years to come. I would personally love a way to disable button combinations and set it permanently to BlueRetro, since I hope to use it on original hardware only.

I wish someone would make something that plugged into the rumble pack port of official N64 controllers and made them wireless bluetooth multi-platform controllers.
@VKsChannel Жыл бұрын
That port don't have the necessary connections for all buttons I think and you would still have the long wire to deal with In the end the best solution is still using a custom board

That’s Jungle Green. The special edition transparent green was Extreme Green. Also, you definitely don’t need to remove that many components!

How interesting! here in brazil it is called kiwi imgur.com/a/EF0i0dF I'd never think that the names would be a regional thing
@emmettturner9452 Жыл бұрын
@@VKsChannel They only called it “Jungle Green” here because of the DK64 bundle. ;) Limited Edition Extreme Green was much brighter and was Toys R Us exclusive. I always wanted an Extreme Green console but they never made one. They did make an Extreme Green Game Boy Pocket though (also Toys R Us exclusive). I believe Funtastic Grape is called “Midnight Blue” in Japan where I think it was also Toys R Us exclusive (yes, they had Toys R Us in Japan). They also got a bunch of two-tone transparent colors there.

For real, all they had remaining were stick modules. Hopefully they keep on producing so I can get one.

I feel this needs a controller pak module with rumble and the battery in there along with extra buttons for the NSO functions. Also, since you cannot preserve the original precision while converting back and forth, I’d like to see support for the cheap 4-wire N64 potentiometer sticks you can buy which only work in clone controllers.
@emmettturner9452 Жыл бұрын
Also, N64 is immune to drift for a different reason: Every boot or controller connection triggers it to reset the calibration. You can also manually do it with any official software by holding L & R while pressing Start.
@VKsChannel Жыл бұрын
@@emmettturner9452 there are 2 sources of drift, 1 is from damaged plastic parts which causes an uncentered stick, 2 comes from the potentiometer where the stick "drifts" without being touched, both problems cause the same symptom that is the character moving without touching the stick, drift as we know on the switch is the second, centering the sticks can help with drift number 1, but not with potentiometer drift, that's why hall sensing / optical sensors are important

Nice tip with the fan cable for modding. Is there a DIY kit for clicky facebuttons for a smaller sized controller like joycons?
@VKsChannel Жыл бұрын
Buy joycons already have clicky buttons
@Ogk10 Жыл бұрын
@@VKsChannel Yeah but I have a BSP D3 😅. It's layout is on the smaller size, comparable to joycons but the buttons are a bit mushy for my liking. With clicky buttons and a bigger analog cap it could compete with the whole market for an extreme good price. Would you give modding it a try? I would watch for sure 😎

Ever heard of SteelSticks64? A version of the N64 analogue stick with metal & silicone components. Unfortunately, there could be issues with availability.

Yes but they're too expensive and never available

I would've loved it if ther was a Physical mod that i can pay for, just to give my N64 NSO controller a Minus/Select button on the middle front. To make NES/GB(C)/GBA games more playable.
