I agree, Naples was the home port for the aircraft carrier I was on for a couple of years in the 1970's it was bad then. I did not think it would have got any better. It got to a point I would not go ashore when I had the chance. The boat was clean, the port sucked. Worse is Egypt, I got off to go see the Pyramids, my buddy and I hired a guy that said he was a tour guide. Took us to a couple of pyramids, a tour of the underground grave sites mile's long. At end of tour took us to a slum area where his buddies tried to mug us. Luckily, a couple of cops were standing on the corner and we were able to approach them and they scared of the would be muggers. But we were still lost in the city. My Mom and Dad went 10 years later and enjoyed their experience... money talks..

Even from what you filmed the city is pristine in comparison to the above mentioned third-world cities here in the US. Maybe if you knew what the Palazzo Pamphili or the Galleria Borghese were, instead of calling Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces "old buildings with holes in the walls" you'd have whole new appreciation for Rome. But you need to first know things in order to understand them. If you were looking for the Vegas version of Rome, or for a Disneyland, you'll surely be disappointed as those places are for the unsophisticated traveler.
