If you have a choice between the 507Z and a 509X, which one would you choose? The reason for my question is that I have found a deal in Japan, where I am offered a new 509X or a new 507Z for the exact same price, but I haven't heard either. I notice that the 507Z has a 4.4mm headphone jack, but I won't be using the headphone port.

Go with the 509X!!! btw Japanese domestic are 100V if you're in US you'll need a step down transformer.

how does it sound compared to the Class A 590 AXII I have? Does it have the same balls without running out of gas when you crank it? Does it sound cleaner or more clinical ?

I can tell you my impression of the sound so far. Coming from a different brand the refinement caught my attention, particularly in the bass and treble. Very transparent, good imaging, wide soundstage, good sense of scale. I could hear instruments at different heights and layered within the sound field. Mostly neutral presentation with a touch of warmth. The micro details are very impressive, I can hear very subtle details clearly. I cranked the volume my first night and it delivers when in the mood to party. Put on some Ramstein and the scale was huge. Effects were layered in a ethereal fashion enveloping around powerful guitars which created space of sound separate from the instruments. You can hear the most subtle nuances of the vocals like lips and chestiness, really very impressive. I find when the volume is lower is sounds polite and composed.

@@Dirtydunton thanks your comment really helped me out. one question how musical and dynamic is the amp? my current hegel sounds a bit too warm, flat and boring and so i'm looking for something with more excitement and forwardness.

@@iamthewizard2I have the 509z and it's definitely dynamic. Not too forward.

Why the absurd US-Japan price differential? If you can answer that to my satifaction, I'll buy it. Here is the price comparison for L-509Z Buy in US: 13,625 USD Buy in Japan: 7,200 USD → 47% difference.

Generally speaking, it's a 2 way street when it comes to price discrepancies. There are American made products offered in other parts of the world that come with a higher price than here (USA) as well. Obviously shipping is a major contributor to that, but also international trade, tariffs, etc..

Everyone who has reviewed this has said the same thing. The most clearest and best amp ever. Then there is the Technics SU -R1000/G700 which take it to another level with their catridge calibration for the phono.

Will Luxman be coming out with a L-509Z?

We’ll have to wait and see! If they do, i expect it to compete with some of the best integrated’s on the market!

I see 2 from Japan on eBay...

@@ThousandThrills I would highly recommend working with your local dealer. Lots of fakes in the high end audio market. Your local, authorized dealer, can give you the latest information and also ensure you purchase the product with the full manufacturers warranty

@@lukesumerford2084 oh yeah thanks, I would never be able to trust eBay for a big purchase like this anyway...and my budget will probably stop at 5000$ anyway, hope the new Yamaha rn2000a will be good enough...don't think I'll get the used luxman I saw at 3400$ either...I never buy used. Have a great evening!

Yes but the price is very high.

You lost me after the price was revealed. At that price range, it does not even have phono 1 and phono 2. My 40 year old Realistic STA-2080 keeps on working and it has phono 1 and phono 2. Cheers!

When you have the financial means to buy such a beast, your auditory perception normally only perceives between 100 and 8000 hz ! To spend all that money for so little, isn't that like giving jam to pigs ? 🙄
