I am from Bonn and therefore witnessed his coaching for a while now. Although the offensive schemes you broke down definitely are important to his coaching, but imo his style of holding everyone acountable and thriving for perfection are the key factors for his success. He was really hard on his players often calling timeouts immediately after only one dumb mistake from one of his players. He also pushed his team to play the whole game as hard as possible even when they were up bigtime. Plus imo his defensive Style of allways pressuring the ball and helping eachother allot were most important for the great teamperformance. So i think Iisalos main strength is his coaching personality not any Special offensive system, although he off course is really competent. Otherwise the Players wouldn't follow him this passionately. Really Hope he becomes headcoach of a promissing team in the NBA soon. I will definitely be rooting for hin.

You forget to mention 1 very important thing; When you can score your points fast and seemingly easy while your opponents have to use their full shot clock, you have the upper hand mentally. Thats how for example Partizan lost 2 seasons ago in the play off against Real. Even when +/-20 points up, you never had the feeling that Real was lost. When they scored it looked easy while Partizan had to make crazy plays to score.

Slip screen is the terminology used for a fake screen where the screener is slipping to go in the direction of the basket> Ghost screen is when, as shown on the pick, the screen keep his momentum to go 'pop' outside of the 3 point arch

I kind of love your review of an assistant coach. It isn't uncommon, but a Euro, you, reviewing an assistant Euro coach in the NBA is a spin. Euro's are proven to belong in the NBA easily. But a Euro coach review expands the demeanor. Good job. We have a Euro fan here in Dallas that has worn me out with his love for Luka. None the less, I guess he belongs. I like your expanded view better. The court is different there, the fans are different, and the coaching seems to be very, very good. It translates very good to the biggest league in the world. This review, or video, works for me. Good job friend.

This is a great video! Additionally, aren’t the Gortat screen, offensive rebounds and the cuts quite obvious things to do that NBA teams should learn from the Euroleague teams? I see these quite often even in high school basketball games in Europe. I do think these are fundamentals and should be taught at a young age so these are done naturally rather than memorised like a script. Just like how Luka and Jokic plays really in my opinion.

Can someone explain a little bit better the 3pt off rebound strategy? It wasn't super clear to me, but seemed interesting!
@mikemoshop506Ай бұрын
The ball after a 3pt shot has more chances to go further from the rim than from a 2pt shot. The offensive team can collectively "push" the defenders towards their rim, which is also something that they are doing either way. So if the ball falls further from the rim, the attackers have the advantage cause they are always further from the rim. And if you shoot more 3pt than it is usual, like Iisalo's teams, then: more 3pts + more chances for the ball to go further from rim + better position = more offensive rebounds

Pro tip on how to pronounce Finnish names a bit more like a native speaker: Two same vowels behind each other are supposed to be pronounced as if you try to stretch that one vowl's sound out, Iisalo and Isalo are not pronounced the same. On the other hand, with names (and words in general) that have 2 of the same consonant next to each other, like Markkanen, sound much more natively spoken if you treat the first of the double consonant like a small pause!
@freelikesummer931Ай бұрын
Memphis are first in points and blocks, second in assists, and top 5 in rebounds and field goal percentage. And right now we still have Zach Edey, GG Jackson and Vince Williams recovering from injuries! And Cam Spencer having 50 points games in the G-League! The team is so loaded that we let Cam play in NBA games only against teams such as the Wizzards!

The best player in Memphis also played a total of 9 games last season. NBA game is so much tied into your best two or three players, and to get a top10 player back to your lineup does quite a bit to your offense.
