Our first home was in a poorer neighborhood. The first spring my husband went out and swept the gutter and street in front of our house. Soon all the neighbors were out doing the same.😊 I was planting my garden spaces and offered neighbors plants I was thinning. That's a great idea! Also, putting piles of dead wood into the forested area increases the risk of brush fires, so having a wood chipper to mulch the trees would be better on several fronts. Hopefully some manufacturer or seller sees this and steps up.

This is Metro Detroit. The population has been constant for 50+ years, but the size of the metro has grown (doubled in area? I don't have exact figures). The city in this video is one that has emptied out in favor of outlying areas, losing tax revenue in the process. Pretty typical of Midwestern cities, a fairly constant population migrating outwards, leaving older cities to fend for themselves. Metro Detroit has some older suburbs that have flourished. I happen to live next to one. This one needs help, and I'm glad to see it happening.

You're right. Sidewalks are city property. As for his subscribers, he has a lot of YT competition from people who clean up private properties for free.
@Wheel_Horse6 ай бұрын
In some cities, keeping the sidewalk clear falls on the property owner. It's not clear if the city owns that property, or if it's some 3rd party. It appears that at one time there may have been a home on that lot since there is apparently a driveway apron. If there is a 3rd party owner, it's clear that they've abandoned the property. BUT, in any case, the city should still be responsible at the end of the day, either finding the property owner and compelling them to maintain the property or biting the bullet and at LEAST clear the sidewalk.

Bigger Elephant - if these people consider themselves a "community" and they're all gardeners, then why can't THEY VOLUNTEER their time to spruce up the property. There are men that go to the gym to get in shape, and think that makes them sexy. No, that shows their narcissism. There are men that get in shape actually working, either for pay or to give back to their community like you do. That is what is sexy. Your selfless commitment to your community is what makes you a man a woman would chose over a bear! You are amazing. (Not hitting on you- you are the age of my kids. Just telling it like it is.)

Holy overgrowth, Batman! This was a huge undertaking. Major props for doing such an amazing job. You have some great kids, there. So nice to bring Dad some liquid energy. So awesome that the garden folks invited you to their party. Well deserved!

I love when you clean up public spaces and this one is incredible. How wonderful for the community garden and the community and that neighborhood, in general. It’s so satisfying to see sidewalks that were once blocked to be open again! You really outdid yourself on this one, but your transformations are always amazing.
