#gottastartsomewhere 1) Try a hard CMOS reset (could be the battery simply died and whatever's stored in there got corrupted) 2) Disassemble, check for moisture/leak spots, test the mobo outside the case to rule out shorts 3) Man idk this thing just rocks and I wanna see it work xD maybe try 2 dimms per cpu and switch 'em up 4) (thanks @Bill G) *CAPS!* So true :( those years the market was flooded with flawed off-brand capacitors; worth double-checking! Dual-socket systems also often use workstation-grade mobos, which like server boards can take *FOREVER* to post.. be sure to let it sit for awhile.

@Hughesburner

Agreed, seems like prebuilts now, they cut so many corners and you end up pure shit. I was heavy into modding and building from '04-'10, the water stuff wasn't too expensive but good quality (I had mostly DD) and it was a slight sub gene of pc building. I was one of the only few with a custom loop at my LANs, now you have so many AIO options, its crazy.

Just to let everyone know that this pc is extremely rare, and only a handful of them were ever made. This was right before the HP buyout and is one of the most sought after cases of any retro hardware collector. Love the video and congrats to Tyler on the once in a life time deal.

I still have warm fuzzy feelings about Voodoo PC... they truly exemplified the custom and high end mentality. In the days of flat ide cables, they trained their system builders in origami techniques to manage the cables. Honestly, I feel that they actually started the trend of sexy cable management. I would do terrible things to get my hands on one of their old 24ct gold atx cases...

I built several extremely similar systems for a company I worked for in 2006. We used them as workstations for some top secret projects. We also used them as backup servers for emergency management software we were developing and you're right on the money. They cost between $5k and $6k. Still one of my favorite builds to this day.

Wow! I had a build that looked somewhat like that, but custom built, not boutique sourced. Anyways, those configurations were quite popular in that era for workstation builds. Sun was big on them, as I used them at work in that time, same CPUs, Quadro GPU and ECC memory. They were great at compile and running scripts, I don't know about CAD workloads. Great to have you back!

So I'm old enough to remember when those processors were shiny and new. I worked for a web hosting company at the time and those early Opteron processors were unique and performant (for their era) as the memory controller was built into the processor rather than being offloaded to the motherboard chipset. The Opterons of that time were especially well suited for early server virtualization. I remember building Linux Xen fork kernels for paravirt for our hosting customers. It's funny remembering what bleeding edge was that far back. It's a shame it wouldn't give you any post codes, that would be a really cool piece of computer history to have actually running.
