I can’t wait till they line up the guys that make this years team. Really praying that add Othmann and he rolls out on the third line. I wouldn’t mind seeing him on the left wing, Fil at center and Kappo on right wing. Kappo played his best hockey with fil and Othmann is just a dynamic mix of play maker, sniper and two way forward.

That would be a very interesting line. My only worry is Filip Chytil is one concussion away from being life threatening. So I really hope Chytil has a clean season, this coming season with no more concussions. Both Chytil and Kakko had a rough season last year. Chytil, Laffy and Kakko played great together and that was a really young line, so Ohtmann, Chytil and Kakko could absolutely be a really good line.

You got it! Othmann would be an ideal fit with Z & K. He can score, he can pass & he can use the body effectively. Third line would be Chytil(serious concussion risk) Smith & Cuylle. If Chytil goes down, Rangers can put Brodzinski at center.

One more thing, to elaborate on my overall theme of my other post: Regarding Edstrom and Rempe: I don't agree with pigeon-holing young players: into limited roles on a 4th line. If a kid ( such as Edstrom or Rempe) can skate: give them plenty of ice time and opportunities to play with your higher skilled players, 5-on-5. The experience and learning is invaluable, to young players. Especially, young, big, physically strong and tough players ( such as Edstrom and Rempe): on a fairly weak, soft team.....in the top six. Adam Graves ( and many other NHL'ers, who were scouted as nothing better than 4th liners) started out as role players. But were given plenty of opportunities to play and learn with highly skilled players. There are 82 Regulation Season games. More than enough to give these twin beasts a good run, up there. See what happens. These top two lines can't penetrate opposing defenses, 5-on-5. That's why they're always stuck on the perimeter. Put the Twin Beasts up there for a while. Let them ( Edstrom & Rempe) create havoc and chaos, while the skilled players ( ZBad, Kreider, Panarin, Laffy, Trocheck, Fox, Miller..etc) do their thing. And remember: both Edstrom and Rempe have played the Center position, through out their young hockey careers. Edstrom can play all three Forward positions. Rempe started out as a Center, and no doubt can play on both Wings. You watch how those Twin Towers affect 5-on-5, and pucks start go in exponentially more often. Yes, I know: Trocheck is not strictly a finesse skill players. He's also a warrior!! The more true warriors you can slide in and out of the top lines, the better. Furthermore, when this team gets hit with injuries ( at any time or in the playoffs): they are prepared, because Edstrom & Rempe already have that experience of rolling with the skill players. Seems like a smart, win-win approach: in my opinion. P.S. Cuylle and Kakko need better linemates. Maybe Othmann ( if he wins a roster spot), with Cuylle and Kakko. Or maybe Kakko, Edstrom and Othmann. Laviolette needs to try all possible combinations: when utilizing Edstrom, Cuylle and Rempe; as well as getting them some fourth line minutes. Spend at least half the Regulation season doing this. Which will also save your top six lines legs, for the post season.

Edstorm has a ton of upside. Getting some more experience on the foruth line for a full season wouldn't be too bad. Rempe I'm not so sure about. I think he's a bottom six forward. Edstorm is easily a top 6 upside forward wise. He knows how to use his size in a very effective way on both offense and defense. He's got good speed for a player of his size too, which is a huge bonus. The major problem the Rangers have is that they've got a lot of good prospects ready or, almost ready to get a legit shot on the NHL roster and the Rangers just don't have enough roster spots for everyone. Btw, if you couldn't tell, I'm very high on Edstorm lol.

@delsanravelvetheart4365 I agree with you on Edstrom. Disagree on Rempe. Rempe already has shown he brings an absolute necessity to this lineup: he lifts this team up. He will improve in all aspects of the game. His tentative play in his own zone, is normal for such a young player: learning the defensive system and positioning. Even then, Rempe made some big time blocked shots and a few key defensive plays: in his own zone and in the neutral zone. He will get much better with his reads, decision making and positioning. It's great to have a lot of good prospects. But they have to be the type of players this team needs, to compete in the post-season wars. More fragile, soft finesse players are not what this team needs. Unless we want to continue to spin our wheels of post season failures. Myself, and many other fans spent all last summer talking about how we need to get bigger, tougher and nastier. And that was this team's weaknesses against the Panthers, and even the Hurricanes. We have the young warrior soldiers in our organization. Develop them, play them....let them grow as players.

I'd agree with that report. Othmann is basically on the NHL roster. I do think Drury wants to give the prospects more of a chance to make the NHL roster so I do expect more Rangers prospects to start getting some serious chances on the NHL roster within this year and next year. It is time to see some of the Rangers prospects to see if they have what it takes. It's better then signing mid-level players.

Drury will have to test Berard, Othmann, Edstrom, Rempe and defensive prospects this season to see who can stick on the team next season. The cap situation requires lowering the cost of the bottom six and bottom pair next season.

If Othmann can't make the top 6 out of Camp I see Berard as the more likely to break camp with us in the bottom 6. Exciting times ahead with the kids.

I can't even begin to think of Chytil as a roster soldier, to rely on. Not anymore. We want Stanley Cup Championship caliber players. At this point in time, and after what we have seen the past three seasons: ...this team can no longer afford to carry players who back away or avoid the fight, battle and hits required to win. With all the derogatory knocks on Kakko: he, Cuylle, Trocheck and Goodrow: were the few who continued battling like warriors, challenging and battling every shift. If Kakko had some actual support from his linemates: all those puck possession battles he won, and continued cycling; would have turned into some goals. Enough of the softees! We need warriors on this team. Not more soft ballerinas. And Othmann needs to prove himself to be more effective in all aspects of his game. Too much floating and coasting, in Hartford this past season.

You aren't wrong about Othmann. However, he is the most NHL ready player on the AHL roster. Robertson and Garand should be ready next season. Robertson did clean up some flaws in his game last season on the Wolfpack. So that was great to see, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets called up mid season if he continues to improve. Kakko and Chytil have always played well together but I'd also have to agree that Chytil is just damaged goods at this point which is very sad to see.

@delsanravelvetheart4365 Don't get me wrong: I love Chytil's skills and speed. And I hate that he's suffered so many concussions. Feel bad for the guy. But for his own good, and for what's best for this team becoming a Cup Champion: it's time for Chytil to reconsider his NHL career. Maybe he can go play in the KHL or a Swedish league. He can't bring the battle and tenacity required to win the Cup, without much more dangerous damage to his brain.

@@tbonet859 So do I, I've always rooted for Chytil but it's time for him to hang up his stakes while he can still live a normal-ish life at this point for himself and his loved ones. Brod can fill his roll just fine for the time being. Peca's faceoff style is too dangerous for Chytil to be an effective center. Peca's faceoff style involves the center lowering there heads a lot more then normal. For a player like chytil, it's only a matter of time before he gets another concussion which I really dont wanna see happen Brod, Kakko and Othmann could be another potential line for the upcoming season.
