I totally agree that the light should stay off when changing modes, it is an annoyance that it doesn't and is my only real gripe with this light, although I would like a raised pip on the lockout setting so that when the light is off I can tell what it's set to in the dark. In terms of the RGB modes, I think the disco modes are fun and I like them, but I accept that they're not useful. However, there is no memory for the RGB modes so when you double-click from single colour you *always* get the single-colour flashing mode. This makes the rest of them easy to ignore and they don't get in your way. For me it's a bit like strobe, I hate strobe, I'm pretty sure the IF24 has one somewhere but as I've never hit it accidentally I can safely ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist. I have the IF24 Pro, it's a nice upgrade from the IF24 as it has a 5000K SFT-40 spot emitter and a buck driver. Other features are the same.

The ONLY gripe I have is that when you rotate the switch from it being off, it automatically switches through the modes with it on. It should be off until you click the button. Not blind you as soon as you take it out of lockout.

To me it's a positive, if you don't remember which way you need to rotate the switch or have no way to check the symbol on the bezel. After all, you rotate the bezel because you want to use the light, don't you, smart guy???

@@fabiogasperini4809 the problem is if you rotate it to turn on the light bar holding it how you would normally, you blind yourself in the dark. If the switch was on the other side, that would make more sense. Every single person I hand it to, that happens. And they say the same thing.

@@SMS2884 When you own this light, you know this "issue", and you turn it like 90 degree to not blinding yourself anymore again. For me it isn´t a downside. I rotate the bezel only, if I need the light, and then I immediately see the mode, I´m in! So, I actually like it this way. It´s not negative at all, since you are operating this flashlight much faster with how it is right now.

Too bad I was going to get the pro version of this flashlight but I can't do those gimmicky modes. They could have done something logical with the RGB like made an orange mode for fog, green for hunters, red as they have with the flash and allow for low, medium and high of each colour. That could be really useful in the real world.

Thanks for the review. I agree on the notch or other tactile indicator, especially for lockout. It would also help keep track of the dial position for other modes. I do wish it had a powerbank feature; that would really add to its utility, encourage purchase, and keeping it handy. I understood the prior model had one from comments I have seen (no personal knowledge). IP66 should be adequate (as you mention around the 3:30 mark) , but I wish they could bump it up to IP67. I wonder if the USB C port is sealed like modern phones and some flashlights, and if not, whether that would help boost the rating. Possibly the side light is not as well sealed. It does look very useful.

I found a problem with mine. I have my flashlights in a cabinet drawer, all lined up. I found that if the head of the IF24 gets near a magnet from another flashlight, the light turns on, and stays on, even if the rotating switch is in lock-down mode. Depending on the relative position of the magnetic field, one of the 3 featured lightings of the IF24 turns on, one only, and if you move the IF24 relatively to that magnet, another feature will light up and the previous will switch off. I was compelled to pay attention to the positioning of the torches in the drawer, lest the IF24 will go flat unnoticed.

The if24 pro has a better colour. Longer throw. Fitted a beaded tir on mine as like a bit more flood. Dead easy

I don't have this light, but agree with the negatives you said. I think it would be good if the light is off, when you rotate the switch it stays off (like you said). But if it's on and you rotate the switch and the other mode comes on that's OK. And yeah just keep the solid and flashing colors, no need for the Disco modes! Overall looks like a great light, thanks for the review!

How about, it's cool? I use it for ambient in my study, or cool photos. Why do some people have to be so negative and dismiss what they can't understand? The RGB LED features are younger people who like to listen to music and like to have on LED lights IMO.

This is v probably true, but there are hundreds of lighting products available for people who want RGB light shows while listening to music. Including speakers. I’m still not sure why someone would choose a flashlight for that purpose

It's a nice feature to have as someone who's a bit of a RGB enthusiast. Am I ever gonna throw a mini rave on the go with my flashlight and a bluetooth speaker? Probably not, but I like knowing I could. I've also found that sometimes hard to find objects can be highlighted by a certain wavelength of color, so that could be a practical use for it.

I have some Olight, including the fantastic tiny Baton4. Construction-wise Olight are two steps ahead, (like Imalent, or Wuben) great variety of functions, many models for specific use. But they're also way more expensive, and their batteries cannot fit other brands, due to their flat-top, and they are certainly not the brightest (Imalent has the brightest one). Sofirn, like a bunch of other brands, are way above average, at times outstanding, and a great value-for-money.

@@fabiogasperini4809 I owned two Imalent's and did not like them The LD10 and RT35. Both returned for under performing or QC issues. They have a bad habit of releasing flashlights with bugs/issues there are plenty of examples on user forms like the MS03 that would throw a red light error and not work on turbo. That same flashlight had crazy claims of 13'000 lumens but from turn on it looses 200 lumens every second until it levels off at 2000 lumens lol. I remember that saga covered by many reviewers and angry customers. That was years ago maybe I need to try again if I see something I like by them. Olight does have good quality control and Wuben I dont mind.
