This couple was in a hurry to leave when gifts showed up from a Secret Santa

The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local Secret Santa give $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season.
Tia and Brian have had a rough year. She recently gave birth to a little boy who, due to various complications, passed away eight hours after delivery. Their 5-year-old son has special needs and they have a two-year-old daughter.
It has been a struggle for their family to cover the funeral and cemetery expenses. They live with Brian's dad, who has also been undergoing cancer treatments off and on.
This family never asked for handouts of any kind and tries to do the best they can with their given situation.
Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to go surprise Tia and Brian with an early Christmas gift. We caught them as they were leaving the house. Check out the surprise in the video player above!

To loose a child is the worst loss, I still grieve for our son we lost. No parent should ever have to bury a child. @@shaz8486 I am sorry for your loss. I lost my oldest son unexpectedly and no one can tell me why. I took him home to Louisiana to bury him. If he hadn't had insurance I couldn't have done it. His funeral, transport 8 hours from here and headstone cost $18, 000. I help others with funeral expenses when I can. I give directly to the funeral home. It doesn't matter how much, it helps. Thank you Secret Santa. Sadly you have had to do this for a few people.

There is NO word for the loss of a child. They have one for everything else,,,,, Widow, Widower for the loss of a spouse, Orphan for the loss of parents but NO "word" for the loss of a child 😔 It's indescribable pain that stays for the rest your life, that's why there is NO word for it.

Even with all the tech billionaires,Seattle area,King county,WA doesnt even have a secret Santa like yours.My little sister is undergoing treatment for stage 4 breast cancer, its her third and final battle. So true, initially I would say the burden weigh heavy on their shoulders and the husband was just trying to minimize any intrusion. But the fact they received those gifts put a halfhearted smile on him and took that burden off their shoulders for the funeral expense gave them a new light. I'm sure they will be happier and more grateful about it later when that grief has subsided. Nate just has a way with a difficult situation.

I so understand his inital response. I lost a son in Iraq, then three months later my father and three months later my grandmother. You don't mean to be abrupt. You simply are struggling to get through the day without melting down in public and have nothing left for social graces. This one reveals how real and raw life is. They wont all be made for TV moments. Catching people off guard seeing unexpected strangers at their door while they are still grieving is as real as it gets. As is the hardship this family, and so many others, are dealing with. Nate and his crew always handle the awkwardness so well. They all seem to have an innate sense that peoples' prides are damaged and that it can be humiliating to need and to receive a handout. The grief is nothing you can compare to. Years ago, a baby that my family had been taking care of died in his sleep, barely a few months old due to SIDS. We’re not even his real family, we’re not his parents but the magnitude of the pain was still so great. I was out when I got the call and I fainted in public. It was a blur after that. I can’t imagine what this couple is going thru. My condolences.

I wish people had the decency to realize how pathological it is to say "God bless" to this family. The god you wish to bless them is the same god that killed the child. And the cult that brainwashes people with all this stuff for centuries claimed that a child this young, if dying prior to a baptism, doesn't go to heaven but to a place literally called limbo but then decided in its idiotic wisdom one day to say that limbo never actually existed. So how exactly is god blessing them? You cannot claim one side of the logic and dismiss the other. If a god can save someone it can also not save someone. We have to outgrow our inability to deal with horrific things like infant deaths and the raw emotions. Appealing to a god that created the mess in the first place by pretending it is now going to bless the same people he hurt is naive. I realize the complicated dilemma of Christmas being originally a fantasy to celebrate the birth of an alleged savior - the date of which is a complete fabrication for marketing purposes - the irony of which is lost on people in this tragic situation. According to Christians human sacrifice is a good thing and for both Jews and Christians they both accept the Old Testament nightmare of a god that can demand the sacrifice of your child to him. Not exactly what I would call a blessing...

As others have mentioned, their pain really is almost palpable and you can see just in their faces how much they're going through. My heart breaks to see people in pain like that and what a beautiful gift from Secret Santa. Of course easing financial burdens is amazing. But, more than anything, just to let them know that they are not forgotten and that people do care. One of the hardest things when you lose a loved one, especially a child, is that you feel like the world just keeps spinning even though yours has stopped. It feels like everything should stop with you and grieve with you and the sun should stop rising for awhile .....but it doesn't, so to know that people haven't just gone on with their lives and they really do care and are thinking about them........ Sometimes that's everything. God bless Nate and the team, and God bless Secret Santa. Sadly, there are many people who seek out family members of newly deceased to sell them memorial stuff while they are still too lost to think. We had salespeople shows up the day after we buried our daughter.

I would just mention that my friend who recently passed away was a funeral director here in the UK. She never charged for baby funerals or memorials, even though her business was very small. Two of my granddaughters passed away as newborns. One died during delivery and the other lived 66 minutes. My mother in law gave them a grave site she owned. The funeral home charges were 10% and doctors waived their fees and one even came to the dear baby’s funeral. They are buried side by side in one plot left of their great grandparents.

I empathize - it is horrendous to lose a child. My daughter had a stillborn boy, full term and it was just traumatic. It was difficult doing my own grandchild's funeral. It would be hard to find a harder working, honest, humble, compassionate and loving community if you tried. Their faith sustains and comforts them through all of the trials of life. This community includes people from around the world, like the person from Ireland that you just insulted. Most mature humans do not insult other people for their faith as they are aware everyone in the world may not have the same beliefs, yet we are all of the human species and honor each persons right to their own belief. You have the right to your beliefs, you cross a line when you attack. I pray you work on your own life and become a kinder person. If that's not possible at least keep your ugliness to yourself.
