I like this drill and this tip. I’ve been watching a Japanese golf swing style ( it’s in Japanese and I have to guess everything ) that teach this hand movement but more into the impact zone. They state that adults amateurs golfers cannot accurately imitate the Pros movement since they have thousands of ours practicing since they are kids . So, new amateurs adults golfers must learn techniques that shorten the way to a more Pro’s like swing. This hand tip helps to understand what they called The right side part -of the swing . I think you’re great teaching this tips. I have improved a lot with the 7 figure -Driver technique you’ve showed in another video and I know you’re tips are for real great !

Gyroscopic precession… the effect of an input in rotation actually occurs 90* later in the rotation. So… one must try to release the club 90* prior to impact in the forward swing in order actually have the release happen through the ball.

I’m now just not sure what to do with my left thumb as it seems to get in the way on follow through and feels like I’ll break it if I don’t stop the club. Particularly with the post drill. Thank you so much for your content. I have been working on your swing for a couple of weeks now and it is working well for me. I tend to cast from the top and early release. Maintaining the figure “7” prevents my early release, though I still tend to cast from the top. When I add in the “wrap around the pole” drill, I again tend to early release. If I actually try to throw the club from the top, I create a severe early release. For the drill, I put the pole just past my lead side. For my swing, I think of the pole as being on the outside edge of my lead leg. Should I move the pole further toward the target for both the drill and my swing, or can you suggest an alternative fix for my early release? Thanks again.

Being a senior player, I recently I hit a 3-wood into a long par 3 hole of over 200 yards. The flagstick was in the back of the green too so that made it even longer. I managed to get a good release and solid hit on the ball swinging like in this video. I hit it pure. Usually I am in front of the green somewhere, so it is a chip shot. When I went down there I couldn't find the ball at first. Then I found it and I was amazed, the ball was through the green past the flagstick. Wow. Now if I can only get this perfected with my driver. That seems to be more difficult to do. But seriously, I need the 20 yards or more. LOL.

In addition to yours, I've been watching a LOT of Mike Austin videos for the past few months, mostly because you are such a strong advocate of his swing motion. It seems to me that he adamantly says and demonstrates that the hands do not make the motion you describe, where the right hand turns over the top of the left at/near the bottom of the swing. What he advocates is an underhand 'flip' of the right hand at the bottom of the swing in coordination with straightening the right arm. The right hand then doesn't cross over the left until the arms are at least parallel to the ground, or maybe a bit later, in the follow-through. How do I reconcile his detailed explanation of this with yours? They're about 180 degrees opposite...

What type of ball flight I should account for using this technique?
@8uvrays2 жыл бұрын
I feel like an idiot. When I was nine I taught myself to hit home runs by watching Mickey Mantle’s practice swing. I called it swinging to a stop. I would swing sideways, my arms would jerk to a stop and the bat would whip around. After about 3 games it smoothed out . Earlier this week, I tried it and added 15 yards to my 4 rescue. But I was doing it at my trail leg. Cannot wait to try it even earlier. I used the same technique in tennis and table tennis and there was a general rule that the farther the distance between the “stop” and the contact, the more power (within reason). I was kind of trying to “save” some wrist action for contact in golf, but in those other sports I held nothing back. I can’t wait to try this out, thanks. What had me confused is everyone was always focused on the wrist rollover and I loved the feel of it but it was so automatic for me I ignored it deliberately

@jbv20813 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve. Is this the same as doing a roll release with the wrist and hands vs a square release using the body? I heard that although this gives more power because of the leverage from the wrist, it is also prone to more insonsistencies due to the timing needed to square it at impact as opposed to the square release. I know you are still shifting and turning but the rolling action itself to square the clubface at impact sounds so timing dependent..

@mattb.60573 жыл бұрын
Steve, this drill is very much a focus on snap release versus stable driven release. This indeed produces much more effortless club head speed however does require much more timing refinement. I personally prefer a snap release as it is an effortless swing however I have found it to be somewhat inconsistent. A stable release requires a lot of upper torso and body strength to hold a stable club shaft through impact. I think a good video would be to discuss where the pressure in the hands are actually being applied. To reference the golfing machine pressure points 1 2 3 4 etc. Educating the hands is perhaps the most critical element of golf and too much focus on the body has really ruined the game for a lot of people.
@Inmotion703 жыл бұрын
Does a baseball pitcher snap release? Would he have made the majors any other way? NO! Everyone is snap releasing....to some extent.
@mattb.60573 жыл бұрын
@@Inmotion70 agreed. Can you do a video that really focuses on pressure points in the hand and how we're applying that pressure to the club shaft? I think it would be very helpful. So much instruction focuses on the body but nothing matters if your hands and lever system in your wrists and fingers aren't allowing the club to properly release or are applying pressure in the wrong positions.
