A local lure from a local legend where I live, absolute game changer! I have even had a few mussel imitations tied up for my fly box by local fly tyers now, if you can get the sink rate right they work dynamite as well.

Remarkable, those 2 trebles would snag over the reefs where I fish for snapper in coromandel nz. So the legend Steve Starlo who has caught a billion bream, catches his pb on his 5th cast. Amazing thanks

I think the reason this lure tends to catch big bream is because the smaller fish don't have the strength to bust open a mussle, so only the big fish bother with it. Of course that probably means you're going to limit the number of fish you catch, but increase the likelihood of catching something really big as you did here.
@StarloGetsReel Жыл бұрын
I totally agree.

What a cracking fish, well done Sir 👍 Your inching towards that 50cm bad boy with precision. I saw young Shroom using a Mussel vibe lure in Sydney Harbour some weeks ago. And I thought, what a clever, well thought out lure. Much like the Cranka Crab lure, very smart designs. With big bream having such powerful jaws, and at $20 + a pop, one might chew through a few lures each session. Not cheap but worth the cost i think. I'm starting to feel sorry for the bream. Cheers mate 😀

What an excellent session! I love the part telling yourself it’s possible it’s just foul hooked, it’s that moment of uncertainty and the fact it was holding it’s ground and not coming easily it seemed just a 1lb fish sideways at first look, but well done! It’s a horse of a fish! For me I’ve targeted big bream on bait’s my whole life,the preferred method is cubing although vibes and micro plastics have been fun in the past, it’s top water that is my goal now My pb was a slender and silvery 52cm 1.8kg from Coffs marina next to the cougar cat back in ‘99, it took a whole pilly on 6kg gear off the bottom rigged on a snood left over from snapper fishing.annoyingly while I was fishing for bream on a 4lb unweighted outfit

Hey Starlo, love your videos. Just wondering if you reckon this lure would be a good place to start if I’m starting of bream fishing with lures? I live down in Adelaide and so I’ll be casting around pontoons mainly and brackish water. Cheers
@StarloGetsReel16 күн бұрын
@@Jack_46729 thanks for that! I certainly wouldn’t be starting out with the Muss. It’s a great lure, but you need a bit of experience and confidence in what you’re doing to really get the best from it. I’d start with some smallish curly-tailed soft plastic grubs on light jig heads (2 to 5g on #4 - #2 hooks) and a couple of mid-depth running hard bodies like the Atomic Hardz Crank and Jackall Chubby, or similar. Get some runs on the board first, then try some critter baits like the Cranka Crabs and the Muss. 👍 Happy New Year.
