Size looks fine, it’s just that specialized tarmac is a long, very race oriented bike. This gentleman looks like he’s not used to riding such an aggressive geometry.
@orangecountyphysicaltherap9482 жыл бұрын
Right on Supermitendo! You are right- the frame works for him- there was some minor adjustments made to make him more comfortable, but ultimately time/and doing some flexibility work off the bike will improve his position on the bike.

Rider needs a Roubaix with relaxed geometry. I rode aggressive race bikes for years and once I hit 40, I swapped to an endurance bike and wish I changed over sooner. 60Km rides are now 160km rides.

I think there are multiple problems but one is the most obvious: he holds the bar where people hold it when the reach is too long. His hunched back is also an indication but that can have a multitude of causes. His saddle might also be too high but from this angle it's difficult to see.

1st thought.. he is just fine. 2nd thought... considering he needed a bike fitting.... hmmm maybe it was a saddle. He look his saddle is forwarded than center.. he is short legged and longer trunk so his saddle is good if it is backwarded. But centered is fine. Hmmm But in this video it seems he is in good comfortability. Either after a long cycling he aget familiar and used into that fitting set up.. .

Cycle fitters make a living out of getting people as comfortable as possible on an inherently uncomfortable bicycle. All these cyclists wearing Lycra and riding around at half the pace of a real racing cyclist, I don’t see the point. But there is a very big point for the cycling industry 💰💰💰

Reach way too long, seat hight too high, the SL7 is quite an aggressive bike. Not sure he should be riding that. Tilting the saddle forward might also help. Shorter cranks might help relax the hip angle when getting this lad further down as well.

@albymedina96462 жыл бұрын
Buuuuh this is so relative… Pelvis is moving, might get lower spine pressure, looks sitting tight and unbalanced, would start moving backwards, lowering saddle to improve balance and pelvic position. Automatically the lower spine would get relieved, with a bit more tilting. I would test with more traditional saddle with pressure relief channel , griffon or romin style, avoiding those super wide nose less models which are supposed to be made for a more radical position for very fit, lean guys with smaller head pushing higher power output. Still will need to see how flexible he is, how long he might spend siting on a chair, and if he experienced any type of numbness coming specially from non symmetric interaction with the saddle. So always safe to be a tiny bit lower to be able to accommodate the pelvis in a more stable position and give enough margin to the hamstrings to told the pelvis forward, engage gluts and get lower spine in a more neutral position avoiding pressure in that area. Having an expensive bike already, The romin 3d printed saddle maybe could help to avoid protective posture and redice tension on lower spine favoring to reach the drops as well. He looks a bit tight with saddle a bit too hight, and probably getting too much pressure on the sit bones. Shortening the stem at first look might bring more issues on the lower back. If after adjusting the saddle, getting into balance etc, he cannot reach the hoods, then yes, shorten the stem a bit, only if feels right when standing up, otherwise can destroy the lower spine. To some other Bike fitters please… check your clients on standing position as well, anot just on the hoods at 150 watts. And listen to them!!!

What do you mean by a bit too tight. And how can you tell he’s getting too much pressure in his tailbone?
@albymedina9646 Жыл бұрын
@@NYGiants4Life just an opinion. The position is not so bad, could be much worst for sure but seems a bit forced to me on shoulders, like protecting the lower back or perineal area, and I doubt would be able to stay on the drops for a few minutes. I can imagine that elbows would be mostly Locked When grabbing the hoods. As we age, step by step we can get more tight on hamstrings, psoas, … everywhere, and get many issues, it’s normal we are not professionals, but when we start to setup the position more upright to compensate or alleviate those issues, then it can get worst, more pressure on the “sit bones” simply because when not tilting enough and not being able to reach the hoods it is more easy to get issues like higher pressure on lower spine and “sit bones”. By Starting lowering the saddle height and get the proper setback you can get rid of many issues, and probably only with that he would be able to reach the hoods and drops easily. What is your opinion? Anyway it was 1 year ago.. I just hope he is fine 😂

Bike shops need to quit selling novice cyclists bikes with race geometry, better off on a gravel bike with two sets of wheels
@Saltydog547 Жыл бұрын
It is usually not the bike shop who recommend race bike to novice. It is the novice who like the look of the race bike and that's how they got into the sports to begin with. I think the fault lies in the bike manufacturers. They should cater the bike more for causal cyclist rather than tour de france. Try to make the aero bike with more relax geometry is the first step.
@MichaMaecki-fv2cbАй бұрын
@@Saltydog547what's the point of making aero bikes with relaxed geometry? They are literally made to be faster and to be more aero and you just can't be more aero while sitting upright like on the coach.

Lol 😂 the bike is fine the fit is fine. Maybe 1-2mm lower the seat post and 1mm saddle backward. The main issue here is the rider lacking some core workout/flexibility/yoga. Shorting the stem which most of you guys suggested is a no no why? Your just putting more weight to his hands! Rule of thumb 45%weight on your hands or front and 55% on the rear.

I always point out diet and stretching are very important. Clearly he has inflammation issues and that's causing his lack of ability to be flexible. Diet helps with inflammation and stretching makes ya more flexible. Bike looks to be the right size, I'm guessing he's 5'9ish on a 56cm, a 54cm he would have better reach but then again his saddle would be maxed and again, he doesn't have the flex.
