If you comeback to this area, try and come in late August. This is when the heather blooms on the North Yorks Moors and the entire area turns purple. It’s absolutely beautiful.

I know this is an old vid but i haven't watched you guys in a while and as a Brit i always liked your UK vids best. So i was just looking back at some old ones in York and Cornwall and stumbled on this. I have said this before on previous vids but honestly you should seriously consider Lincoln next time you visit the UK obviously when we get back to normal but great history great pubs great food seriously consider it. Also just a point on this vid what you said about it being the wrong time to visit Whitby although pubs and cafes are often open all year round most seaside resorts are seasonal so you really need to visit them between May and October to get the best experience. hope your back doing what you love soon guys.

Bram Stoker discovered the name 'Dracula' in a local Whitby library. Captain Cook's ship 'Endeavour" was built there I believe. There was no mention of these in your VLOG. Did you not consider them significant enough to mention ? The weather you experienced was perfect weather for Dracula arriving in England !
@borderlands66066 жыл бұрын
Late afternoon in November is not a good time for tourist attractions. Most close end of September except for weekends. North Yorkshire is stunning generally, and the coast is lovely. Whitby is an old whaling town, and the surrounding coastal villages like Robin Hood's Bay, Runswick Bay and Sandsend (good surfing) are definitely worth the trip. Just not midweek late afternoon in mid-winter!

To help other tourists, if you come to England in November it will be cold, it will rain every other day, it gets dark at 4pm and lots of stuff will be operating restricted opening hours. If you come in June it will be hot and sunny, broad daylight until 10pm and everything will be open.
@solatiumz7 жыл бұрын
It is worth noting that a lot of small seaside towns and other tourist places have very short hours and short weeks after October until March/April. Also in the UK in Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb you need to be starting your days out at 9am sharp as a lot of cafes and resturants close in the afternoon and it starts getting dark around 4pm (GMT). The weather in the UK in these months is usually wet, cold and windy with some snow in higher places and the occasional sunny day. Unfortunately our weather reports rarely get it right!!!!!

Many of these ruined ( Catholic ) Abbeys are ruins courtesy of King Henry VIII, who had the stone removed to build grand houses for those who wouldn`t say `no` to him. There`s one not 10 miles away from where I live. Its a thousand years old and would be as good as the year it was completed but for Henry VIII. As an aside, it surprises me that no mention was made of Count Dracula`s alighting at Whitby.

It's fine if you are a native or live in the region and can visit at any time or frequently. If you're a (mere) tourist from thousands of miles away who gets to visit a place only once in a lifetime, you'd obviously want to get some nice photos and visit in decent weather conditions. Try taking some photos with a camera while holding an umbrella (to minimise water droplets on the camera lens), not to mention you'd still need to use the same soggy shoes to continue on your journey elsewhere.

The coastline around Whitby is really worth exploring - and worth a night's stay e.g. in Staithes which is a really atmospheric fishing village at the bottom of a steep hill. If you park at the council car park (Scarborough Council) the ticket is transferable so we parked in Staithes, Runswick Bay and Whitby up by the Abbey for the same £6 ticket. I think the main car park in Robin Hoods Bay is also covered and that village is also a must see. Good territory for dramatic cliffs and fossils and very beautiful when not raining..

These peeps live in a place with winter, but at least they have a good summer. America even though i’m a Brit who has been many times, is a fabulous country to live in. Have you seen their Thai vlog? Even Eric admitted he was sad to leave, they grew “very fond” of Thailand and felt at home. They seem much happier there. I’ve been Thailand, and if I could get a job there I’d move. I grew up round those parts - there used to be an unofficial back way into the Rievaulx Abbey grounds when they are closed. Failing that, you can get some beautiful views of it from above, from the Rievaulx Terraces. You could have also checked out the unreasonably picturesque Robin Hood's Bay, which is just along the coast from Whitby. Given the weather, it probably wouldn't have been as crowded as usual.

I was one of the people who recommended Whitby and the magpie cafe... i'm so sorry you had a bad day but trust me it's worth a visit. The pub you went into I have been too and the food is just ok i'm afraid. The other chippy is also nice too but closing like that is bad. Even though it is busy all year round it's worth noting that we call Whitby and others 'seaside towns' which get most of their trade in spring and summer. In winter they become less busy and shops close early. You also parked far far away.. there is another car park next to the bus station which is cheap and close in. What you guys need is a personal guide! myself and my girlfriend will quite happily host you at our home near the Derbyshire countryside (not far from Chatsworth House and right next to Sheffield) and we will happily drive you over to Whitby for the day and other places on your hit list. I'm sad because the views from Whitby abbey are stunning! and the pub at the bottom of the hill is like the oldest in Whitby with awesome views
