Absolutely love hero power mage, definitely one of my favourite archtypes! Great vid, Roffle! If I may suggest, odd hero power mage with clockwork automaton for insane burst potential. I don't have a list atm but I'm sure you could figure something out! Had some really fun games with odd hp mage last season with automaton dealing 10+ damage edit: I'm silly, didn't see the odd mage video from last week. Still, would recommend trying out automaton in that list. Maybe even in this one!

Automaton is a bad card, deck already has burst and 5 mana for 4-5 damage against pirate warrior and odd hunter is a death sentence

Absolutely hate hero power mage, every turn, they do a piroblast to you. I don't know why Blizzard revert the nerfs, yet, they power up this crap shit.

@@babassoonist557 I've seen it run in odd quest line hunter, doing 6 damage for zero manna multiple times in a turn really works well. The card is decent in the right list.

Alright, I do actually like Automaton, but I'm skeptical about Odd only because it doesn't feel like the boost it used to be, and Starscryer+Arcanologist is great deck thinning (imo, better than Black Cat). One extra damage doesn't feel impactful when you've got two Wildfires, Dawngrasp, and more - and that feels weird to say because 2 damage hero power used to be awesome. For an Automaton then, the question becomes 'what to remove', and there's the rub, as the deck feels quite complete as it is; I might axe the Dragonhawk Spirits, but that's all I could think of that might be acceptable to pull out.

@@BlueShellshock maybe as a one of? I don't know how much that would mess with the consistency, but I definitely do think it's worth running as well. And you're probably right about the odd vs regular thing, at this point it's probably better to run the full hp package and ditch the odd one. I just kinda default to odd mage as hp mage, gotta get with the times, haha.

I feel like Clockwork Automation (5 mana 4/4: double your hero power) can fit in this deck, it gives you more lethal opportunities. Its also fun to burst out a 10 damage ping!

I like your variation too. Currently I play the OTK one, with the various missile spells. It worked wonders for me so far. Like 14-3 but in relatively low ranks. Mostly because people dont expect and sometimes u get like with the arcane spell that casts 20 mana worth of spells and manage unmanageable board states (even in round 6). Anyway.

This deck has a book of specters and two elementals that work with pings, and book of specters works best when the deck has no spells. WHat if we threw elemental allies (has no spell type, so it doesn't steal a varden slot) into the deck and filled out a few more elementals. Confection cyclone allows you to play elementals 3 turns in a row by itself too

Book of specters is one card and works when it's drawn. Confection cyclone and elemental allies are two cards and require both to be drawn as well as a turn to activate.

2 mana draw 3 minions* or 1 mana sometimes draw 3 spells? *sometimes draw 0-2, incredibly unlikely to be 0 Elemental allies would be wildly inconsistent in this deck. It's great in a deck that runs elementals in the first place.

Idk what these people are on about, book of spectres is one of the best cards in this deck. Don’t ignore the recast off magister dawngrasp, it’s really significant. Just be good and don’t burn wildfire.

Been playing a similar deck since just after they fixed Varden, deck is a ton of fun, but I run a few different cards. I wasn't really liking Book of Specters, it feels really bad when you whiff and makes Brann + Varden a liability. I swapped it out and run a single Potion of Illusions as the minions in the deck have really good value as 1 drops. Frostweave Dungeoneer and Ancient Secrets are also cards to consider. I like to run Polkelt and Thaurissan to try and cheat out a Brann + Mordresh or Jan'Alai. Coldarra Drake is another fun one to try to sneak in.

I do not get Jan'alai. Is it worth to take it to save 1 mana and meet it's condition instead just putting rag into a deck? I am genuinely asking out of curiosity. There was a time when Jan'alai was in standard i belive and rag was not, and then it made sense to play it in standard. but I seriously do not get it nowadays.

I’d build more elemental focus if it’s running frost lich jaina, but I also wouldn’t do that, at 9 mana she’s just too slow for wild at this point. In short friendship with jaina is over, Varden Dawngrasp is my new best friend.
