Due to there long life span compared to the other species like humans and dwarf it become very hard to form a deep relationship with them cuz you gonna end up seeing everyone that you love and like die from old age while you are still the same. I guess that is why in some stories elf are portrait as arrogant, cuz think about it may be the elders of elf realized this issue so the most practical solution for them to make the youngest generation think they are better than other species so they don't get to attached to them.

Otherwise you will eventually end up drifting through space forever long after humanity is gone. Pure immortality is a curse.

No one from now in this comment section checked the date this video was posted and they all sound toxic af 1) The video was posted over a year ago when unless you had read the manga, you didnt know the fine details, hence the general term of “immortal” 2) Sure the anime isnt depressing, but the underlying tone of trying to learn about humanity and how to carry on after those she got close to are pretty sad, but once again, this is old therefore little was known about how serious and major that plot point would be 3) Finally, congrats to Frieren and Madhouse for this BANGER of an anime and getting #1 on MAL
