It seems you want to know more about the word الْأَوْتَادِ ? By its etymology, which gives many detail. First root WTD which means to fix, to be fixed, from etyma ودد and here again, it's about fixing something, to love. So we have the etymology of الْأَوْتَادِ to fix. Bak to its roots, and its arechetyps inside : the W is the archetyp of the Potentiality, and use in the sens of a link, something to attach, so the meaning of particle Wa (and) then the D wich is an extension, in time or space, then the affix T in the middle of the root, it's the archetyp of reflexivity, aswell means "on oneself" in semitic grammar and morphology, and when it comes inside an etyma (WD) it expresses an automatism, by itself. So the root WTD means something which remains fix by itself, like a tower, a stake, ect. It doesn't need to be hold, it does by itself. You see that arabic word structure give all the semantic clues to understand it, no need pics or representation in the mind. An arabic word doesn't just represent an object, but what it does and how it works.
