As a black belt, we do this instinctively, but I've never thought to point it out because I never truly focused on the mechanics. Very nice details, sir.

Yeah for sure! So many of these little things no one ever taught me but just realize when teaching you just started to do it naturally

It would be great if you could include actual footage of the students trying to do the techniques after you just demonstrated them It’s very helpful to see you correct students mistakes because they’re the mistakes I’d make too!

I attended your seminar at inverted gear in PA a couple years ago as a young blue belt and the hip tilt is one of the things i still implement today with great success. Thank you again!

Jon, your videos have been helping me tremendously is a no stripe white belt. I’m quickly getting to the point of holding my own with blue and even some purple belts, and your videos have contributed to that

I feel like settling the pass vs reguarding is the essential BJJ skill.

Great video, I often find being in side control and turned away difficult to recover from without going to turtle but I think the reverse shrimping will help. The north south guard recovery was a nice bonus too. Thank you!

Yeah it’s a big one! I will try to do a full video on it sometime soon.

Dude I really like your vidoes, but the titles are a big turn off for people like me. We get enough instant gratification from being bombarded with ads and social media from the moment we wake up until we go to bed. Jiujitsu is where I believe I want to have something called delayed gratification, where I train and my efforts grow into polished mechanics and levels of awareness. Your content is amazing but the titles like bro how do you even quantify instantly 10x my guard retention lol.

Hey buddy I hate that the algorithm works that way too, but unfortunately it is how it works. I would love to label the video for example “ How to Properly Align Your Hip For Guard Retention “ but The click through rate will drop significantly, then the Algorithm won’t even show the thumbnail and you probably wouldn’t even know the video was released. I focus on making good videos with useful info, if you find it useful then you should be able to tolerate the silly titles sometimes. Believe me I have tested this many times and it’s like a 3 to 5 x difference in performance ( not exaggerating here ) Some of my best and favorite videos I have labeled basic like that, and people who love my channel will tell me they didn’t see that one posted. If you don’t want to watch them because of a title that’s cool. As far as retention details go I would say this is the number one killer for most people in my opinion. So I actually think it makes a huge difference and will completely transform your retention if not already implementing it.

@@JonThomasBJJ No no like I said I love your videos, they have greatly helped me improve! I didn't know that the title would have such a dramatic change for your engagement and earning a living, sorry brother I was a bit hasty in judging!
