I was a kid in the 60"s when these guys were popular. They racked up several top ten hits in just a few years and it seems radio decided to turn them off. Too bad because their music is still very enjoyable to listen to.

Apparently, Gary Lewis was drafted to the US army in 1967 but resumed the band upon his discharge in 1968. In 1970 the band disbanded but Gary Lewis reformed it shortly thereafter and continues to tour and perform to this day. They were second only to the Lovin' Spoonful in the 1960s in have the most top 10 records in the US. Why radio stations stopped playing any new recordings after the 1960s no one knows for sure.

I live in Louisville Kentucky, l cross the river , in I believe 1973, to watch Gary Lewis. Add a place called the garage. In Indiana, Small place only about a hundred people. He was great, and funny too. He got hot, and he said don't this damn place have an air conditioner. Everyone of us died laughing. We were sweating our asses off. And we weren't even performing. Great times though.

It was common practice for singers to pre-record and in actual performance it was lip-synced against that recording. This was done for various reasons - research internet for why!
@ghanasoul5 ай бұрын
@@Emilia-tx3zwJames Brown has been on the Mike Douglas show many times and NEVER once lip synced a performance. Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, the 4 Tops, the Miracles, Temptations all performed live so that’s not necessarily true. However, Jackson 5, and Eddie Kendricks lip synced on the Mike Douglas show so i guess it depends on the artist.
