Yeah, alice is the real deal. And its not the 1st time japanese people slay this genre (survival game). They already did good with this genre for long time (battle royale, kaiji, liar game, as the gods will, etc). You can check those film/dramas if u like this genre.

it's not meant to be compared to Squid Games. The Horror survival genre was born in Japan they have tons of manga, movies, anime about it since ages. Korea just picked it up recently like some other countries did and it trended internationally this is why Americans and some Europeans are like "so compared to Squid Game..." but this isn't it it's actually the other way around. Battle Royale movies is where it started to trend more tbh for ppl who are a bit more niche (but not much, otherwise ppl who like Japanese media are very aware of that) in their interests.

YESSS SIRRRR!!!!! Yall just earned a new sub. This show is extremely underrated it’s excellent. You guys are on to something with the Alice in wonderland comparison. Arisu entering the bathroom and ending up in a new world is symbolic of Alice falling down the rabbit hole and entering a new world. Certain characters are going to be symbolic of characters in the story. Arisu is obviously Alice, I’ll let yall figure out who’s who as the episodes continue. I watched squid game before watching Alice in borderland and I thought nothing could top squid game in this subgenre. But I was so wrong, imo this show washes squid game in every aspect lol. Yall are gonna love it!!!

For example, in the game, 3 of Clubs, they learned that losing composure is what kills you in the end. This is why it's in the category of clubs because you need the support of your team stay sane, or sacrifice members to reach the goal.

The male lead name is Arisu. Japanese pronounce the name Alice as Arisu as well therefore the title Alice in Borderland. Squid Game is the same genre Survivial Horror as Alice in Borderland. To be honest, Squid Game is almost similar to the Manga called Kaiji which published in 1996 and has then been adapted into anime, live action drama and movie. If you like the Survivial Horror genre, there are other similar anime and live-action based on Japanese Manga/Game such as: Kaiji (anime, live action film), Liar game (live action series and film), Ōsama Game/King's Game (anime), Mirai Nikki (anime), Darwin's Game (anime), Danganropa (anime), Kamisama no Iutoori/As the Gods Will(live action film), Battle Game in 5 Seconds (anime) Some of them can be light and some can be heavy in the Survival Horror Genre. There is more that is similar but I have not watched it. There is still a long list under the same genre. As much as I like Squid Game, I personally feel that Alice in Borderland is much better. I've been a huge fan of kento yamazaki for a while that's why i got to watch the series the very moment it was available to netflix and i felt that AiB was 1 level ahead of SG in terms of misdirections and cleverness. Both i love both of the series very much, it just happend that i watched AiB beforehand and set my expectations way high before watching SG.

Ohhh Alice in Borderland?? I'm ready for the ride boys, I always have fun with both of youuu. And you're right, this one, Squid Game and Sweet Home are very different but kinda alike. And all 3 are interesting. The important thing about the shows or animes you choose is that you enjoy them, that's all we want. Your joy is my joy. If you prefer anime, that's awesome, and if you feel like watching some live action shows here and there, that's great too. If it looks good to you, go for it. Just have fun guysss. Great and funny reaction guy, had you jumping out of your seats and everything, LOL😆, watched this Japanese sci-fi/manga (the genre Netflix have put it under) a couple of weeks ago. My daughter who is learning Japanese said 'Arisu' is 'Alice' in Japanese. You are BOTH coming up with some interesting theories and trying to work out what the heck is going on as per usual and hit on one or two good points, but I cannot give any spoilers by telling you if you're heading in the right direction, just keep going - laughing at my brother loving a pretty face. I enjoyed it for the most part, especially the first few episodes, but have a lot of unanswered questions which I probably won't get until Season 2. There were one or two episodes I personally didn't enjoy, we found it a bit boring/confusing, although my daughter saw it already, overall loved it, but agreed with me on that point, however, I decided to go back to it again as I committed to it already and had nearly finished, so picked it back up again - the final episode was interesting shall we just say. Everyone has their own opinion and that's their prerogative, but for me personally, 'Alice in Borderland' cannot/should not be compared to 'Squid Game', 'Squid Game' is UNIQUE with a lot of twists and turns where you thought something was going to go one way and it didn't, it was basically on another level with GREAT, STRONG acting and was soooo cleverly done where the Director got you hooked, reeled you in and made you route for and love certain individuals like MC 'Gi-Hun', "pickpocket"/'Kang Sae-byeok', 'Ali-Abdul' "come on no. 199" and the old man 'Oh Il-nam (until peeps found out, the truth (not me, I called it from Ep1😉) LOL) and police dectective 'Hwang Jun-ho' from the get-go and brought out the feels in you and had many people weeping, crying and broken💔 men included, from Ep6 onwards and was a rollercoaster🎢 of emotions and literally up and down with good character development showing humanity at it's very best and worst. You mentioned a couple of other Korean drama's you wanted to watch which I can vouch for. We watched 'KINGDOM' forever ago it seems now, Season 1 in January 2019 and Season 2 in March 2020. It goes under a few genres and has almost a bit of everything, thriller, horror, historical, political, starts of 13th century - 19th century with some AMAZING costumes and colours gripping action and strong acting. It's a series and said to be inspired by a true 19th century record found of a plague in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty (the kingdom) - that's all I'm saying, don't want to give anything away, but a "must watch" if you like historical type dramas/horror etc. etc. 'KINGDOM: Ashin of the North' (film Special (released 23 July 2021)) I watched by myself a week ago or so, was good too, but a slightly contradicts itself by saying it was set before the events of the first season but is said to be a sidequel to the second season of KINGDOM exploring the backstory to Ashin🤷🏾‍♀️ - violent, dark period drama and scary etc. 'Train to Busan' (film: Korean action horror) - literally almost from the start, edge of your seat, shouting/screaming at the TV, felt you were with them, flipping scary, panic, ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT and EMOTIONAL, best visuals and cinematography, claustrophobic tension, memorable characters, even the extra's, just a "MUST WATCH", if you liked World War Z, you'll definitely love this. 'Train to Busan Presents Peninsula' (Train to Busan 2) wasn't as good, main character Gang-Dong-Won is a bit stoic at times, a standalone sequel, scored average at best, good concept with "some" good sequences, but overall we found it lacking horror scenes and disappointing, was lacking. 'MY NAME' (Korean crime, thriller programme) currently watching, so far so good, dark, but violent and emotional at times. Looking forward to the new Korean drama, fantasy 'HELLBOUND' (release date 19 November 2021)) is another survival series (6 episodes) which is "said to be" more intense than 'Squid Game' written by the same Director of Train to Busan so should be really good, can't wait to see it.
