My missing puzzle piece story of shame: In one of my favourite puzzles that I have since childhood (750 pieces cartoon beach scene) there always have been 7 missing pieces. To my surprise I found those pieces 25 (!) years later in a different puzzle that was apparently untouched since. They just had been mixed together when putting them away and now I had a complete puzzle again! I had it sitting on my dining room table for a few days and was happy about it. Then I poured some beer over it 😭 It wasn't totally ruined but one section did get some damage. I guess it's symbolic for something, just not sure what 😅

I’ve never been missing a piece but I did have a duplicate piece that was cut slightly differently. It was maddening trying to find where it fit until I finally realized it was an extra.

Aah that’s happened to me too! 2 extra pieces floating around the bottom of a 5-puzzle set.

last week I did a puzzle and it was missing 5 pieces , so that was fun. brand new puzzle I had just got too

You are missing 2 pieces, but you did get a card explaining why the pieces weren’t bagged.

Maddening when you have pieces missing from a brand new jigsaw. I had that happen to me. I did my usual of counting the pieces before doing the jigsaw. It was a 1000 piece that had 980 pieces. On the face of it 20 missing pieces. In reality it had 7 outside doubles, 4 outside missing, 45 inside doubles, 70 inside missing and 2 stray pieces. Whoa!! The jigsaw company was most apologetic stating that it was a rare occurrence and sent me another one. Never had that in fifty plus years of puzzling!

Wow, that’s quite a mess up!! I recently had two extra pieces on a different puzzle, so I guess two missing ones makes me even!
