It just keeps getting more satisfying! Thank you, I had no idea this thing was called the Euler's disk. Seen a video of it before and It's one of the best physics toys I've seen.

These are indeed cool. I got one to spin for two minutes.

Hii, This is Mayank Kumar I'm a student of 12th standard from India preparing for IIT entrance exam. I want to further persue my career in Physics so i need some guidance regarding this very topic from you. I'm looking forward for you reply. Thanks!

Really cool, I was suspecting there was something with the plate and getting something to spin without going where it wants is almost impossible.

What is the Science Behind it? less friction due to same materal, polished?
@physicsisfun_official
@physicsisfun_official 11 ай бұрын
I put a brief explanation in the description, but I plan on doing a more in-depth explanation video soon👍 Basically its a combination of many things. It's a low friction and slightly concave surface that continually recenters the disk. The disk itself is made of steel which makes it have a large moment of inertia. And there is an exchange in the type of motion that occurs from one direction of spin to another. It's really all super cool stuff👍

Can you make a playlist of your experiments with sound and do more so that we can under the science of sound and how it works and all the frequency stuff and different materials and more!! I will really appreciate it man btw love your channel and your work please make long videos and please explain in details it will be more useful i'm a music producer so that's why I'm asking btw thanks!!😊

Am wondering how much longer it would spin in a vacuum.

If you google "Euler's Disk" there's a few options, I think even from amazon👍

@@physicsisfun_officialWhat evidence is there against the geocentric model called the Neo-Tychonic model in which the planets revolve around the sun, but the sun revolves around the earth in the center and the whole universe rotates around the earth?

0:22 It doesnt even spin in the same direction that you seem to make it turn.

Indeed, if i remember well (enough 😁), that's an optical illusion appearing at turning wheels, over a certain value of the angular velocity (rotations/sec).

Using the same "magical" mirror as surface ?!?? 🤔🤨 And please do the same demonstration without the close up shot. And without video montage.
@physicsisfun_official
@physicsisfun_official 11 ай бұрын
It's just a slightly concave mirror nothing magical about it. It just allows the disk to recenter. And without the close up shot it will just look the same but be less interesting to look at. And there is no montage here🤔 You can order one of these and try it yourself if you're spkeical! They are super cool👍

The frame rate of the camera is 60 FPS so it has some strangeness with the motion when the frequency matches.

I was expecting the disk to take off. Instead, it stopped suddenly and definitely 🫨😃🤔
