As an indie dev myself, I can agree. I am one of the few developers who tries to make games with depth, not necessarily what's trending. The main issue with that is....the games don't get the same support as the simple, casual games. It's hard to survive if you don't make money, that's just a fact. So, I think that game devs are pandering to "casual players" because they are a massive audience. It's easier to get 5$ from a pool of 5 million people than 5$ from a pool of 20,000 people if you're making niche games. I have to think at this point, that publishers are also minimizing the reach of indies as well to some degree. I've put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this just so I can make the games I actually want. I'm talking - the last 15 years of my life, quit my job to work for myself - grind it out, blood sweat, tears near death, hunger - type grind. It's truly been a wild ride, but I digress. For the first time, against my principles - I decided to try what everyone else is doing. As for why? Money, I need to survive. I recently found out that I have some severe medical issues. At the end of the day, while I'd love to make the games I want -I have to pander to the demographic that pays. I believe that reality is - most good games die because they simply don't get support, more often than not. It can take years to "take off" and without proper financial support, it's improbable. I can see how some devs get a taste of quick and easy money and switch. After all, doing 100x the work for 1% of the benefit is lunacy by any other metric, but that's often the reality. The market suggests that people just want casual games with very little depth that are simple. Those are the ones that seem to sell the best, and those often take a fraction of the time to make and market.

Well don't forget the first thing, you need to be talented to make anything good. You could spend 15 years on a piece of crap (Duke Nukem Forever)

interesting thing i noticed is that in the comic book part of time breaker it said Mr. Door entering that parallel reality lead to the death of all of his other variants besides him, and at the end of the episode the real Warlin Door says "I am your host, the one and only Warlin Door" like it was alluding to that being his actual backstory

I feel that discussion Roshi had in the beginning regarding indie devs/games. There is one type of game that goes viral and suddenly a million copies come out with slight differences. You see it with farming sims, vampire survivor like games, the liminal space games, deckbuilders, survival games, horror games. It's all the same shit

As someone who has played Alan Wake 1&2 including all the DLCs (so far) for both games plus Quantum Break I'd definitely recommend playing Quantum Break too Roshi since youre currently playing Control rn, it’s fire

Btw, there’s a subtitle option that adds the name of who’s speaking to the front of the subtitles. If you turn it on (especially during Rose’s section) you get some great names like ‘The man with the concerning mole’, ‘The self help lady’ and ‘The woman with 7 corgi’s’ for the guests in the diner 😂

To answer Sheera's question at the end, yes you do still get the Man of Many Worlds outcome i chose to think about him instead of "the woman w red hair" & still had Alan at his desk at the end

00:33:56 Rose..or The Waitress is just 🥰🥰 i don't know.. adorable 01:59:19 not sure what's going on here, who is who and why Alan wrote himself this role but the scene felt like closing the loop from Control where Jesse was chatting with his brother who mentions he saw Mr. Door in his dream 02:06:45 this guy is Shawn Ashmore (playing himself), Tim Breaker is the sheriff, Jack Joyce is the Quantum Break guy... and Branch... as the name suggests could be just different version(s?) of Shawn/Tim from alternate realities 02:39:12 huge reference to Quantum Break... ok ofc Door's origin at 02:36:35 was as well, but anyway, Courtney Hope commented her line mysteriously on IG 🥰 02:43:48 same thoughts, there will be some Avengers type Endgame but probably not in Alan Wake 3, I think it'll be literally like Avengers, where Remedy combines all RCU heroes into one huge final battle. There's going to be Control 2 out in ~2028-2029 (Control spin-off Condor and Max Payne Remake will be released before that). And if Remedy manages to acquire Quantum Break rights from Microsoft, there will also be Quantum Break 2 in 2030s. But yeah they have been building universe for super heroes since 2010-2016 (Alan, Tim, Jesse, Saga...Dr. Darling? Ahti? Zane?), their side kicks (Alex Casey, Alice Wake, Emily Pope, Barry Wheeler, Rose?) and villains (Door, Scratch, Hiss...Board? Chester Bless? "prisoned Dragon" from The Oldest House? ). Anyway, since developing one game takes so long I believe the end of the story will be seen in 2040-2050s. I'll be 70y in 2050s, need to start taking vitamins. 02:56:20 it was strange because there was a lot of reading and it was still fun. I guess because you were given options how the story progresses. What i've seen from few other playthroughs, there are indeed quite a few ways the story progresses based on your choices but the end probably will always be the same, like Door said in the episode intro.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but this dlc straight up introduced Quantum Break into the universe. Just in case you are planning to play this. :) Update: Nevermind, you mentioned it at the end. xD

These dlc aren’t to be taken seriously. They’ll have hints to things but if you don’t know shit just enjoy it like a one off episode of an anthology that uses the same characters the same way American Horror story uses the same actors… Thats all
