The old saying in banking is if they don’t take care of their credit, the won’t take care of the collateral. The only nice vehicle I ever got back was a woman who walked into my office and laid the keys to her car on my desk and said she has to give it up. I told her no, we can figure out a way to restructure the loan so that she could afford the payments. She replied “no, you don’t understand, I’m dying of cancer and will be dead soon. I’m settling my affairs while I am still able to”. Saddest day in my banking career. I saw her name in the obituaries a few months later.

I worked at a detailing shop one summer when I was in university. It’s nasty work . Many people are disgusting and lazy. I detailed everything from the cheapest car to most expensive. Back then 22 years ago. And yes repos usually come in nasty conditions . A car that was just dusty or road salt in the carpet was a welcomed job lol. Amazing work , job well done .👍

He never take the carpets out. Imo you must take them out on a detail this bad because you dont get all the filth out. All the dirty water that the vac cant get just dries back up in the carpet or the car floor and will start to stink again

This would be the correct way of doing it. Obviously that doesn’t make great content like this does, because it’s too easy. Not hating on this content, personally I would not suck nasty shit like that in my $1400 Mytee because I respect my tools and doing this full time requires my tools to work full time. The mats would of been pressure washed from the jump, then drill brushed, rinsed off and finally extracted. Also, it seems that a lot of detailers don’t understand the importance of gravity as well. If you hang the mats vertically when rinsing them, you don’t even need to extract and can use the sun/air to dry them while you work on the rest of the vehicle.

I expect that the carpet pad or soundproofing was equally nasty and probably harboring mold. I think that eventually the carpet would reabsorb and wick up whatever had soaked through the carpet. Without addressing what is undoubtedly beneath the carpet I don’t see how the carpet could remain clean for long. The odor is definitely going to return. Replacing the carpet and floor mats would’ve been the most efficient option here.
@SeansterMonster

Even after watching you work so hard to get it as clean as humanly possible, I'd still feel gross sitting in it. It would have to be gutted down to the bare floor with new sound deadening and carpet and new seats and headliner before I'd feel comfortable being I'm it.

Wear PPE in those repo cars. I am not even joking. Tyvek suit and respirator seem called for. Everything about this car made my skin crawl. Edit: I would maybe have pulled the carpet and pressure washed it. Not sure if that’d be a viable approach here. I am worried though that some of that rankness is still sitting underneath the carpet. And also: Ozone the absolute hell out of the interior in the end to make sure nothing is alive in there anymore.

I used to manage a full service car wash and people would come in that lived in there vehicle. There vehicles were every bit as dirty as this one. Most of the time they expected the vehicle to be as clean as the one you just got done with after how many hours you worked on that one. They thought there's should be just as clean in ten to fifteen minutes. Great job. Stay safe. Charge accordingly. Great job. 😊

What? You don't know how much he charged thouhh. Plus he gets a video out of it too that makes a lot of views and money from advertising and whatnot. I bet he charged at least 150 to 250 for the interior. Maybe more. How is that not worth it? No degree and no skills really. Just like 100 dollars worth of tools and cleaners. There are plenty of people that would do this and people to do it for under 150 bucks. But some people would charge as high as 350 for the interior to be that way. My dealer did my Lexus for 450 but it was like this from an accident with a bunch of fat food and milkshakes that spilled everywhere in a fender bender.

easier way on that back seat: (1) wear a respirator (2) pull seats out & power wash it at the carwash (set it in the bed & blow the snot out of all the seams with the nozzle). If it works on NOLA fridges, it'll work on chicken-roost seats. Will it hurt the leather? Not if you use cold water with saddle soap.

I don't understand how a vehicle can get this bad. I don't even take care of mine and it never gets that bad. It's probably sabotage thinking it's a pain for the loaner. It is but then they just throw a few dollars at a detailer and we get off to it. Yea I'm a detaler. I think the worst car i ever got my hands on was one i literally had to chip filth away with a screwdriver and then remove the stain after. It turned out great though

Having a proper steering wheel cover is important. It isn't just for looks. Can be for safety and long term protection of the steering wheels touch points. I have a 30 year old truck with one, and replace it when it's worn out, the steering wheel looks brand new still. My semi truck, over 400,000 miles since new, it has a steering wheel cover, the steering wheel still looks brand new..only wear you will see is just a hint on the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. It helps with resale value should you ever want to sell or trade it off. Plus..it just looks good to have a steering wheel that isn't worn out and need to spend hundreds of not thousands of dollars to replace some of the high tech electronics steering wheel assemblies.

I found the fastest way to clean floor mats .... is to toss them in a washing machine with Oxy clean soap or soak them in a baby pool filled with hot water n soap For that nasty stinking carpet - mix up a few gallons of hot water with 2 cups of bleach and you favorite carpet soap or laundry soap and flood it over the carpet - let it sit for 5 minutes - then run your scrub brush on it - water vacuum it up ! it works great at killin off the smell and the bleach will not ruin the carpets color ... unless you working on a very old car with wool carpeting !
