and that is what people just dont get, overwatch is a team game (unless playing deathmatch...), but high ego players, usually one trick trashfists, just think that the other 4 people are the ones that have to adapt to him and everything that doesnt go his way its because the team is at fault, when they are playing more like a bad easy to counter dps that requires resources like crazy and doesnt give anything in return, no peel, no defence, space that could be aquired a lot better with any other tank, and dey say "its a dive tank, its normal to go 1v5 while jumping to the backline" when in reality they didnt do anything but leave his whole team alone to deal with the enemy tank (raid boss after the last update), too much ranting sry, i just hate having a doom on my team, love it on the enemy team because it will be an easy win, so after a while if i see them pick doom at the start i make a deal with them by saying this "i know you want to play doom and i wont tell you to switch but if you do i will play no scope widow or dps moira deal?" they switch 9 out of 10, and if they dont and we lose, it was already an uphill battle just having a doom as a tank and the chances are it was lost anyways

Backline Trades are great but you have to be able to realize that its not going to be a trade and you are essentially feeding into their team while abandoning your team. so we have 2 really good examples of the "metal rank syndrome" (masters can be included) 1) They play the best game of their life and think they should be a way higher rank just because of that 1 game 2) They play a deathmatch game instead of trying to win the game. You already lost the fight but you go in solo, full hp, with all cooldowns, just to get 1 kill that you probably won't even get, and then you die (+feed +your team has to wait 10 seconds more to regroup). Instead, you could have used these cooldowns to either peel your teammates to make the next fight a 5v4, or just to go back to spawn to regroup.

I need a rule to follow. Is this just a high mobility dive tank thing? Cuz sometimes it feels like going first in the mirror gives a big advantage. Other times it feels like their team just has full cooldowns to obliterate me. The latter is more the case in say, a rein v rein. If the rein diving first doesn't get a pin, they usually lose, and get pinned. So when should I go first? I try not to on defense, because it's risk with no reward.
@sethescope3 ай бұрын
you're looking for a solid rule to follow -- that's the issue. there are no hard and fast rules in overwatch. what you should do in any given situation will depend on any number of factors. when should you go first? impossible to say because it depends on your team comp and the enemy team comp and what you know about how your team wants to play and how the enemy team wants to play. your team comp determines what resources your team has. but sometimes your team won't use cool downs in the way you expect, or they won't play how you expect so you have to adapt to that in the moment. if you notice that the enemy tank loves going first, maybe you should use that against them. wait for them to overcommit and then punish. other times, you will want to do something very unexpected so you can go first before they even realize. this is what makes overwatch so hard but so rewarding. it's being able to account for a bajillion different things all at once and make good decisions at a very fast pace and being constantly flexible and adaptable. it's hard, and it takes a lot of practice to learn, but learning to be okay with complexity and grey areas will help a lot.

This doom is one of those that are like "its 5mins and you have only 2k damage!!! swap sombra" while totally ignoring the 10 kills. Then they brag about their 20k damage in 10min game, when they have 3 kills :D Stat farmer, ONLY cares about the stats from the standpoint that makes them look good, or to make their teammates look bad. Ignore the stat that hides your point, and focus on the ones to prove your point. So dumb
@pushyrummble86253 ай бұрын
nah his team was for sure bad, he's actually making plays and killing or allowing his DPS to make a kill. Also getting engaged first isn't a loss, if your back line is decent they can back you up and stop them and this doom would prevent their team from attacking them when he's distracting everyone else. Also blaming him for a loss because their doom dove first while literlly one of his DPS just died of the bat and then tried to prevent the doom from diving and you blamed him. YOU ARE WRONG on what he's wrong on here.

To be fair their dps mainly sat in the back line with the supports waiting to get killed. Their tracer was rarely diving with the doom to flank or follow up, it’s odd
@beyhydration28933 ай бұрын
Even when their ilarri ulted only the doom followed up on the damage. It feels unfair that it’s solely their fault and they needed to play more with their team when their team made almost zero efforts to play with them

Tbf emongg, the enemy tank is being more aggro because their dps is doing better. People love to forget that if your dps aren't doing their jobs then the enemy tank can engage whenever. The fact doom has to deal with echo on attack while having 2 hitscans is all I needed to see.
@sethescope3 ай бұрын
counterpoint: a good player will recognize when there is an unmet need on their team (for instance, there's an enemy echo who isn't being adequately challenged) and will adapt to address that unmet need as best as they can. this can mean swapping in a lot of cases. you can whine and complain about bad DPS all you want, OR you can decide to take responsibility and be the change. it won't always be successful, but it's a mature response to situations that will make you a better player and teammate in the long run.
@commandercorgi3 ай бұрын
@@sethescopesay the tank swaps to orisa deal with echo what’s stopping their tank from going zarya and protecting echo AND making orisa borderline useless and at the same time orisa’s hitscan dps can’t follow up with enough burst damage to kill either? Now you have made a truly unwinable situation instead of accepting that your dps suck and avoiding them for a free win later
@sethescope3 ай бұрын
@@commandercorgi if you want to give up on games and act as though there is nothing within your control that you could do to help out, that's fine. you are free to give up whenever you want. when someone is actually committed to improving, they don't look at situations and blame other people for what happens. they ask themselves what they could have done to give their team a better chance of succeeding. the point is not whether playing differently during a game would have been enough to turn a loss into a win. you are going to have games where you're not capable of enough individual contribution to overcome the areas where your team is struggling. that's the nature of team games. it's about knowing what you need to do next time so you are setting your team up for success to the best of your ability. but if you let yourself get stuck on this "trash dps, go next" mindset, well, good luck getting tilted all the time and never seeing improvement.

@@sethescope bro watch any of these streamers games and they always blame people, it's not always just you if not the team, it's a team based game and how many of you people describe the game makes it seem like you need to be main character in order to climb.
@sethescope3 ай бұрын
@@pushyrummble8625 think about it this way: imagine you play solo queue and play 100 games in a season. the only consistent factor in each of your games is you. if you're not climbing, you have to take responsibility for that. will there be games when you don't have the skill level necessary to overcome the most impactful mistakes that your teammates are making? sure! it's a team game. but I guarantee you that the number of games where you playing 5-10% better can tip the scales in favor of your team far outweighs the number of games where your absolute best isn't enough. focusing on a small minority of games is counterproductive. and at the end of the day, you are in control of what you do and how you respond to situations. you can choose to be part of the solution by focusing on maximizing your impact, or you can throw your hands up and shift all blame onto your teammates. if you want to climb, focusing on what is within your control makes sense. blaming others instead of asking yourself what you could have done differently will not help you climb.

If this doom’s DPS were better, he would be going like 30-1 and stomping them. As they can’t seem to secure any kills, it just looks like he’s feeding. And that’s the life of a tank
@josephreynolds24013 ай бұрын
This one is shy about applying pressure on squishies with hand cannon. Its an easy way to force a cooldown. Another thing. If the other doom goes into your team with 2 cooldowns, then he gets zoned or deleted for free if you can rocket him away from his escape. He didn't hold his RP to put his mirror out of position.
@vigour67863 ай бұрын
Emong is wrong here, not so much about who engages first, his team was dying even when he was first to engage but that isn't the problem. Emong didn't point out that he was cancelling slam, popping ult at full health in their backline and when it wasn't needed.

Not gonna lie, I don’t think he has an ego. He’s frustrated that his teammates just couldn’t keep up. He’s not perfect, but he makes big plays that pay off; his team really just didn’t capitalize off of them. Stating a fact doesn’t make him mean… we are so used to ppl talking big while not backing it up that we don’t know how to respond when the bark matches the bite.

I have to disagree with the majority of the fault being on the Doom. Homie was playing leagues above his own rank, but his teammates were terrible. The healers barely healed him, nobody pushed the payload, and the DPS kept getting rolled by the enemy, even after the Doom cleared the backrow.
@patrickmcdaniel57563 ай бұрын
But..... assuming he plays more then a small handful of games odds of having teammates stop you from ranking up disappears. At which point it's YOU. You wanna rank up you gotta figure out those problems or be cool with where your at. And in gold the mediocre spot where game knowledge/skill is all over the place you gotta adapt.

The enemy team wasn't much better. Look how many times the enemy DPS was out of position and missing this DF when the DF was within kissing range. Emongg called it right, timing was the biggest factor. The enemy DF was always causing this DF's team to be on their back heels. If the enemy DPS could actually aim this DF would've been killed a LOT more. The enemy DPS were just getting cleanup kills/dmg from the space the enemy DF created. I didn't see a single good play from the enemy DPS that made me say, oh wow this guy is a threat.
