Holy bogey! This is me!! I used to naturally draw the ball, but as I worked on body rotation and fwd shaft lean, I struggle with hooks and slices, especially with long clubs! Understanding what's closing and opening the face is HUGE.

Dude. Wow. The simple explanation with your wrists at set up and then flattening as they go back is a game changer. I used to be scratch and now struggle to get in the 70s after years of not playing. That motion of not getting an extreme bowed wrist but more flat at the top of the swinging and then down releasing through impact is an unbelievable feeling. Otherwise I was struggling huge with a chicken wing and ball contact issues either snap hooking the release or trying to find the timing and hitting a huge push slice. This move with the wrists is huge. COGORNO GOLF 🙏

I have a naturally strong grip and the club face is always slightly closed on my takeaway but I make sure the face points down at the ball and then let the hands/arms release but remembering to look down and behind the ball, keeping your posture and don't early extend. The body will naturally do the rest. Great video, Eric 👌🏻

Thank you!! You CAN do these with wedges (if you miss weak right) ...BUT I would be looking for VERY LITTLE curve with wedges If you hit them straight already I wouldn't do this. If you miss right (especially a curve right) then I would

Hey! Yeah would be easy to fix if we could see whats causing it....send swings in to www.cogornogolf.com so we can fix Some things that may help here 1. Keep the TOE of the club to the RIGHT of the heel 2. Right arm UNDER left for LONGER with right shoulder down 3. Arm rotation for me is the hardest part - spent years very steep and having to hold the face off to keep the ball from smoother hooking. My brain still struggles letting me whip that toe thru in order to hit the draw because it feels like it would be a huge pull hook, even though my path is now in to out. 😢😢

This is no shade just trying to have a discussion, what is wrong with playing a strong fade? It seems that a lot of coaches really like the draw but for me a fade usually tends to be more controllable so is playing a draw actually better overall? That being said I do shoot in the high 80s but i think it’s an interesting topic
@CogornoGolfАй бұрын
Yo! Nothing wrong at all if the player is good with that!! Just generally speaking for this video lets say 90% of golfers have "too much fade" or "slice" of some kind. So most of them need some draw "elements"....not necessarily to get to a draw but just to get to straightish or less fade Most great players I've worked with over my 15 years have gone from slice to fade to draw to hook back to straightish
@AlanStrong-t4z2 ай бұрын
As Eric I shoot low 80 s. Bad shot is overdraw. Hook. I think it is right shoulder moving towards the ball w a closed clubface. Any of ur videos explain this problem
@markkalinowski21802 ай бұрын
I have the same problem after a rotator cuff injury to my lead shoulder. Best I can figure is the bad overdraw/hook is due to ripping the lead shoulder through and around (to avoid pain and get lost distance) while being out of sync with upper body and arms through impact. When I do this, it feels like even my shoulders aren't in sync with each other and that the lead shoulder moves out and around while the trail shoulder stays behind in line with my target line. Weird....
@CogornoGolf2 ай бұрын
Hey! Yeah unfortunately it could be SEVERAL things causing this At the end of the day an overdraw is a club face that gets TOO CLOSED to the path.....usually paired with a path too far to the right So I would look at all 3 of the elements above but REVERSE them for you.....which do you OVER DO that you could pull back on to fix hook? I could fix it in 5 min if I could see your swing.....find a good coach in person or send swings to www.cogornogolf.com should be EASY to identify whats causing and to fix Some things that may help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fn66omCNj7dgZs0&pp=ygUVRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGZpeCBob29r kzbin.info/www/bejne/e567qGCPmqlmaJY&pp=ygUVRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGZpeCBob29r kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpqqk5tniN51jrs&pp=ygUdRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIHJpZ2h0IGFybSB3aW5kb3c%3D kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5nLfIani9aejZI&pp=ygUpRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGZvbGxsb3cgdGhyb3VnaCBzd2luZyBzdHlsZXM%3D

@CogornoGolf2 ай бұрын
Hey bob sounds like you are not closing the club face enough to the path DURING THE SWING To make them curve back left! I would add one of the 3 elements I mention here to keep closing the face MORE IN SWING to get it to curve Straight right means your path is in to out but the club face is SQUARE to that not CLOSED TO IT through impact
