My drone shrinks to hit smaller gaps too, but mine can only do it once and it leaves carbon fiber bits scattered about...

Would have loved to see a 360 kamera on it. Might look fun when motors just vanish suddenly. Easy way to break the camera too probably.

Maybe servos to lock/unlock the arms so that the lock pins, which could be 3d printed, carbon, or even metal, could bear the forces of a crash and allow the frame to behave somewhat normally until you're ready to squid

draws extra power and more weight. horrible idea altogether. pretty sure this drone was made as a joke and not an actual drone.

It's kinda like one of the ornithopters in Dune going into dive mode xD You coooooould get through the stability issue by getting the arms to swing rearward rather than down. Think something like the Speedybee Mario 8. It might even be a stronger axis to hinge the arms on. That way, they at least maintain the same thrust vector straight down and also make the folded size much more practical for diving gaps as it'll be smallest in the direction you can see! Edit: and if you're reeeeeally clever, you could design it with strong servos so you can switch between X, Deadcat and 'Dive mode' configs on a 3pos switch. Now THAT would be interesting to see.

Shawn I have an ideal but it’s a lot to explain. I actually sent an email to rotoriot to send you. It’s was like a faraday cage for the flight controller. I don’t know if it will work.

a sphere of props/motors that all face outwards so you could hang in place in any position if you know your surrounding i envision you can make those robotarm like movement with it,all in one horizontal plane or kind of like centre to one place to another like a hummingburd orrr, like how the old game ''forsaken'' works

@@stinkerton nice thanks i looked at it, thats exactly what i ment sounds like screaming kittens from hell ;) i bet you can make some creative shots done with that not possible with drones or 3d flight. not really fast but slow cinematic looking at stuff doing crazy angles like a bunch of nice parked cars and higlight certain spot going to one spot to the other like it some game car selector menu or something XD
