I have only just sent the email today to Vitilan. They asked for me to test a few things and for my frame number and address. They are now sending s new sensor (which i might not need - I may be able to adjust something but i haven't had the time). All in all a quick process so far but I'll keep you updated.

A trick to centering the brake calipers on the rotors is with the bolts loose and the Caliper "floating" have someone pull the handle to apply the brakes with the bolts loose, this will center the pads, with the brakes held then tighten the bolts. job done.

The sensor probably just needs to be moved along a few millimetres where it's screwed to the bottom of the brake lever.

The brake lights were going off and on when he was keeping the controller, which suggests a brake wiring harness fault. The fact that it worked well for most of the day is a bit worrying though. Was the controller over heating on the higher wattage setting?

​@@chrisliddiard725I don't think it's got anything to do with the controller. When I unplug the brake sensor (that cuts throttle when the brake is pulled) everything works perfectly.

brake cutoff sensor, probably a bad wire, i had this very thing happen on my bike, had to replace the sensor wire

thanks for this review this was another one on the shortlist!! Your hill climb seems to suggest the torque is higher than 65 nm . it was only just behind the L20? Would also love to hear you thoughts on why you like certain things on e-bikes. eg. why you tend to like cadence to torque sensors or why all your bikes tend to be hub motor vs mid drive etc- Some people worry about the sudden power of cadence sensors say when cornering? Also most bikes seem to be between 34-38 kg does it actually matter with an ebike (with a charged battery) ? thank you very much for all the awesome reviews

I prefer cadence as I don't want to feel like I have to always try to get the full power. So if a bike has a torque sensor and throttle that's not too bad but I also don't want to hold the throttle all the time. So ideally I'd like to throttle up to full speed then ghost pedal to maintain the speed. That's because I'm lazy though. Those who like to try but have the motor make them feel stronger might prefer a torque sensor. But you can still do that with cadence just decrease the level of power. I don't think cadence kicking in on corners is much of an issue it's not that much power really. A bigger problem would be if you were pushing a bike slowly and it suddenly kicked in when you're not on it. I tend to get hub drives simply because they're cheaper and most of the bikes I get sent are budget bikes. I do have a mid drive bike coming in the next couple of weeks. As for torque numbers, I don't really know which are accurate so I just rely on the hill climb list 😂

@@e-VRC Thanks for the reply I think your approach with everything makes ebiking really accessible. a lot of people will think the same about cadence sensors and throttle use and that's probably how it needs to be for e-bikes to be a viable alternative to cars so I totally agree. I also think your channel has a huge bank of bikes and you go up sandy lane and a test them on flats and brakes etc it makes it so easy to compare different bikes I really like it! was thinking about this L5 but wasn't sure about the power/torque but now I cans see how that actually it's really good actually. I'm really impressed with it. last one on the list is the himiway A7pro. Hopefully I can use one of your affiliate links though as it's really helped me decide which bike to get ! best wishes

My experience is that Vitilan makes it very difficult to get warranty service. If you are not able to produce videos on the level of this KZbin video they will not provide any support. Not everyone has the ability to create videos like this. My suggestion is buyer be aware. If you buy a bike from this company you are probably on your own when it comes to after purchase support.

The brakes could be a problem with the magnetic brake sensor, i had it on my Engwe, it just needs adjusting, there should be a lot of info about this online when you look for Engwe brake sensor issue, ive not had my Engwe for a while so i forget how to do it, but i think its a little nut under the hydraulic brake reservoir, if you adjust it out a little the magnets move apart a bit and are not as sensitive. Let me know if thats working for you?

My Engwe fails to deliver the power in the rain , they need to do something in relation to damp and wet conditions .I have seen many people complaining about this in KZbin Vids .Apart from that it is a pretty good looking bike , but i hate the Julian Clary basket at the front .

@@e-VRC Could be dampness in the battery but there is a distinct lack of power when it`s raining .I usually stop the bike remove the battery and take a dry cloth over the pins .This usually corrects the problem

AERO seat post - feature from bikes with 5x bigger price tag ;) Round profiles (tubular) are worst for aerodynamic.
