this is my first souls game, i had the game for 2 years, I quit playing so many times and restarted like 5 times but with the DLC coming out I've finally decided to commit last month, still playing through my playthrough 140 hours in and finally beat Malenia yesterday after 9 hours (I committed to not using summons or magic at all) and that was the most rewarding feeling I've ever felt in my life

A few things Nick should know. When you hear the bell “dong” noise that means the enemy is staggered and you can L1 right in front for a crit. The jelly poisoned him which is why his health kept ticking down (jelly got final hit on him lol). Also look into improving flasks with golden seeds and sacred tears

When you break an enemies stance, they get stunned and you can perform a special assassination like attack on them with R1 by standing up close in front or behind them that takes a huge chunk of their health. It is the way, and is what you did without realizing. Next time, get Timmy to fight the boss with you. Clocky too. Would be comedy gold

There’s a sound that comes up when you stun an enemy, thats your queue to run up to them and hit a light attack to trigger an execution style animation. Some enemies show show a glowing orange light when they’re stunned. Thats where the attack needs to land.

Nick! Loving the playthrough! A word of advice about something I haven't seen you take advantage of: critical hits! Every once in a while you'll notice you break your enemy's poise and they either fall or slouch over (there's a sound que as well). When this happens, go directly in front of the enemy and hit RB/R1 for a crit/BIG damage. KEEP IT UP!!

You Staggered him, your jumping and heavy attacks break his Poise, when an enemy goes down on a knee, run up and do that Critical attack you did. Your sword also builds up Bleeding and that'll Crit too sometimes

Nick you gotta jump attack that increases damagae and u can dual hand 2 swords which will again increase damage and when bosses are stunned you can go press r1 to guve finisher( not all but most bosses)

Nick, when you hear the sound like at 19:41 you staggered the enemy.... so they're not fighting back and you can go to that golden glowing point on their body (or their head, when they're more or less human), press R1 and hit a critical hit that slaps, as you did in 22:31.... just saying

Nick use that sword with a shield and do shield counters (R2 after a block). It's way easier to play like that instead of two handing it. And you gotta stop panic rolling so much. Be more patient and learn their moves and their timing. You got this bro

When you stagger them you can go in for a finisher, and that was how you chunked his health. Charged heavy attacks and jumping heavy attacks stagger hard, so try to find open spots for those. 👍🏻

A lot of bosses become way easier when you learn to be comfortable staying close and strafing out of hit boxes versus using endurance to doge not being able to attack. Also, upgrading weapons in the long run becomes much more important than leveling up to a certain point. When you get to liernia run to war master Iji to get somber stones 1-4 for that bloodhounds fant

So much for you to learn bro, you hit him with a bleed proc off the stagger. You have to take advantage of your staggers more, you can beat this game without summons, you just need to learn some vital things. Staggers are important, bleed benefits from constant successive hits, certain bosses want you rotating to certain directions, close or far, look for the right strategy. You got this!

Hey Nick, if you want to see someone else play it so you can study how to beat the boss fight, you should go watch gino machino, he does elden ring content all the time, this game us all about timing, I went from using summons every boss fight to learning hoe to solo it by studying the patterns of the fight. Once you get the patterns down its smooth sailing!
