I have an Australian built Green Field ride on mower 2000 model with a Briggs and Stratton Intek 17 horsepower & I have never removed the plug or changed it I'm just waiting to see how long it will last, still runs like a clock, has done an enormous amount of work.

Martin brought the mower back to life. I do hope he put in heavy oil this time. I use 40 SAE in old engines, or add STP to protect worn parts. Anything less can easily slip out the exhaust.

Depending on how severe a knock is you can sometimes get away with it if caught in time but the lawnmower engine was knackered and good as scrap now.

I have had loads of Briggs and Stratton quantums do the same or they ark in the bore then smoke usually I can hear the start of the oil burn sounds like a misfire from the oil getting on the plug..

I took a punt on a Honda Strimmer from ebay off a con man and the oil turned grey and it was down on power and smoking I'm guessing the little Honda had crank issues Martin, I traded it in for a brand new Honda. Lesson learned don't spend a few dollar on ebay

Did you service this mower I.e check the oil level before you started cutting the lawn this year Martin and when it started to knock and smoke did you check the dipstick for level or just carry on using the mower

I too have the later rear lights on my 2003 ghia. Got them on ebay second hand and it passed the mot so the reflectors must be built in. Not sure if it's just a safety measure. Also Martin, when you jack up your st220 do you put the axle stands on the subframe. Cheers mate. Martin H.

When the oil gets low don't it have a safety lock to stop you starting it I had it on my petrol jet wash I started it with hardly no oil then it cut out and pull start was solid until I filled it up with oil then it worked fine again ?

Here in the UK we have 10mm and 13mm instead of the 3/8" and 1/2" you get in the states and Canada bud.
