This Engine Was About to Spin A Rod Bearing! | LandCruiser Engine Teardown Part 2

Now that the Engine has been removed, we need to investigate what went wrong, and more importantly, get these heads to my local machine shop for some clean up! Check below for a full copy of the FSM provided by BirfMark from the iH8Mud forum!

It comes off if you do it correctly, they're pretty hard to get off. The if you prevent the harmonic balancer from moving it will let you do it with a breaker bar when it's mounted to a car and the engine mounts, no idea about the engine stand, probably pneumatic is best.

When I did the lower oil pan, I whacked it with a dead blow hammer on the sides and it loosened it up.

Yeah usually that's the better idea, I knew I had a new pan though so I just wedged it off. Also I just recently got a soft hammer after this occurred 😂

My pulley came off no issue. No puller required.

I've seen a lot worse, it needs attention from a machine shop to get cleaned up, but definitely salvageable.

My crank pulley came off easily as well. You may still want to replace the harmonic balancer simply because it has rubber in it and after so may years, any rubber component should be replaced.

Nice work bro, just found your channel. I am losing coolant slowly from somehwere but IDK if its the head gasket. my reservoir isnt bubbling and my oil isnt milky.

Thanks! Appreciate the comment! I have had cars in the past slowly leak some coolant into the cylinder and didn't do any of the usual symptoms, but before you assume the worst I would check out the heater core or rear heating if you still have it. Apart from that you can snag a combustion gas tester from harbor freight for about $20 and use that on your reservoir or directly at the radiator cap. That should tell you the good or bad news if it changes color lol. I should've went over that in my video. Looks like I need to find another blown head gasket somewhere 😂

Lmao I feel that. Well the good news is you don't have to go as crazy as I did to replace the head gasket, I mainly did it for the channel and to get the info out there. Plus mine was in pretty rough shape leak wise so it was the best option for me.

bro......... 3-5k for the short block and like 1k in shipping. You're basically 1/3rd the way to an engine swap. You can buy a used sub 200k miles 80 series engine for the cost of the short block. why?

Because I can 🤷‍♂️. Regardless of what condition I got one in, this was going to happen eventually, that was the whole idea behind this channel. Call me crazy but I like doing this stuff 😂.

Currently looking at those developments, I think when this was filmed I wasn't aware of what was going on. But I will say so far I have gotten everything I have ordered minus one item that had a backorder I was okay with. Take that for what you will.
