Toga’s a good case of nature vs. nurture and how they’re both important. Toga’s nature showed signs of being inherently harmful, and instead of nurturing her to control her urges in a more healthy manner, her parents made her suppress them. It’s really no wonder why she turned out the way she did on account of her parents’ abusive behavior.

Toga has Reinfield’s Syndrome. A sad but real issue. That’s what is crazy about every villain in MHA. They all have different but real mental disorders and issues. Sadists, sociopaths, machiavellians, narcissists, split personality disorder, and just plain old lonely people taking inspiration from the wrong places. And they somehow make a family of crazy.

I think they did do some counseling, but "quirk counseling" is often brought up a lot among villains, almost like it's a conversion therapy. But instead of attempting to help her, or even just get a therapist or anything like that, they viewed her as the problem. Toga's parents were awful ngl

Ever since this episode I was hyper focused on a pet theory that she was related to Monoma because they have the same giant smiles, hair color, very small but noticeable love of fancy clothes, parents that are incredibly avoidant about addressing her issues and his being outright disapproving altogether, and their base quirks being able to copy although by different methods. Not to mention anytime Toga is on the battlefield with the students, Monoma is ALWAYS tucked aside doing something else. And I thought because Toga is not so age different from Monoma and they’d recognize each other on sight if they were siblings. And Curious even mentions here she’s the eldest of her siblings and belonged to the Toga family like you would talk about a rich and well connected family. It just felt like too much to be a coincidence.

@psychronia Жыл бұрын
Not to "I can fix her", but poor Toga really was just excessively repressed because her quirk was unusual. Quirks to seem to inform a person's nature to some extent too. She may or may not have been savable if she was just raised right, but that's sorta the point of villains as a whole. The disenfranchised of society get driven into a corner and the only difference between this world and that one is that everyone has a chance at power to do something about it.
@vegvisir9276 Жыл бұрын
Stain also had to swallow/taste blood for his quirk, originally he was actually accepted into a hero school before he turned bad, it was just his ideals that turned him away from being a hero his quirk had nothing to do with his evil turn, chances are Stain was given the help and guidance he needed before his quirk turned him weird like Toga's did. If Toga had the same guidance Stain had when he was younger she might have turned out different since he was originally on the right path and clearly society must have accepted his blood quirk since he actually got a place in a hero school before leaving by his own choice.

The Skeptic dude is a reference to one of the Gorillaz band members, so that's cool. What's also cool is everyone is getting stronger?, Toga and Shigaraki at least. I guess fighting for almost 2 months straight will do that to you. Also nice to get Toga's backstory.
@CinJyxxe Жыл бұрын
MHA does villains so well, and I think it's because they have the villains grow and develop alongside the heroes in a way that no other anime really does. Villains tend to be stagnant while the heroes grow and power up, but in MHA, Shigaraki and the League of Villains grow and change over time, and they face their own internal and external adversities outside of their clashes with the protagonists that push their growth and refine their goals. The story is just so, so well-written.

See.... this is why I love MHA, Toga thus far has been a bit unhinged and creepy, yet here we're like 'wait she better not be dead' It's literally the Villains training arc..... though at this point it's like..... are villains evil? or just the people that don't fit into neat boxes that society has constructed and expects everyone to conform to? It's like.... as much as Bakugo IS my favourite character, I vibe more with the LoV. This part of season 5 is really messy. In part is because they shifted the acrs to align themselves to the movie that came out (This arc was supposed to come out right after class A vs class Bshowdown, that's why there are so many flashbacks and flashforwards) but it's also because the "meta liberation" wasn't properly set up or established, they just loredumped this on us and decided that it was fine
@Kaempfdog Жыл бұрын
I standby the arc switch is harmless to the narrative. I’ve looked over the story a number of times. It’s not better or worse, just different. It’s framed like the heroes investigating what happened at Deika when all they knew was the ending outcome and it resulted in having the same framework as a Scooby-Doo episode. Which is very interesting and I did like it. But the setup for the MLA was cut short, but that’s the fault of the Uraraka episode. Which is the worst MHA episode because it not only made that cut but didn’t justify it with enough character exploration to compensate. (And the filler of this show is normally VERY good at that between the murder mystery episode, the Tsu episode, and the Momo vs the IQ girl episode.) Which is why I say if it was like a Stain-arc episode and had us look at a variety of other work study students and what they were doing instead of a beach episode, it COULD have been worth it. And it makes it worse knowing now that there’s a high chance that the setup we’re talking about WAS likely recorded by the VA’s. And there’s a whole beautiful animation of Toga using Uraraka’s quirk that was cut because they simply didn’t have time to color it in time for the episode to come out. It’s a shame.
@nicolaspereyra420 Жыл бұрын
@@Kaempfdog the switch made things confusing. I've seen a lot of reactors not understanding things bc of how messy the timeline was, not to mention that if you were paying attention you'll get spoiled of the outcome of the meta liberation fight. Also ppl were complaining about the season not having villains and that lost the attention of so many viewers. If we had this arc in the middle of the season it wouldve kept them hooked

Literally, had she had better parent that decided to help her control her urges rather than demonize her for them, she wouldnt have ended up the way she did. She wasnt a bad person. She was simply not raised right. Thats why imo, shes the most redeemable villain (aside from twice).
