The Uchiha didn't want to kill everyone. They wanted to make a revolution against the Senju affiliated clans in the village, to stop the unjust discrimination against them. It's true that this kind of move would probably bring a civil war in the leaf which in turn will become another Shinobi world war. I'm not saying that it would have been the "right" thing to do. But the Uchiha didn't want to do it just because, they were oppressed and discriminated for years by the village higher ups, with no justification...

Their coup would have failed anyways. Their two strongest shinobi (Itachi and Shisui) were intelligent enough to stay loyal to the village and would be unlikely to help the coup. Without Itachi and Shisui the Uchiha wouldn't stand a chance against Shinobi like the Third Hokage, Danzo, Kakashi and the others.

I don't think Steejo understand what manipulation is. Sasuke was manipulated into hating Itatchi without knowing anything. Things would've been different if he had known about everything instead of being manipulated by itatchi to hate him, and try Killing him someday. You don't have to like Sasuke, but manipulation does a lot of mental damage.
