My grandfather farmed for many years with a M and a C. He still has both. In the early 90's he retired from farming, and sold 90% of his equipment. He picked up a little 230 with the fast hitch to go with his C that just has a bar, and a 656 to do chores with. That little 230 still runs like a clock, and according to my grandfather it has an A engine on it. So it's a smaller engine than it's supposed to have, but it must have the compression bumped up because it will run circles around the C. Although in all fairness that C hasn't been overhauled in 40 years, and has spent thousands of hours in the field and dragging hay wagons.

riding on my grandpas lap is the only reason i know how to drive a tractor best way to learn in my opinion im thankful that i learned so young helped transition me into the large tractors we use today as in my grandpa and i.

Dad bought a 1957 230 the year before I was born and traded it in on Massey Ferguson 300 series, 30 years later. I spent most of my youth in the seat of this tractor or throwing bales of hay onto the wagon being pulled by it. It was a workhorse and rarely broke down. We only had the plow, bog harrow, and mower fast hitch attachments.

I spent many hours on a 200 the model before this. They were not so easy to drive with full front mounted planters and up to 500 pounds of fertilizer in or stored for the long rows. My dad wore out the "Plow Chief" wings on a C-20 plow between 1955 and 1967. These little tractors were very adaptable and we did everything from plowing, planting, and cultivating to harvesting corn with mounting a M-1 Corn Snapper ( we didn't husk the corn in Georgia, didn't need to). At the start we worked rows from 36 inches on center for Peanuts to 44 inches for Tobacco. We pulled a two row transplanter and used it to rake hay. For some reason the Farmall PTO ratio was well matched to most hay rakes.

My grandpa has a 230 in his collection before he passed. His 230 went overseas, and he bought it after it came back.

I learned to drive tractor on a Farmall 230 when I was about 7 years old (I'm 48 now). About 5 years ago, my dad finally sold his farm and gave me the tractor. It still starts and runs great. Needs some minor tin work and the paint needs to be refreshed, but really in good condition. I also have the tractor-mounted cultivator that mounts to the fast hitch.

I am only 15 years old and I live on a farm and have been collecting tractors since i was 6 years old Have a 1936 Allis-Chalmers WC with only hand-crank ignition system. A 1950's John Deere 40 Tricycle type front end (the previous owner had sanded down and painted over the serial number tage so RIP, i'll never know what year it is) A 1936 BF Avery Model A with a single wheel front end, My first tractor (My Dad and grandpa bought it as a surprise for me, we saw it a few days before in a JD tractors dealership lot and i fell in love with it.), which is a 1942 McCormick Farmal Model H with original tires and lights, but it needs a new water pump (Pls tell me if you know where to get one), and a 1968 Oliver 1850 With 6 cylinder engine with 6 forward speeds and two revese or if you shift intro hydro 12/4 speeds. And this one isnt mine but we (my dad) owns it. Idk what year it is but it is a High-Crop Ride-On Blue Boy sprayer made by the John Blue Co. It uses a Ford 8N engine and is chain driven.

my question is. Whatever happened to the offset design in tractors.
@ericm.3791
@ericm.3791 3 жыл бұрын
The offset tractor was the 100 series, 100, 130, 140. They were based on the A while the 230 was based on the C.
