Lovely little Mizpah locket! My pal Google has this to say: 'Mizpah jewellery was popular during the Victorian era from the mid- to late-1800s and was generally given to a loved one during a period of long separation such as military service or travel. It was generally given as a "forget-me-not," and symbolised a bond of love between two people...'❤

Glad to hear that there is a dig named in honour of Michael Hare. Michael was a friend of mine, who sadly took his own life last year, he was kind enough to have given two lovely coins, which he had just found on his last outing, they were just a G V florin and a G IV schilling, but I 've got them pride of place in my album. RIP Michael.

The silver streak continues! Nice MIZPAH. That drone would help with the large fields that you have permissions on. Run the drone over the field and then overlay the grid on your maps. Might find a path leading from a structure to something not listed on your map. But it would save you alot of time as you could concentrate on the part of the field with highest concentration of targets.

Enjoyed as usual with your historical knowledge and great finds The thoughts of using a drone took me back about 25 years ago when i used to come back to England to do a series of Rallies in Essex called Noble Rallies where i met an Australien who worked for a mining company in Australia he would go with his team of detectorists to the outback and the moment they found an area of gold they would call in the mining company who would excavate the area so I think this drone will be replacing him and his team in the future . Incidently he had a full attaché case of gold crystals and nuggets with him which he was trying to sell (i had never heard of gold crystals before but they were spectaculer)

John, you're getting to an age where you need to get yourself a little jewelers loupe to carry with you so you can see the tiny writing! Ask me how I know... I carry one in my tool pouch and keep one hanging from my rear view mirror in the truck. They come in real handy for reading dates on toasty coins and silver and gold marks too. Good video as usual, very neat little locket, not sure what the little rectangular silver might go to, maybe something like a tiny pill or snuff box, but it's interesting. That sci-fi style detecting drone is also interesting, but there's a down side to having something located 100' deep. I don't know about you, but I'm probably not digging that up. Did that say it locates metallic and non-metallic objects? That's different. Anyway, good video, thanks for sharing your day with us! Sue

I think the legend on the locket probably reads: "...when we are absent from one another" but some of the words have been reordered. It looks hand-engraved so my assumption is that the maker thought he had it all sussed, then realised he'd missed out the word 'one' and had to squeeze it in in the wrong place. It might be why it was chucked out 🤷♂️
