Mangrove should be planted all along the coastline of Kerala to prevent sea erosion. Hats off to Murugeshan for setting an example for others.

Absolutely. Amazing carbon sequestration and coastal erosion prevention.

This is best suited for bays, and inland water shore. The sea shore waves are so powerful that it cant survive the waves.

Just came across your channel and loving it, great to see indigenous perspectives on fighting the climate crisis. Do you know Murukesan funds the mangrove projects? Does the government support this project?
@goodfoodmovement

Hi, it is mostly funded by community support. He has won multiple awards but govt is not supporting him directly.

Mangroves are so invasive, so that if left untouched for 10 years, the entire area would be covered by these mangroves.
@goodfoodmovement
@goodfoodmovement Ай бұрын
Is that what makes a plant invasive? In its ability to spread fast?
@dom4068
@dom4068 Ай бұрын
@@goodfoodmovement Well, i did not use the phrase 'invasive species', yes they can spread very fast. Are they harmful? Yes, they cause iritation to the human body (some people may have immunity against it). Are they harmful to other plants, yes to many other plants. Are they harmful for the farmers? Yes. Because, if these mangroves spread in your farm labourers are not ready to work in that field. And who ever is ready to work, charges atleast double, that means rupees 2000/- per day.

Never seen mangroves growing like that. They spread on river banks protecting and increasing fish population and purifying the water too.
