I use BassForecast for weather, pressure patterns but that’s it. It’s the nature of social media and apps. I have been fishing my home lake (4 acre pond named a lake) for 3+ yrs now. First 2 years barely didn’t see any bass fisherman, just the occasional carp / catfisherman. This past year I’ve had days consistently where 8+ people are bass fishing because someone posted a pic to an app/social media of a “7lber” with the lake name. The main spots were burned up in no time and certain lures (spinnerbait, choppo, chatterbait, and buzzbaits) don’t produce like they did those fist two years. In a way it’s made me better because I now have secret spots in the thick bushes/ briars and it forced me to learn new lures. Silent crankbaits, flukes, underspins. I fish with lures no one is using and parts of the lake no one wants deal wiht the thick vegetation.

Im a mix of all 3 I think. I love fishbrain and it actually helped me find my honey holes and new lakes I didn’t even know existed. I also made some friends on the app and most people there are very nice.

You nailed it. The delete button is the best feature. I have nothing to add 🤷 * I will add something: I don’t feel like taking to the to mess with posting fish and all that for another app, making it a moot point to me.

I give alot of info out here on KZbin through comments but I do not have and fish apps. I would catch a really nice fish in an area then nothing for years. I don't really have a honey hole but I familiar with about a half of a dozen of lakes and know where the structures and snags. I read alot of maps. Even being familiar a lake that doesn't mean I know where the fish is. A fish will do like a fish will do....swim 😂

Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your channel and the knowledge you share. My wife and I got our first fishing kayaks last spring and we are learning so much from channels like yours. I recently joined the KBF like you recommended and joined my first monthly challenge. Really hoping to get involved with tournaments and with so much to learn, channels like yours really help so much. Thank you for taking the time to make these.

Most of my spots are of one of two types; Public locations that everyone knows and are popular and well known to everyone, or places on moving water that very few people are going to put in the effort to get to even if I publish exact GPS coordinates. But I have gotten spots, mostly off of forums, by deeply analyzing pics and playing detective.

I like using the app when I travel to find good spots. I have found around high populated areas that the spots with high catch numbers are full of garbage and fished out. I also like the app to log my catches and the bait I used, weather conditions, water temperature, and etc instead of keeping it in a notebook. I never log the location of my spots I just say I caught the fish in that certain body of water. I also post all my catches on Instagram as well.

I prefer to get away from everyone & everything & don't want areas I fish to be crowded. So I don't care if people think I'm not a good angler been I'm telling them I didn't catch anything. All my friends & family see all big fish I catch. I still don't give up my areas or fisheries. Not worth it. I catch & release so I wanna keep going back & catching them again when their bigger. That 11lb 4oz bass was a beast, she was 26.25" long & 17.5" in girth. I'm not giving up that location! It's full of huge bass! I just had another monster pull off last Thursday. Idk exactly how big it was, but it was fighting as hard as that 11.4 & I saw it's side flash next to the kayak before she got off. It was at least another 8+lb bass. New goal is a teener!

I have Fishbrain but I’m not dumb enough to post catches. 😂 It’s good to find a new area to hit up. Totally agree with don’t fish and tell. I don’t tell anyone where my good spots are besides one fishing buddy and he shows me his spots too. Even then there are some spots we don’t share with each other at all. The most I’m telling even people I know is the county or general area of the body of water. KZbin is the same deal though. Plenty of KZbinrs burn spots as well.

The first rule of honey hole is dont talk about honey hole. I remember when this started here in So Cal. The sights n forums were focussed on local areas and many on the members actually knew each other. (Ancient history right). Posters generally shared fairly detailed reports that included where, when, on what, and some basic observations. Some guys would post decent reports days or a week later. Still fine and helpful. Then guys that I guess you label "Flexers" started showing up more n more. Just showing off fish with zero information. Which is fine, but those arent reports. It kinda became a game for many to out these guys. Maybe some one saw them at the launch or recognized something in the back ground. Guys started digitally painting over everything in the background. Or when on the ocean making sure they had the open ocean in the back ground. A couple local sights just added a page for pictures separate from reports. I stopped following sights probably 8 years ago and just did my own thing. When my local sights were just flexers and newbs asking repetative questions. Obviously this trend has moved exponentially. I still yak fish occasionally but have really been focussed on surfing for the last 7 years. And its gotten similar to this trend in fishing. There are reports and world class videos from surf flexers exposing new "secret spots". But the huge issue in surfing is the accuracy of wind, weather, and swell forecasting. You can tell with decent confidence what places will be breaking well a week or more in advance. "Back in the day" you'd go to Baja California for a week or 2 hoping a swell would hit when you were there. Made for some long hot dusty days sitting on the beach. Now we can make what we call 'strategic strikes" for just 3-4 days or even over nighters and get great waves. Which is fantastic. But of course so can everyone else.

I hate Fishbrain because of spot vultures. I do use bass forecast for the weather and other charts. And use it to teach a friend that’s new to fishing so he can learn structure and technique. Here’s a question for all. Does anyone struggle teaching others because of muscle memory. We are so used to doing something, then try to explain it and are loss for words.

I’ve used Fishbrain, I was the logger but the main reason I used it was to find lakes, reservoirs, and ponds around me that held fish and were open to the public. I travel often for work so I try to always do my homework so I’m not packing random fishing gear if I bring any at all. I also use it to search for certain species ie where I live (NE Oklahoma) the city or wildlife dept will stock trout in ponds, lakes, and rivers.
