Don't sound like fun to me. It's defeating the purpose of this sport. Fishing should be away to get away from the stressors in life, not to complicate it more. Before people say stay away from it. I can't if I want to continue in fishing tournaments. I kayak fish to stay away from the pricey bass boats and equipment. But now people have made fishing in kayak tournaments pricey with all this equipment.
@wendellfishing8 минут бұрын
It's definitely can get pricey indeed. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out

If and when it gets to that level of technology, might as well just put a bunch of bass in an Olympic size swimming pool and let people walk around it till all the fish are caught. Or just stay home and play fishing games on your screens and your virtual headset. For me I enjoy being out in nature and not all my joy comes from catching fish.

Wouldn't that be Awesome!???? AI has determined Fred is about to attempt to submit the same fish twice, From a satellite high above a beam of light is produced and Poof! A puff of smoke appears, a fully rigged kayak sits quietly abandoned and Fred has disappeared. Finders keepers.

My biggest fear isn’t so much with drowning. I would, of course, wear a personal flotation device. However, my biggest fear is gators. 🐊 It might seem a low risk and irrational fear, but it’s still there. I live in area that, through a system of lakes and swamps, connects to the Okee… we have a LOT of gators. Enough to occasionally see them as roadkill.

Yeah.... i hear that a lot from those who fish those waters

I thinkt it will go as it usally goes. We as humans will overdo it and then regulate in a legal or moral way to something "normal in between". I don't think it either way will impact the fishing to much becuse the big bulk don't kinda is like with livescope today to see someone promote staring down a screen is like unicorns this days at least over here in sweden.

I'm just a little confused, I thought you said in a another video you did on the striker CV series that they don't come with maps. Where do you get maps to put on these units?
@wendellfishing6 сағат бұрын
The Striker units (All 4) don’t have contour maps, but you can create your own countour maps using QuickDraw on the Plus and VIVID units. All have GPS you can mark waypoints, however it's on a blank screen unless you use Garmin Quickdraw Contours mapping.

It was fun pontificating for sure. I think we eventually will hit a critical mass where everyone agrees it's too much... but who knows when that will be
@UntamedOutdoorsmen6 сағат бұрын
@ agreed but I think the glory of the sport is we all have free will. Someone can buy as much or as little tech as they want but have an equally fun time. Nobody is making anyone do anything. And what others do with their money is their business. I think that conversation needs to happen first.

I think technology helps but being able to use it and actually catch fish is still a challenge. Do not remember what video it was on but the live scope they showed, every single cast had multiple fish coming to look at their bait before swimming away. Over and over...but no bites. That would make fishing into more of a video game for me and extra frustrating to see hundreds of fish every day ignoring casts. I guess nice to be in rural areas where none of those map/fishing apps work. I will leave all the technology up to city/big lake people. 😋
@wendellfishing6 сағат бұрын
I can see how it would be beneficial to see how bass are relating to your lures. Would change the game for sure

You’re on target! Add in transducers and specially designed hulls that allow higher speed reconnaissance of lakes for fish over 5 pounds, automatically creating waypoints and ranking them. In the end, I go with Henry David Thoreau’s comment 200 years ago- Many fish their entire lives without knowing it isn’t the fish they’re after.

Fortunately, i can choose not to use the tech. My connection to nature and the water is the main reason I love kayak fishing. My rvr is intentionally rigged so I can quickly remove everything and go zero tech. I'm already seeing a counter culture develop where kayak anglers are shedding the gear, and returning to basics.

I can't wait for Ai to be used to cheat by changing the pictures and making the fish bigger🤦♂️. If people haven't used it already to do so 🤔. I think if technology gets that far ahead, it will ruin the waterways, by people catching and keeping fish by the masses, and that will F-up 💯 of the ponds or lakes ecosystem. So lets hope not 😅.
@wendellfishing6 сағат бұрын
Let's hope that simultaneously technology will help with healthy fish populations to keep up.

Just tried 11mph in a paddle kayak. Yeah eff no. I paddled into the wind so I knew I could get back by just riding the wind. The waves were too crazy for me to put the paddle down and rig up a hook. So yeah, probably just about at my limit for being on a kayak period, but definitely too much to be able to even try to fish.
