WOW this is such an amazing idea, GA - I'm trying to work on a stylized model based on Mega Man and even test prints have eaten up so much time and filament, largely because of that damn widow's peak. Definitely going to try modeling something like that support mesh in Fusion myself.

That would be amazing if some slicers could just generate a thin support wall or pattern in overhangs like this, like just define from one section to another. I would work for so, so many types of prints that have odd overhangs but you may just need like a small angled support structure, instead of making the support stretch alllll the way to the build plate!

This is something I had to to myself when printing helmets with overhangs like that. I's nice that Galactic Armory is doing this now but I really wish slicers would give you this option to place them yourself just like this example for areas like that.

IIRC you actually can by including a free defined object defined as a support.

Such an awesome idea! Way less filament and saves that nose piece failing. Even though I had supported mine well it wobbled and I had to tap it to allow it to finish. Have a layer shift that I will need to fix but at least it still printed. This is a much better idea!

There used to be some makers on KZbin who offered amazing tutorials on modeling print in place custom supports that went into detail on how to determine where they were needed, how to minimize material, the best gaps to use to maximize support and minimize adhesion (so that you could just peel them off or out as easily as a raft)...

@4:00 Jessy, as far as the helmet sizing ring goes. When you load a new helmet, just stop the printer after 5-10 layers and remove the ring and check. been doing that for years

I feel like the top of the helmet would turn out better and require less filling to clean up with a bit of adaptive layering. Starting to do .1mm layer height as it gets to top and finish on .05mm layer height at very top where the stepping becomes very noticable. I think I will be doing that in my future helmets. nice work and thanks for putting this honeycomb inbuilt support concept on our radar. I like Galactic Armory, but I really am loving Pew Pew Crafts helmets. Should give 'em a look if you haven't already.

I haven’t had a chance to print the new file yet, but that looks absolutely amazing. It would be really cool if more and more slicers could have some thing like this, where these a grid that we can place in certain areas as support instead of just using their basic supports. Galactic Armory is really cool I love those guys. Theyre onto something great there.

It was pretty disappointing to see Galactic Armory take credit for this idea after ChamanleonFX and other designers had been working on perfecting the concept for a while now. I hope in a future video appropriate credit can be given to the original makers of this excellent idea. It’s also not just a case of unknowingly coming up with a similar idea. There have been multiple mentions of shady business practices behind the scenes from other creators. Has definitely deterred me from ever wanting to promote GA’s work on my channel again.

It's kind of funny to read comments like these, that are all secondhand rumor and gossip so far from the truth. It comes with the territory of success though so I'll do my best to ease your concerns! I had to actually go back and look up Josh's work to find what you were referring to. Finally found it on page 7 of his Sabine helmet! Yes it looks like we had similar ideas on how to solve a common problem 4 months apart. Coincidences do happen of course and I think it's pretty obvious to see they are totally different approaches. As far as the "other creators" go, I'm not sure what they said but have always run GA as honestly as I could! If they have problems with me they're always able to message me directly about it, but I think it's telling that I have no idea who you're referring to. It seems like you've already made up your mind about me based on conversations with others but my DMs are always open if you want to chat about any concerns you have directly to me!

Weakness is if you scale it up/down, the integrated support too will scale along with it but its just some minor waste so no problem (unless you have a bad cooling settings when printing the small hexagon parts)

This is something that's been happening for a while now where the author will build in supports MechG for example make some very nice rockets that are 3D printable and he builds in supports that work amazingly well Now the novel idea of creating a hexagon matrix to make that support is pretty darn cool as well and looks like it's very easy to remove and also big one here produces very little waste this is especially nice when you're using expensive filaments :-) Wear waste just makes you cry Also be careful what finger you're using when you point to stuff on screen some could take quite offense to that :-) hehehe

It’s basically an unspoken agreement for cosplay. Disney won’t go after cosplayers because it’s advertising for the IP. But it’s not legal. So Disney can and will shut down people at anytime. But it’s not likely so long as you don’t get greedy and start mass producing these.

Please topic your videos correctly. I'm dissapointed by the sheer clickbait nature. Going through your videos in the future is impossible if all videos are called YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT. If they instead were called "This support structure fixes a big issue with helmets!" everyone understands the topic. I know this reduces the clickbait, but I dont come here for clickbait. I come here for clarity. And not random clarity. We want specific answers and this video literally CANNOT be found when you need it now because of your lack of substantial subject on the video, completely leaving out what regarding helmets you are even talking about in the video. As a subscriber I am dissapointed in this behaviour.
