This Flea Market Vendor Was So Overpriced!

In this video I went vintage toy hunting at a Dallas Flea Market and picked up some really sweet vintage toys!
The name of the flea market is Trader’s Village in Grand Prairie, TX
I scored some vintage TMNT, Rocklords, G1 Transformers, Captain Planet, M.U.S.C.L.E. and Vintage Star Wars!
This Flea Market was huge and loaded with 80s and 90s Nostalgia!

Oh wow…imagine if they are just sitting in your parent’s attic. How cool would that be to rediscover them? I sold all my childhood toys in a yard sale for 25¢ each when I was 14. Man do I regret that. 😂

I noticed the sigma 6 Snake Eyes you took a quick peak at. I actually have him near complete, only thing mine's missing is his dogtags. The figure of Beast Man you picked up definitely is a variant that's incredibly hard to find too. Really sweet score Burf

I don't think the Beast Man is an issue of sun damage or a variant. I think it's just plastic degradation. The discoloring/yellowing is a chemical break down as the plastic starts off-gassing. There are a lot of examples of the vintage GI Joe Spirit figure where the torso has discolored similarly to the color of that Beast-Man, yet his arms are still nice and blue at the top. Another good example of known blue plastic issues is the vintage Star Wars Max Rebo. His discolorations are all over the place. Some turn pale blue, some turn the Beast Man color, some turn almost white. The vintage Obi-Wan is prone to getting dark spots all over the plastic body. It's weird. It doesn't seem to be anything that retro brighting will fix either like it can on yellowed white or gray plastics. That Beast Man could have spent it's entire life after the mid 80s stored in a dark box and it still would have done that. Also all the Beast Men that had loincloths injection molded from that same hopper of plastic pellets would do the same. A lot of people believe it's caused by different levels of brominated flame retardants that were added to plastics. I don't remember if anybody ever came to the conclusion that it was caused by adding too much or too little to the plastic.

Lots of vendors in flea markets are like that nowadays i often see ridiculous price on Star Wars and gi joe toys since its written star wars on it. Some prices are laughable. When I see prices like that a look and go away. And try my luck elsewhere unless I really want that piece

Most of his stuff was way over priced. If you think the $900 he was wanting for the He-man Topps cards is “on the money” when you can buy the same exact set, SEALED on eBay for $399 right now, you’re more than welcome to visit his booth and pay double. @@80sToysRoc $125 best offer… a lot goes into eBay listings. Scratches, complete, paint. The right person easily going to pay $20 extra for something without messed up plastic or paint. Not necessarily either, after you sell on eBay best offer you could have accepted that offer or ten cents less. Going out of your way to blast a guy bc you don’t like his prices is just dumb. He wouldn’t have those prices if someone wasn’t paying that for them and he can put whatever price he wants on something, maybe he doesn’t want to sell the items & just likes having them to show off?

@@mr.toyman1630 sure, some sucker may be paying those prices. There’s always a sucker…it’s just not the way I would want to do business. But to each his own. Some of his stuff was fair. Not everything was over priced. The “loose” figures were a good deal. The Rebel Commando that I paid $10 for was “on the money” as you say, the “M.U.S.C.L.E. was decently priced…but there was a lot of stuff that just wasn’t worth what he was trying to sell them for. I’d rather sell stuff at fair market value and earn a good reputation with my customers. Other subscribers who live locally and have visited his table have also commented saying his prices are whack. That’s not a reputation I would want to earn. So to your point, he can price whatever he wants…it’s his reputation at the end of the day, not mine.

It’s not about getting Goodwill prices..it’s about being fairly priced and lots of his stuff was $30, $40, $50 over market value. I’ve been around the block long enough to know when things are overpriced. In some cases he was double the market value.

@@80sToysRoc I've seen an unopened box listed for more than $1000, or as low as $400, and I'm not saying I'd pay either of those prices (I wouldn't), I'm just saying when it comes to collectors and collecting, you are going to see some heavy price tags, some ask less because they want to reduce their stock while also making money, and others can afford to hold on for the bigger pay off.
