I really, really like your building style. As far as your issue with power... Turn off the other 11 refineries and just have 1 working to make your heavy oil residue. Store it somewhere and let it build up. Then get your turbo fuel system up, turn off all but one refinery, let the turbo fuel build up. Then start building your fuel generators. You'll have a stockpile of fuel ready to go, so when you have enough power generation set up to run the full turbo fuel production line, start turning things back on. It's a super-simple way to manage huge builds. Also, you can get clever with power switches so you can have one full production line set up on one switch and all the other excess production set up on another. In the case of a power failure in the future, turn off the excess but keep the emergency line running. You'll also need an entire building full of batteries... probably 100MW to 1GW worth of power storage. It'll give you enough time to keep things running while you fix whatever went wrong. Awesome building style! I might actually borrow some of that... lol.

@chemislife2 жыл бұрын
Why would a rolling start not be feasible? Power on one set to get going. Once you have one fuel generator running it should allow for 1-2 more sets to be powered on. That was how I rolled over my factory from biomass burners to coal. I haven't reached fuel gen yet but I can't imagine the transition being much different other then you probably won't be switching off all of your old source of power like you need to do when getting off biomass.

My potato brain 🧠 didn't put 1 and 1 together 😅 there are switches on machines for a reason 👍

Yep, I bootstrap everything for that reason. Start with the smallest number and work the power load up. Avoiding overclocking during the ramp up also helps too.

@@halbouma6720 the section of the game I'm not looking forward to is starting up nuclear power. Up to that point you don't have to deal with byproducts and especially not items that can't be deleted that are hazardous. you can also cable one by one, usually I start my new power generation on a separate grid with a few biomass burners, and then connect it. depending on the length 4-10 biofuel per biomass burner is enough to get it running a good tip I've seen is using wall poles and putting 2 close to act as a switch that disconnects a whole grid, you can temporarily cut off the main factory while keeping only power generation, and you can start almost anything.

I have like 500hrs in so far and I've learned that you can easily do it from below as long as have a buffer really close, with a pump directly up to the machine. Just give it some time to fill up and you are good to go! Does take a little tinkering at times, but I've gotten 100% efficiency doing it, making 450 alclad sheets/450 alum casings per min.
