It’s kinda ironic how Ch2S2 was so beloved because of the characters, the story and the gameplay, and one of the biggest criticisms for Fortnite in 2024 was it being a huge ad. So instead of paying homage to the Chapter like they did with Fortnite OG they just slapped the rappers on the locations where the bosses used to spawn lmfao.

There’s really no reason we can’t have both story events and concerts when we used to get both. Events haven’t hit the same since Collision, Fracture at least properly concluded Chapter 3. Big Bang and Prelude couldn’t even bother to do that

I couldn’t give a single fck about the story but at least it was the foundation for cool events. I genuinely can’t remember when was the last time I saw a cool live event that made me exited to hop on and watch it with my friends. I do kinda agree with Scyan in this, live events went from a cool, well, event that attracted players with what Epic Games was capable of doing, to big giant ads that attract players with what IPs Epic Games is capable of adding to the game. The Juice WRLD situation is another thing in which I have to agree with Scyan. I have no doubt the tribute is being made with respect and admiration, but if they really cared it would’ve happened 4 years ago when he actually passed away, or even last year when they played Eminem’s “Godzilla” on the event. They’re just adding him now because, who would’ve guessed, they’re releasing a posthumous album for him. Not to be that guy but, they’re clearly making money off of him and everyone just seems to be fine with that. Maybe Scyan worded their tweets wrong, but I 100% understand their frustration and can agree with them.

As a juice wrld fan and Fortnite lore enjoyer I agree with the Shyam that the concerts should have been separate so that juice and the rappers could have their moment to shine and that the live event will be lore focused. All I can hope now is that epic has a good balance of doing a good juice tribute and adding lore to the event.

You beat me to my thoughts; this is the third time Fortnite bout to cut off a chapter with a rapper, and both sides already expressed how much they hate it; Lore-enjoyers hate that celebrity influence is overwriting the original plot over being a simple cameo, and collab-goers hate that the performances are underwhelming compared to the Travis Scott concert. So idk why Epic Games is tripling-down on it. Maybe they should end chapters less often so they have that extra time to cook something peak and consult player feedback. Can't believe were on Ch 6 already, makes 5 & 4 feel like a blur

Ever since Chapter 5, The Fortnite community have fell off hard, more divided than before, having more dramas compare to Chapter 4 or even all prev chapters combined. Seriously, Chapter 5 is when the state of the community has reached its worst. I don’t know whether it would get better, or stay that way, or get even worse. This realisation is so horrifying to me that I personally find it hard to even enjoy talking or even thinking about future Fortnite updates. I can’t be excited for Chapter 6 without thinking how bad would drama happen next chapter or how divisive the community will become that even make Chapter 5’s tamer in comparison.

Genuinely, especially when the arguments often don't lead to anything constructive. People are so quick to say remove it outright, or to nerf it into the ground, instead of actually looking at the problems and suggest rebalancing accordingly. Cars do need nerfs, but only to hp, the guns in wrecked season were not the problem with them. And the stations that heal them do need to have an overhaul to only heal up to x amount of hp, so that blowtorches have a use. Then, vehicles mods can return without dominating. Weapon mods are also flawed, but that's because you can't change them on the fly, and the stations are limited to vaults and 1 moving location, and most are underpowered compared to outright negating recoil. So just, add more stations and weapon mods, and wackier guns to mod, like a charge mod with dragons breath on full charge, or an under barrel explosive secondary that replaces the scope and uses rocket ammo, or a barrel that changes the ammo type to heavy, giving you more recoil but hitting like a truck. So many things could be done instead of scrapping, like hell, i don't like the old guns and the remix season as a whole because of it, but og is coming back full time, so clearly they can do that without scrapping the br mode for it. Please, everyone, chill out, and learn some creativity and problem solving skills, instead of pointing out what everyone already knows and suggesting an extreme messure.

Here's my other thing. Yesterday on Stream Klarque made a joke about Juice dying by taking too many mini's alongside Jo Jo Josiah who when Juice Wrld was revealed during Remix he himself made a joke about "We're going to haunted hills with this one" So they defend Scyan on it being a misunderstanding and poor wording only for them to make a whole joke about his death in the end and then when they are critcised for it they label it as "Oh it's just edgy humour don't get so worked up". If you were to make a joke about the death of someone I cared for and then said it's just edgy humour I'm not kidding when I say I'd punch you in the face then and their!!!! They lost the argument after that. Also yeah I agree I don't really care about the lore anymore. It really did become FNAF type lore. I really only care about the fun gameplay and skins. That same week Klarque brought up the “epic is getting lazy” video while playing with his friends and started getting pissed at his takes/the community. Like a week later Clen and Jojo reacted to 2 Benn videos on their streams. (Klarque wasn’t in call with them but was in chat watching along with them being an asshole(this is Klarques 3rd time watching “epic is getting lazy”) Not to mention that Klarque literally promoted Jojo and Clen’s streams in Klarques discord. He hardly ever promotes anything that isn’t his own content so it’s super out of character. It wasn’t until then when Benn decided to respond. Benn “bringing up Clen’s child” is a super broad statement. He said that “these people are all grown adults, one of them has a child.” People think this was disgusting for reasons I can’t understand. When I saw that I took it as a way to explain that these guys have families and commitments yet still act immature online. I didn’t see it as malicious. But yes Clen and Benn did sort it out. But Klarque preaching about “being responsible with your platform” is hypocritical

ok heres my thing im taking away here. like i understand moving away from the previous story is needed, however we need something of similar quality to take its place. i'm not saying it has to be the same, im just saying we need something of similar quality that can take place and can end when a new chapter begins. i don't have a problem with that, however its abit difficult to get into it when we have collebrity events and collab seasons mixed in with it sense it tends to throw off what the story is building up too for the sake of advertising. like for example, have one chapter that is focused on a common identity like a steam punk chapter that slowly becomes more futuristic, then at the end of that chapter, we get a new story about a new them. it gives more oprotunity to insert interesting ideas wile also having a cohesive story that doesn't need to be repeated latter on. like this chapter for example, season 1: japanese mythology season 2: cyberpunk themed season 3: gaming themed season 4: anime themed

And I never heard of the guy til recently. I get being frustrated about the game's story being sidelined for more metaverse slop but he legit is treating this like they're ignoring the story to shill more content out. i honestly used to be really invested in the story, and while i dont think every event needs to be the foundation trying to stop batman from eating a shard of the zero point, i feel that if there was proper closure to many of the MAJOR plot points like the seven and the io, it would be fine, but instead of even trying to maybe incorporate SOMEwhere, or trying to shut down the old storyline for the new, they just constantly add more and more.

Ok this will probably Be a long take but i have to say this personaly i kinda agree with Scyan, because with the Snoop Dog Concert i thought to myself why isn't this in Party Royale, (I know nobody plays this mode) but i still find it weird, that it's the same premise of looking at a screen and it wasn't used in a mode that was made for it. i know this part will be pretty hard to pull of but i think every mode should have it's own things (Real concerts) like the Travis scoot one should be in Fortnite Festival because music artist have to do with music and not Battle Royale, and (Real life concerts) Like the Snoop Dog one should be in Party Royale so you know..... people will maybe start getting comfortable with the Metaverse. Like i don't understand how Epic thinks that not updating a gamemode will lead to success.

My personal thoughts are, I agree, CH2 Remix was a little confused in it's identity, is it CH2 or is it Rappers? I would have preferred if it's focused on the Rappers. Maybe it is a bit Ad-y but these artists were still probably wanting to contribute to this tribute to Juice WRLD, who was a fortnite player and a member of our community. I think it's perfectly VALID for someone to go "Naw, this isn't for me" or feel it undermines the story. If he doesn't want to play Fortnite for a season, then that's Scyan's right. Hell, aside from quickly doing the BP, I mostly skipped CH5S4 because I was tired of Marvel and The Wanderer turning out to be Dr. Doom just killed my investment. But that's just me personally. But what I don't agree with is how Scyan was using Donald Mustard's name to establish a moral grounds. Chances are Donald Mustard either doesn't care or he's completely fine with it, even before Donald Mustard's departure from being the lead creative direction he was still very much involved with the promotional collab stuff in Fortnite, even going as far as having them involved with the story. If he isn't let him speak for himself, don't act like Donald Mustard's knight, because what it comes off to me is like "If you support this, you are against Donald Mustard!"

The storyline has always been the magic that has been kept me playing, seeing epic completely shaft the storyline for all of chapter 4 and then follow up with one of the worst stories I have ever seen in my life is just sad and made me stop playing for most of chapter 4 and chapter 5. it is completely understandable how Sycan is acting to me, I feel like he shouldn't be whining about it as much as he is, but he's coming from a place that I understand. Epic forgot that the storyline gives people like him a reason to come back to the game every week to listen to the storyline and watch the build up to a season ending event that everyone comes together to watch, we don't have that anymore because nobody cares, there's barely any story in the game, the live events barely relate to the story of the seasons, and they're now sidelining the storyline for more metaverse slop. I'm looking forward to the finale event, but from the teasers I've seen, it isn't even finished right now and we are 2 days away from the event, I feel like they're going to do the bare minimum like The Big Bang, but if not I'll gladly watch the event.

Basically from what i understand scyan was expressing his opinion about how he didn't like the event and i get people are annoyed by that but you dont have to start a beef over it you can mabye say ur opinion and agree to disagree and move on.

I do think Scyan was being a little annoying about all this, and he definitely put his foot in his mouth with how he worded his tweet about the Juice WRLD tribute. All that said, I do also think Hypex and Shiina escalated the whole thing unnecessarily and I don't get why they were so mad at him specifically. I'm not totally up to date with everything the two of them get up to, but they always seemed like pretty level headed and reasonable people to me, Hypex especially. So it just seems really weird to me that they'd go so hard after a smaller figure in the community like that. It almost came off like they had beef with him already and this was just the inciting incident that made them lose it, but that's baseless speculation. Honestly I felt bad for Scyan coming out of it even though I did find him pretty off-putting at first. I think everyone involved can take this as a learning experience, and I hope that they do.

I think it’s important to say that this video forgot about a specific tweet that was particularly disrespectful where scyan said “Honor your own game first Then honor someone else in a season that is not end of a chapter." It’s not really something yiu should say about a guy who played a part in the success of Fortnite.

I think Scyan forget that not every thing in Fortnite should be story related, and sometime is good old fun, and the season is just for a months, so we would go back storytelling again in CH6S1, because if he want to criticize the event, he should have worded it better than “honor your game first, then honor someone else in a season that is not end of a chapter”, because that wording is disrespectful, considering that Juice WRLD always been a Fortnite fans, and this is how some Fortnite content creator say about it, but hey, Scyan is the same guy that say CH3 is inspired by of all things, WW2, and Klarque, well, not to much to say, other than the fact he keep on trying to keep gatekeeping old BP, and analogous it to a real physical products, even though this are digital object, and can be producible at high rate, and really, this drama wouldn’t have happened if Scyan shut about it, and take a break from storyline for a while

Mustard left Epic because they decided the storyline isn't important enough and started moving all talents towar the money printing objective: "The Metaverse". I loved the storyline, it made the game unique, but it's clear that Epic lost that passion about it and we should too.
