I picked up WoW again in BFA and it was the worst gaming experience I’ve ever had. I started playing ff14 and never looked back. I didn’t realize MMOs could be fun.

Oh being a "casual" is a perfectly valid way to play. There are people that do nothing but fish or craft, or decorate their houses/apartments. That doesn't even step into the realm of Rpers (not just naughty rpers) that immerse themselves into playing a character in whatever story they have going. Heck, there's a freaking club scene. Top tier Raiders aren't any more special or important to everyone else. They have their niche, but the game gives us the freedom to do many MANY other things if raiding isn't your jam. Also if you ever feel you need a break, the devs themselves encourage you to do other things so you don't burn out. The game will still be there when you come back. All this to say, the game is exceptionally casual friendly while still providing the opportunities to do more difficult content IF YOU WANT TO.

I do love watching the ff traditions for streamers. I'm not gonna spoil, but theres a few moments that get me just to see the inevitable reaction for the streamer. I need to participate in one. Maybe I'll keep an eye and catch you on one of my favorites. Edit: also sad to hear that about your experience with WoW. I love that game, but there is something very dark in how it sets itself up that brings out the bad in people. Maybe its the core of the game, rooted in conflict. Ff has its faults, but the core of the game is rooted in kindness and understanding. Even when someone doesn't much deserve it.

when the content from 2015 is just as good as 2023 stuff from other MMOs, really makes you appreciate what kind of care the devs put into the game for it to STILL have this effect on people.

Something I noticed so heavily when playing XIV for the first time was just how loving the community was for new players. This mindset has followed me back into WoW, and I've been making so many more friends in both games. I truly hope more positive community behaviors come to WoW. Also, so happy you've been enjoying XIV. It's always nice to see another WoW veteran embrace both games. Hope you continue to love XIV!

I never had an honour guard going into Ishgard for various reasons, but that's why I make sure that when one of our FC members mentions they're starting Heavensward I make sure to show up in Foundation to welcome them. It's such a wonderful gesture and I'm glad to know it means something to people like you who experience it. ARR is a perfectly fine game, but honestly this is where things really start to happen so I hope you enjoy it!

Witnessing your first Call of Tradition as a sprout is a truly humbling experience. I didn't get a chance to have this one in particular, but my dearest friends put out The Call on all networks when I finished Endwalker a few days ago and it brought me to tears to see friend and stranger alike lining up when I dropped out of the cutscene. Truly, it will always be a cherished memory for me, and I hope to be able to be on the other side of it someday soon.

I played wow for years as one of my only games (that and lesuge of legends). And i believe i would be considered a casual, i mostly just did aotc achieves then stopped raiding and only did like rp and leveled alts. And even then the toxicity was noticeable. Somehowe i never came across you, but tbf i never really cared to watch wow events besides a few moments of blizzcon. I came over to this game during that whole exodus from shadowlands wow and havent looked back. Everybody was, and still is extremely friendly and welcoming. And to top it off, a good chunk of my wow guild migrated over as well. Glad to see you are receiving a good welcoming!

After 9.1 release in wow i just move to GW2 and then to FF14. The best decision i ever made as gamer. FF14 become my new home and allow me to play other games without feeling like im falling behind. FF14 its my new home
