I think the fact that the word "house" is always in a slightly light blue is a reference to the book House of Leaves which always had that word in blue as well. If you haven't read that book and you like dry psychologically interesting books please check it out. Its one of the best pieces of art literature I've experienced

6:00 I grew up playing these text based adventure games in the 80’s. I got them pirated on cassette from other people, so I never had the supplemental things that went with the games. I recall one was supposed to be a scratch & sniff, and it would tell you which number to scratch in the book, then you would type a command like “take cheese”. Without the scratch &sniff, it was a very difficult game. Played a lot of them. Would draw out my right and left turns on paper to get an idea of the map so I knew how to get back to the locked door after I later found the key.

Hey, I don't know why exactly you hesitate buying it if it's a horror game, but let me tell you I never thought I'd buy any horror game because I get scared easily lol. However, this game is really amazing and it's just the right amount of psychological horror for me and not too much.
