@@meVladowski plus after he was defeated by a plot McGuffin in the form of his cursed crown, Wukong was chucked into a furnace capable of killing Immortals. It wound up being more or less a refreshing steam bath for the Monkey King that gave him yet another layer of immortality xD

Based off other works of media, his voice has always been like that so I think they’re just keeping it accurate/consistent giving him a more “monkey-like” voice since. Fits his original story where he is very mischievous, being a monkey after all.

The boss fights in this game has a speed mechanic. If you manage to beat the boss fast enough within a certain time, the boss will then trigger a second phase of the boss fight. If you are not fast enough the boss fight will just end without a second phase. The original mandarin voice acting is much better. Sun Wukong actually has a unique speaking voice that has been kept constant throughout all the different media about Journey to the West and about Sun Wukong. The English voice actor is unable to do that.
