I don’t know if anyone has left a comment about this, so here it is. The creator of this game is Vietnamese, and a common belief is that you can see spirits at night. That is why the mom found out that Ron was dead so late ; she was seeing his spirit, and the thought of him being dead never even crossed her mind until she came to the house in the morning. Also, I believe that when Ron tried to go save his dad, that’s when he is hiding from the police in the motel. That is probably when the dad starts seeing Ron and where Ron picks up the “spell.” When Ron threw the “spell” into the room with the crying woman, that was the business card for the motel that shows up when the police are questioning the mother. That’s why the spell defeats Redface. At the end of the game, each child is in the place where they were hidden after they died. Freckles is in the fire (burned), the girl is in the pit (buried), and the blond boy is hidden in the trunk of a car. The reason why the dad’s “alter ego” was called Redface was because Ron associated the way he acted when he got drunk and *red in the face* with a whole new person. This is quite common for victims of abuse to do. I’ve been obsessed with this game and sobbing over it lol.

I think his mom saw him that day when she promised him to take a day off. She actually did and she couldn't see him in daytime and found his dead body as she found him in closet at midnight. She rushed to police and then Ron woke up and thought mom lied to him and doll guided him to provide them proof they needed.

Holy Shit. This game is actually so well made, and the story line is so good. The part where the father snaps the son’s neck actually left me in shock. oh no :( every time i watch a playthrough, i notice something new (spoilers for the rest of my comment): -the doll doesn't make the food "refill", the son isnt able to eat it at all (which is why the doll mentions not being able to eat -same thing goes for the medicine -the "spell" card has the motel card texture on it before you interact with the dad - the coffin at the very end has the same pattern as the gift box the doll comes in

@Pumpkinpied imagine living this game every single day and experiencing everything this child goes through except the death was my life(the imagination to protect myself, the innocence thinking my father was just angry man, the abuse, and being left home alone with him, thinking of him as a monster when drunk and high) all till I was 14, then when my mom walked out that door she took me with her thankfuly, the ending of this game could of been me... i developed severe ptsd but i survived. im now 21 with my own 2 beautiful children and do everything for them I never had growing up I've told my story so many times, its easier every time plus its the only way to get through it

the reason why it took the mom 14 days is because there is a folklore or something somewhere (forgot where) that at night you can see the dead / ghosts, the mother was only home at night. Thats why she only found out when she stayed home a day to take care of ron. :' )
