When it comes to boxing I find mental energy that drains you and how that works is trying to hurt the other person without them hurting you back too much. Not sure if I would feel that in a game since they can't physically hurt you

Think of it more like shadow boxing with a significant motivator to keep going for that extra bit longer. Obviously you're not getting hurt so what you're talking about isn't part of it, but I use this game every day for a fun way to do an hours cardio haha
