Andy Dalton led the Carolina Panthers to their first win of the season, delivering an impressive performance after taking over for the benched Bryce Young. In their 36-22 victory over the Raiders, Dalton threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns, marking the Panthers' first offensive scores of the season. His performance provided a much-needed spark, as he efficiently managed the offense, including a highlight-reel 31-yard touchdown pass to Adam Thielen.
Dalton's start came after Bryce Young struggled in the first two games of the season, with poor passing stats and multiple turnovers. Head coach Dave Canales made the switch after evaluating Young’s performance, giving Dalton the chance to lead the team, and the veteran quickly rewarded the Panthers with a win.
Stay tuned for more NFL coverage and NFL analysis as we continue to follow the Panthers' quarterback situation.

I agree. I don't know if Riech just didn't have the gut to tell tepper that or what, but that should've been the formula coming into last season when they first picked up Dalton. Also sometimes when someone gets to start for the first time they get that initial luck where everything goes their way and they're seeing things really clearly. Let's see what this looks like after another few weeks. he dont have the talent. Compare him to Darnold who has better size, better arm, better accuracy. People keep giving Darnold chances because they are hoping he gets to the point where the game slows down, where he can be more effective recognizing coverages and going through his reads. Because he has the TALENT to be a decent QB. Maybe he is at that point now. Bryce will NEVER get there. He doesn't have NFL Size, he doesn't have a NFL arm, he doesn't have anything special about him, this accuracy bad etc. People hit him for his size, and RIGHTFULLY SO. Then others bring up guys like Kyler Murray and Russel Wilson. Both those guys were baseball players, and Kyler was a star pitcher. They have CANOONs. They have NFL arms, they can make every "NFL throw". Bryce does not have the talent. He will never be a good QB in NFL. Maybe he is good enough for CFL I don't know.

exactly. Sam Darnold stunk really bad in the past and is lighting it up this season. It's a very streaky position. Matt Ryan was entirely unathletic and had a weak arm, and the Falcons were able to devise a lot of short-pass routes and make him perfectly serviceable. If it can be done with Ryan, it can be done with anyone. Part of it is that coaches need to keep things fairly simple for the rookie qb.

People are making it way too common to call a young player a bust early in his career. I remember back in the days that most teams took their time to develop their QBs before throwing them into the fire. I mean; Aaron Rodgers didn't fully start until his 4th season in the NFL. Dave gotta take it upon himself to use this time to coach Bryce up and make sure he's comfortable with the current playcalling.

It's Bryce's sophomore season. He played his entire rookie season as the starter for a very bad panthers team. Players are always awful when they start their rookie year. And he got beat so bad he lost his confidence. Let him sit behind the Red Rifle for a while, maybe even move him to another team. We've seen *1 game* of Andy Dalton heading this team, against a defense that's much worse than the saints or the chargers. Hopefully Bryce Young can do well as a back up when called upon. Even if he sees limited playing time but practices and conducts himself in a professional manner (no whining to the press) that alone will increase his off season trade value. Trading him at his lowest would be foolish. I've seen guys get run out of a city by the fans and media and management, etc and then 2-3 years later I see they are starting for some other mediocre team, or as a long time backup, to even having a breakout year eventually.
