Because you ran into the boss unprepared and deal less damage then you should be at your level I suspect you did die (even though I would like to see you slay it). So I will take the time to explain a few important things you seem to have forgotten/didn't know. While in the chasm with the lamp gadget equipped there is a light meter right above your health. You can lose that light by either using it, walking onto the purple goo or entering the boss area with more then two charges. If enemies are standing on purple goo, they get stronger and you get weaker when standing on it. If you stand to long in the goo, you will accumulate the corrosion (the same thing you encountered in sumeru), shown by the black things where your light meter is. Some purple goo have the "small" goo chunks, using the lamp near them will remove all associated goo. There are also big goo blobs which regenerate and goo that is only removable by quest or stays there for eternity. To regain lamp usage you can either destroy the yellow stones that spawned while fighting the boss, walk near a light source like the teleport waypoints or activated blue stone torches, destroy glowing mineral chunks to collect the "points" or upgrade the lamp (progress in the quest for further information). To activate blue stone torches you need 3 charges. The boss will not be enhanced by the purple goo however there are two ways to stun the boss and one method is to clear the goo when it uses a specific attack. The other method is hitting all glowing parts of the body, wich is more like luck than skill. With that knowledge you should be able to get the boss. He drops materials for some characters like Kuki Shinobu who are really good.

And you've already spoken to the lady who upgrades your lumenstone to give you more charges. The lumenstone shards you need pop up on your mini-map whenever you're close. Don't ignore them! You'll need as many as you can get. That's a REALLY tough boss that requires the lumenstone to deal with well.

Yes! Upgrading and using your lumenstone is the key to getting around in the Chasm.

Yeah, the fomo of trying to do a lot of live service games at once is a bit draining - I can only handle Star Rail and Genshin as my daily plays so I can leave myself time to play other non-live service games with friends and stuff; But I do still pop into HI3, ZZZ, and WuWa as I feel able to from time to time, so I don't stress myself out. And I keep up with the story by way of content creators.

Also, Honkai Impact 3rd is the "3rd" of the "Honkai universe series" though the first few games didn't hit it off as much as HI3 did. FlyMe2theMoon was like an...alpha/prologue type game before Mihoyo was a company. Then, there was Houkai Gakuen (Zombiegal Kawaii in the West) and Houkai Gakuen 2 (Guns Girl Z in the West) after they were a company. They didn't do very well comparatively but it has story elements that they built off of for Honkai Impact 3rd's story. That one obviously did catch on and is still going to this day; they somewhat recently put out a "part two" inside Honkai Impact 3rd where it has the updated graphics and UI style now to match the Genshin and Star Rail games as they moved into the next part of their story for it. Per the universe's lore though, technically Genshin Impact is the 4th installment and Honkai Star Rail is 5th of the series as they are all connected bubble worlds via the Imaginary Tree in the Sea of Quanta. The working title for Genshin initially was 'Honkai Impact 4th', but then was changed. And developers have said in past interviews that even though HI3, Genshin, and Star Rail are in the same multiverse kinda situation, they don't want people to feel like they have to play all he games to get the stories of each game, so there are some degrees of separation from them so players can just play whichever game they'd like and not miss anything; but they add in a LOT of easter eggs and lore dumps for those that want to connect the ENTIRE "Hoyoverse" as it is :3 I'd recommend the videos by 'Homu Labs' which explains a lot of the earlier parts of the the Honkai story, like how FlyMe2theMoon and stuff fits in to the development of where the series is today. They are really well made and funny. It is pretty interesting how it all began and there only being 3-6 people that started everything and now Genshin is one of the biggest games out there ^^

This is so interesting! I need to do a deep dive into the Hoyoverse. I wish I had more time to play these games. Perhaps if I ever catch up with Genshin, I can add these to the rotation.

@@rapidpesky yeah for sure! HI3 is a little dense for me currently - and it's hard to play the first half on PC. So I tend to just stay in the Genshin and Star Rail circles - but It's definitely really worth looking into the lore at least. Like, Homu Labs blew my mind back when I didn't know they were connected; and now I can't not see the connections when I play Genshin and Star Rail XD Other lore people I'd recommend is 'My Name for Now', Ashikai, Chill with Aster, Roosevelt, Genshin Bane, or for the really daring, Dawit and Wei; the have crazy theories XD But I'm glad that you're interested regardless - I love your videos ^^

There are definitely a few characters who really are designed to do alot of normal attacks i.e. just hit with your weapon alot. Noelle, Eula, Arattaki Itto, Raiden Shogun, Clorinde, Arlecchino and probably some others all have at least some window of time where you basically want to mash normal or charged attacks for a while. Even Yoimiya scratches that itch if shooting her bow like a machine gun sounds like fun. Edit: Shadow of the Colossus is also one of my favorite games of all time! And that part also reminded me of that game!

Chlorinde is easier if you hold the attack button, Itto mixing na and charged attacks could be confusing. Better examples would be alhaithem, diluc, wanderer, wrio, c6 kaveh, heizou, sethos, Neuvelette. There can be a lot of tech with each of them but their kit is most of the time just mashing na. Also they either deal enough damage with that play style (alhaithem) or almost no damage either way (kaveh). I did not include people like razor and cyno because they have a mini game like chlorinde with pressing the skill button at the right time. And someone like klee, yanfei or hut tao are not included because of canceling attacks and charged attacks can be harder to pull off.

@@soos.mpvier3187 uuuummmm ackshually. I wasnt making pull recommendations. Just the point that there are characters who want to hit the enemy with their sword. Clorinde was the only one I was skeptical about including but she is very fun so I just did it. Im not gonna pick apart your "better examples" but seriously....Neuvillette who doesn't hit things with a weapon at all and has the most boring playstyle in the game. Also C6 Kaveh doesn't exist.

@@Nevergates I also wasn't talking about combat ability or comfortability, just which characters are more brain dead smacking then the ones I criticized. I agree that neuv is boring but he is literally like noelle just holding charged attack.

@@soos.mpvier3187 fair enough. Though I really only ever charged attack on Noelle if I need healing badly, otherwise NA are better for damage unless you've got stonethresher.
