As far as the inversion of bravery and intelligence goes I've come to understand it from soldiers and some people that have to go through hard things it's ok to be scared but you can't let your fear control your life. I feel like intelligent people are smart enough to realize that things like fear or pain are just primitive neuroreceptors firing. I think of it as a mind over matter type of thing. Even Eric Thomas said "you're already in pain why not get something out of it" so as a progression of that if you're already afraid why not try to take some of that power back we evolve over time.
