Scott wouldn't let that happen. Extravagant pause menu and an ability to kill opponents on scripted points in the story is just killing the essense of the series. Ah yeah, you can just go inside Freddy and make enemies ignore you for absurdly long invincibility time. Animatronics literally give a lot of dialogues indicating their current state and I hate this because it gets outright annoying. The original characters were more enigmatic. My idea of fixing majority of issues would be to enforce a remake and reboot of the game that grants animatronics a rangered attack in the form of a literal gunfire and the scary part is that they are using silencers for your average game theory experience. I would really enjoy that if the player was forced to not get spotted by any of them. Judging by the amount of bright locations in the game I conclude that the developers were secretly trying not to get the player too scared. But the fandom mob will still praise the game for the sake of it. I also cannot consider a horror game scary without the player bein at risk of losing significant amount of progress.

There was also a bug that was found by a streamer where if you get jumpscared by a security bit while trying to enter Freddy, the next time you enter him you will ascend infinitely. It was funny as hell

honestly i watched a lot of his sb series and he just seemed. bored. like during the ending comics he was geniunely in disbelief at how lackluster and cheap it was but he was clearly holding back on being too mean

@@TravisBroski i geniunely think they ran out of money for the endings, knew they couldnt use any 3d method because it would take up more memory and then just did some mediocre comics to avoid having to recoup more costs through sales

I felt the same way when i was watching him. Like he was always on THE edge of just quitting and ripping apart on the game and Steel Wool. By the most recent episodes, it really didn't even feel like Mark. It really just felt like he was there for the paycheck, poor dude. All the fun was just gone. The "mark-ness" you know?

I've watched Mark's playthrough so far, and I think his approach to the game is incredibly average. So a TON of people must be having trouble figuring out what to do next.

There's a bug that allows you to pick up the dummy head in Roxy's Raceway a second time and reset the clock to 5:15am, thus allowing you to save. Super cool right? Well sorta, because it locks you out of 3/4 known endings. So that sorta sucks. But if you want to just go around and freely collect items and bags its pretty nice.

The robot head does work, but I encountered the glitch where you can't charge Freddy or call him anymore after that, basically making my whole playthrough trash now🙃

People keep mentioning the Robot Head Glitch, and while I appreciate it's still there, I'd rather not fix a *terrible mechanic* with *another specific glitch* and just have the ability to save again.

well, that would completely remove the hard aspect of staying after 6 am and if you stay it should be harder since you want to destroy the animatronics and to get the endings

usually id say that developers should embrace the speedrunning community and not patch bugs that only speedrunners use and cant be encountered unless you go out of your way to find them. BUT security breach needs to remove jumping

@@iwakeupandboomimarat often these bugs end up breaking other things in the game that might cause problems in regular playthroughs. at least thats a reason devs give to patch a lot of stuff used in speedruns

If you think Mark had some hard times during episode 2, in episode 8, he was at the end of the game. For those who don’t know, the end of the game allows you to leave, fight Vanny, or stay. If you chose to stay and do everything to get the true ending, you cannot save beyond the exit point. Mark spend over an hour with fighting Monty and getting the claws from him, and was working on getting more security badges when he made a mistake at the very end of getting caught due to a double click. So he lost…..ALL the progress he had made before hand and if he wanted to go back he’d have to do everything he did again. Really need to add auto saving bro cause Jesus…. that yell he made hit me hard

Really, giving you the option to get Roxy's eyes before doing the Monty section makes no sense whatsoever if they're going to lock you into the ending once you have her eyes. If they want to let the players choose the upgrade order, don't lock the next mission on the list to a very specific part out of the bunch being obtained. If you're going to trigger the next/final mission once you get the eyes then lock the upgrade obtaining order to a linear order and make the eyes the last on the list.

@@rico-fs1cr probably mainly because they either don't know that's a thing, they think it's not worth their time and/or money, or they don't want to deal with "outsiders" (especially if they can't muster up a good NDA, which would only be case for pretty small companies)

I also wanna add that the storytelling felt a little wack. Like yeah it's FNaF and it's a horror game and mystery adds to the experience, but getting to 6am and having Gregory and Freddy start talking about kidnappings as if they've been discussing them throughout the game is super jarring, since kidnappings are only alluded to in the messages you can find in the duffle bags strewn around the map, meaning it's very possible you won't encounter the bags which have messages regarding the kidnappings. Basically what seemed like an Easter egg now becomes a major plot point And sure it's FNaF and its whole lore is built around that, but the game should be able to stand on its own two feet without you needing to be familiar with the extended lore

Yeah, I get that the deep lore is always supposed to be cryptic, but they literally start talking as if we've been getting plot the whole time. Initially Freddy barely seems aware that he isn't a real bear, but by the end he's aware that children are being kidnapped, a thing WE didn't even know?

I agree, and I think this is the one game where the implications and hidden aspects of the lore absolutely did not work. For a game this big to have a storyline(what little there is) that can be completely missed is a little lame. It’s basically all speculative fanfiction theories at this point. Even the afton ending seemed misplaced and short because ???? Why is any of this happening lol. There is barely any information being given

Also, given that Freddy literally shouldn’t have any knowledge on Vanny at ALL. In fact, NO ONE. SHOULD HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE ON HER NAME UNTIL THE VANNY ENDINGS. I believe there were some cut content that explains some of this but still.

Yeah and what's the deal with the new bots? OK so they have super advanced AI . Why does Chica love pizza so much, why does Roxy have such low self-esteem, why is Monty constantly so violent and angry? There's def too much left to speculation. Like if they're being controlled by Afton, then how much and what were they originally like?

A lot of people accept that she was only introduced as a replacement for Foxy, and since he was so popular she feels like an unworthy replacement, which is why she's always trying to convince herself she's amazing. Monty I have no idea about, it's bad enough to have a massive robot with no handle on his temper stomping around, but to equip him with fence-tearing claws as well? And Chica's just bizarre, like who would programme her to feel compelled to shovel food into her mouth if it fucks with her hardware? If she's being mind controlled, does that mean Afton has a feeding kink? ... On second thought, don't answer that!

I think by making Gregory explaining a hint for himself while looking at the cameras for more than 10 seconds could resolve the problem of the cameras not being used.

Nah people would find that annoying eventually. But if Steel Wool did decide to do that I think Glamrock Freddy would be a better option then Gregory I mean…it is a Fazwatch after all

@@royalpain9281 Yep, and cutscenes every 2 minutes stopping me from exploring. I've never not got to the second town in a Pokemon game until Moon. Apparently they lessen after the second town but I can't be arsed. I don't care about the chavvy enemy Team Skull.

@@Jovviial I get that!! I was genuinely getting pissed off watching his playthrough, and at first I couldn’t figure out why. It hit me later after I cooled off, it was because of the game being in such a bad state. I was getting mad at the bugs and the poor playability of the game. I was genuinely concerned that I was having an aggressive behavioral flare up until I realized that, because the only other time I’ve gotten p.o.ed at mark playing a game was during the original “where’s the blacksmith” video because he was having such a hard time finding the blacksmith (the bit was funny, the search for the blacksmith, not so much).

the amount of soft locks and game breaking glitches are... insane to be honest. however I am glad they are working on patches. Im suprised they didnt have much player testing. maybe they didnt want to delay it further?

I think that they bit off more than they could chew and did not have enough time to execute it. They needed more than 2 years for this, but the FNaF fans were getting antsy. Think about it: the first 4 games came out in one year. 2 years is a long time for the FNaF fandom.

People give Steel Wool too much credit for this game, and Markiplier's play through is the perfect example of that. He plays games for a living, yes, but he's the kind of player that approaches and plays every game in a way your average person would, just coming in blind and trying to have fun with the experience, meaning that bugs and problems he encounters are very reflective of bugs and problems your average joe would encounter. I spent the entirety of his second episode trying to find the exit, and I was just as lost as he was, and almost didn't believe him when he pointed out the exit. 10 other bright, glowing *unusable* doors exist in that level, all of them with neon signs that say EXIT above them, but the one you need to go through is hidden between washing machines down a nondescript hallway. And can we please talk about the no saving past 6 mechanism? By that point in the game, you haven't even played half the game. You still have one animatronic left to beat, and if it's your first play through, chances are you might have saved the hardest (Monty) for last, either on purpose to do the fun stuff first, or just because you happened to play the game that way, like Mark did. Sure, you can do the head glitch, but the thing is that it is a glitch. The intention was that you would have no way at all to save past 6. It's not like other fnaf games where you have to do extra stuff to find out the lore, because those ones are complete experiences, you can play the whole game without doing that. This game stops you halfway through, asks you to quit, and effectively punishes you for wanting to complete the game. The cutscene you get if you choose to quit at 6 can hardly be counted as an ending by any stretch of the imagination. Anyone trying to complete this game is not having fun. I've seen several play throughs from different people, and after the second or third time they die past six, not a single one of these people is smiling or joking or engaging with the game in any meaningful capacity, they're only trudging through it for the video. It's a shame really, because this game does look fun on the surface, and the concept is an interesting one, but what we ended up getting was a halfbaked buggy fetch quest that clearly doesn't want to be played.

You basically put what I thought perfectly into words. As much as I love some of the design (visually) and ideas of this game, it was a fucking trudge to get through all the bugs and some sections.

This summarized my thoughts perfectly. I WANT to play the game, explore every nook and cranny of the world, get all the collectables, and get the secret ending, but its like the game is actively trying to make you not want to play it anymore. I admire the ambition behind the game, and I understand Steel Wool is a small team but god damn guys, you could have put a little more effort into testing and bug fixes.

The animatronics also getting rustier as the game goes on also makes zero sense since why do they look cracked before you even fight em?

@@sunnivaleflair3576 From what I understand, the animatronics start to look withered because of the influence of the Glitchtrap virus. How or why that makes sense I don't know, and I'm not sure it's ever explained in game; I've only heard it explained that way from analysis videos.

Here's some more subtle problems the game suffers from: The animatronics have bare minimum object permanence, if you just stun them and run away, the chase is over, the stun lasts so long it basically kills them, Monty is immune to this thank God. Some of the maps are barely set up with the animatronics in mind. The stage floor is massive so you'd think it'd be crawling with staff bots and all the animatronics right? No. They're barely relevant. Staff bots are way too good at finding the player, and the fact they jumpscare EVERY TIME makes them one of the biggest nuisances in the game. Freddy's upgrades are barely relevant or coherent, why does Chica's screech bash open a new route? That's what Monty's claws are for! And lastly... Fuck man there's no optimizations, it's not even funny. You know how shiny and sleek the models looked in the intro? Yeah that's a myth, they look like they're made of plastic ingame. There's a reason the game's 80 gigabytes and that's why.

I think it would make sense that Staff bots find the player. That is what makes it so challenging; however, the fact that the stars of the game (Chica, Roxy, and Monty), have horrible AI is where I draw the line. Also, they should not be able to teleport anywhere. Each animatronic has their own room in this huge mall, make them actually come out of their room, surround you, and then jumpscare. It should not be that hard to make that happen. As it is, Vanessa goes through walls, make the animatronic actually walk through walls to get to you. It would be a little more consistent.

Fun Fact: the Princess Quest Arcades are LITERALLY imposible on Ps5. You cannot Start them with the Controller. You cannot exit them. You Can get into the first room by attaching a Keyboard, but you cannot progress. That is BY FAR the worst bug for me as it renders an entire ending impossible.

Yeah I guess the console players are not allowed on the lore part of fnaf... Princess Quest is the most important thing in the lore part of the game, actually probably the only pixel minigame that this game has. These little creepy minigames is what every fnaf game needs and are essential, sorry to the console players I guess.

@@AstralSpiff If you go into El Chip's, you can't go inside Freddy until the next hour. If a recharge station puts you inside Freddy and you've been to El Chip's, you can't exit him

EXACTLY what i was thinking! When Mark got lost he called himself an idiot for missong it, but being honest, it seemed like a very hard place to find for no reason! The same with many future missions! This game looks way better than the previous ones, at least to me, but heavens, it is full of bugs...

It doesn't have any set goal guidance except when augmenting Freddy. Those are hand holdingly simple, but literally every other objective in the game has no proper explanation or waypoint so your more likely going to get lost more than once.

my friend played that part a few days ago and I watched a playthrough excluding that part we were both lost, I helped him the whole time but that part is genuinely hard, there's too many bots and you don't know which way to go... mark wasn't an idiot, it was normal to not know since so little info abt where to go is given to you throughout the whole game

Normally in a dark room, it's pretty easy to guide the player because you can just set up a light source where they need to go, that's why exit signs irl are green and light up. This room was filled with lit up doors with exit signs, none of which were the solution. the solution was hidden in the dark. They could have made the door visible from between the washers and had light coming from the other side or just put a light above the gap just to show that it's an area the dev wants the player to go.

I really hate the teleport mechanic. The whole point of hide and seek/stealth mechanics is the player's reliance on their situational awareness. Teleporting breaks that, and ruins immersion. Just add more Staff if you need them to find you quickly.

God, no, don't say that. You might summon more S.T.A.F.F. bots. There were too many of them and it made the game annoying as all hell. A better fix would just be to make better/more aggressive animatronics (tweak Giga Monty or something), or a camera system usable by the security guard qualified to use it (highlight cams Vanessa is using? She already alerts other animatronics to Gregory's position), or placing Monty/Roxy/Chica in the player's vicinity more often (instead of just teleporting when a S.TA.F.F. bot alerts), or making Vanny a threat, or literally anything else.

Few things past fetch quests and everything a S.T.A.F.F. bot is makes me irritated. But, yes, definitely. Adding more of the band around as well as Vanessa and Vanny would do WONDERS.

For me, the worst part of all this, is the fact that you have to use a glitch to save at the end of the game. In games like At Dead of Night, where you can not die until the very last moment of the game, it works because: -It's just 1 level -you only save 4 friends -it's not that hard Meanwhile, in Security Breach: -it's huge -the enemies teleport even when the STAFF doens't get you -there is a ton of bugs -you still have to find secrets, objects and destroy 1 animatronic (and I feel like Monty is harder that Chica) -new mechanics are introduced and it became a lot of trial and error

Well, the good news is that, aside from the bug patches Steel Wool did, they also added some performance overhauls into the game, which includes a single save station in the atrium that the player can use, no longer requiring a glitch to save after 6pm. Steel Wool did eventually come around, as they stated that while they succeeded in making the game harder at the end, it also comes at the cost of fun. They realized the game became more of a "survival/try-not-to-die" game rather than a fun horror game.

I got a different glitch the first time I went in. The geometry didn't load in fully the first time I went in, so I fell down outside the daycare, when we get thrown out. Good thing was the 3 weren't spawned, bad news, I sequence broke the game by walking up the stairs and triggering the moon hour end sequence. But, because I didn't have freddy, I had to die at moons hands

As someone who works with UE4 professionally (if in an intern capacity), some thoughts. Volume at 0: I can't even guess how this broke. Volume should just be a variable pulled from the save file and used when playing back audio. Setting this to zero does not affect the audio playing, only how loud it is. The only thing I can think of is that they are using some wonky form of sound compression and setting the volume before decompression which results in a empty file, but why they would have a system like this I have no idea. Saving: The reason why this happens is obvious. Save files are addressed by names, and presumably the archive the last name used. However for some reason it seems like they forgot to clear that name when a new game is created. Also if a file is called without there being a file, all that will be gotten back is a null object, which the game does not know what to do with. Loading the world: It seems insane, but my best guess is that when entering or exiting freddy the world is reloaded. Why this is the case I am unsure, probably something to do with freddy being physically larger and not playing well with level geometry. Because you can move around in the void, it seems that the ground physics are separate from the level geometry. It could be that they are using the geometry the player is standing on to reference which geometry they need to load. Hence if you are in the air, the game does not have a reference and does not load any level. This could be validated to a degree by getting into freddy while on a counter. Pathfinding: This is something I actually have personal experience with, and its harder to deal with then you might think. The way navigation works is you generate a nav mesh where you want the AI to go. While this can be hand generated, it's likely that they just used a nav mesh bounds. You then tell the AI to go towards the player (its literally one command). However, you don't really want your AI going on tables or counters so you probably don't put nav meshes on top of these objects, and if you do they are counted as islands and you have to manually specify how the AI is intended to get from one to the other. If the AI tries to go towards the player while they are on top of one of these objects, the operation will fail and they will try the next thing on their list, which is wander around. The reason why this is something difficult to solve is because there is no good way of telling the AI where the closest point to the player is. Basically you have to check a bunch of random spots near the player until you find one that is accessible to the AI. This has its own host of problems which are shown later in the video. Damaged freddy: The fact that this was not caught is crazy Freddy opening doors: Silly oversight but easy enough to miss. The way the doors work is there is a box around them. If player touches the box, it checks for the security level, and if its high enough, it opens the door. Now the Devs need to let Freddy get to the player, and they don't really want to teleport him. As pathfinding is already enough of a pain without the level literally rearranging itself (opening and closing doors), the devs just gave Freddy max security clearance thinking that if the shortest path to the player is through a door, odds are that the player is already inside the room. Freddy letting you go through walls: Just lazy. Freddy spawns the player at a fixed point in front of him, and the default collision solver deals with the resulting mess. Easy fix would be to check if the space is occupied, and if it is have Freddy rotate 90 degrees before letting you out. Animatronics spawning out of bounds: See pathfinding. That is why you don't try to set random locations with AI. Results can be unpredictable and likely to cause more issues than they fix.

Congrats, you now have made infinitely rotating Freddy as the player positions themselves between two objects. Something commonly used to help with clipping as well... the simple solution is just say "No room do no allow." The exact thing most games using these types of dismounts follow.

I'm aware that there would be more to it then what I explained, I am trying to strike a balance between technical implementation and laymans understanding. As its 90 degrees, you would have to find a spot with 4 objects, not just 2.

one thing i thought to make cameras usefull is since roxy is such a narcisist, if she sees a camera active she will pose for it or something similar to keep her distracted, it would need some tweaking since completly distracting her would be very broken, but it would be a cool solution to the camera situation

I think a better route would be to let Vanessa use the cameras. She's a security guard, right? Why does a little boy with a toy watch get to use cameras and not her when she was literally hired to use them? Having Vanessa use the cameras could give Gregory a reason to use them to a: know where she's looking, b: hide. If she catches Gregory in the cameras, the animatronic(s) close is/are alerted. Instead of 1.6 billion staff, just use the blonde lady who gets paid to do it. The camera Vanessa is using could be colored (like a green or yellow border or something) and if Gregory uses it, he can't control where it points or if it zooms.

Honestly the knocking over cans mechanic is a pretty good one, A sort of distraction to actually help you beat the level since moon man crawls into the play area after having turned on 3 generators. And I personally feel like him not being able to come behind the desk is also a really nice mechanic so you could gather your thoughts on where the other generators are. While the other things do need to be fixed i think the play area mechanics are pretty much fine IMO

depending on your luck he might just teleport inside the play structure wtihout any generators. Just walking through walls. Not even with the crawl animation. Very funny, and im not sure his AI works when he does it, but watch out lol

My hunch is that the playtesting was done by just the devs. As a programmer, I can speak for experience that, when you are programming something, you tend to test in a way that kinda not breaks anything. That's why is necessary to have, not only people to playtest, but people that can think outside of the box and try stuff no one else thought.

This is why, for my very simple GB-style games, I ask an interested friend who DOESN'T know how the game works and where exactly to go, to playtest after I've made sure you can at minimum finish it, so I know what the clueless audience is likely to do and what needs fixing/changing. I've found repeating cutscenes despite telling it not to if Cutscene Run Variable is TRUE this way, and yeah it's annoying and repetitive but it's useful to have outsiders do it even if they've watched me make and program the game. For this, WE were the playtesters, and we PAID for it. That is ridiculous. They should be paying US for finding their broken rubbish.

One softlock that I haven't anyone talking about: At the beginning of the game theres a part where Freddy goes into the first recharge station. You can actually run in there with him and get yourself trapped. I did this unintentoinally because I was curious and ended up having to redo the beginning part because I didn't save.

Unreal engine actually has a built in way to check if the player is falling or jumping. It would be incredibly easy to have a simple branch statement to disallow certain things (like getting into Freddy) when falling or jumping. They could probably entirely disable the interact prompt when falling or jumping, it would prevent a whole host of potential issues.

From Mark's playthrough, I'd say: 1) Freddy gets stuck too much. It'd be far more consistent if it just triggered a 3 second cutscene and he appeared behind you. 2) the cleaner bots catching you gets obnoxious, they could just make the alarm noise and let you move on with getting your face eaten. 3) the DJ bot chase sequence needs an autosave. 4) the final stuff requiring disabling the save feature is dumb.

I think not being able to save is a great feature, however, auto saves should still be enabled for the last half. Like when Mark completed the golf stuff it should have saved, putting the claws on should have saved, etc. Not allowing constant manual save i think is cool to Amp the fear factor but not when you still have 6 hours left of gaming time just to complete the game and no auto save feature that was stupid. If the ending only had you complete one minor thing I wouldn't see a problem with no save. But you still have like 7 objectives to complete by the end and collectables.

12?? 1 would be enough! Heck the ones coding/making the game very much KNOW how screwed the game was! And industry-wide play tester shortage?? Are you joking? This is a game that they can FOR FREE get fans to play test for them! And why is the industry having a shortage considering play testing can be done from home? Considering how broken games are and all the bad practices going on in the game industry? It is not a shortage just bad developers and higher ups. Making a map/function/enemy/tool in a game, the one creating that "thing" is also suppose to debug and stress test it. How can you code something without jumping in and checking if it behaves as you like it to do? Unless time crush and no care is put into just making sure it is robust and not obviously broken from common easy to image to check stuff that a player might do in the game.... Really there is very few bugs that would not be found from the developers just developing the fundamentals in story or just the game functions in general. The skips speed runners do and possible snags with the characters getting stuck are the only things that the devs can be defended from missing. As anything else are bugs THEY basically did not address in development. It is not a bug it is unfinished! Being able to jump onto stuff and the AI do not know what to do about it is not a BUG. And jumping into the suit pressing space bar is 100% a load bug that developers if even playing there own game would know about. It is "bugs" you find in game projects that are learning how to make a game. Not a huge game in a HUGE franchise! There are less bugs in the free games the community makes got dammit!

@@TheDiner50 This was a massive game by only a tiny indie team, I think it's extremely impressive that the game even came out at all. I heard a saying once that the creator of something is it's biggest critic. They will know nearly every problem with what they are making before anyone else critiques it. However, time and resources are limited, so not everything can be changed. No video game was ever complete, it just reached its deadline. Bugs like these were probably forced to be marked as "known shipables." This game already got delayed a lot, they fought for as much time and resources as we're available to them. They even said that the will have many more big fixes in the coming months. I think people overestimate how profitable FNAF is. The series is hugely popular, but I don't think it brings in a ton of money compared to AAA games. I don't think hiring a bigger studio would've resulted in a better game, I think FNAF needs the indie feel to avoid feeling safe and corporate

For the voice problem, I'd say there should be 2 different voice sliders: Story Voice, and Gameplay Voice. One controls the voices of characters talking as part of the story, and one is for them just walking around saying random lines. This way, you can have them quiet out and about, but still get the story as intended. Also, yeah, make sure you still account for the time it would take to play the sound files even if they're silent.

i think the easiest solution, and one that every other game uses, is still play the sound file, just have the audio be the only thing affected it feels like this game just.. *cuts* the file out if there is no audio, instead of playing it like most other games do, as subtitles pop up for muted sound files in pretty much any other game you can think of

I love Markiplier deeply. But seeing those glitches hurts af. I’m learning about programming and 3D stuff for gaming to make a game myself in the future. If its possible, Steel Wool surely indeed did not do playtest. I showed my teacher to give out pointers on any flaws from Markipliers through. My teacher pointed out all the fixes that are technically mentioned by you. But also, less jump scares from the security bots and more high difficulty in Vanny and Vanessa. Allow to boss battle Afton one on one than him behind a screen. Auto save completed tasks even if you completed the game and want to dive in deeper. Permanently save the gifts and messages so you won’t go back and collect them so the missions pop up. Show the markings on the map that apparently “Freddy marked” on the faz watch. A clearer explanation on where to go. For example the day care. To have a map of where objects are and where are the generators. And why the secret ending the ONLY ending that has CGI? While the others are comic strips? If that had so much time to make that cut scene and where Vanny disassemble Freddy, why not for the others? The list goes on and on. And even show places you haven’t been to or Freddy hasn’t been too. Bcs If you go down with freddy to the room of the endos, he questions himself if there were more freddys before him or he used to be a different animatronic. There’s a lot of background story still not discovered. Ofc a DLC is coming for the game. And my teacher recommends they mentioned Gregorys back story kind of ending or discovery Bonnies body, bcs it’s mentioned the game but it would be nice discovery what happened to it or where is it hidden in Monty’s golf. At least some type of clue. And last detail, they should at least program Monty in his dressing room destroying stuff than just an audio.

apparently there was an unused asset called "vanny presence meter" that would fill up the longer you linger in an area, causing vanny to spawn and then you just have to deal with her while in that area, dont know why it was removed, or maybe the meter was supposed to be an internal thing and hidden but bugged out and never spawned her

Some theories say that all the endings, except for one, are comics because they aren’t the true endings. So the real ending was animated. I honestly kinda believe that since the only animated ending made sense with the lore, so I’ll give them props there. Other than that, it’s really sad to see the game be released like this :/ everything about the concept and the design was so cool. I deeply wish they would’ve thought out the details better and fixed the bugs waaaay before release.

Security Breach could have learn a lot from Resident Evil 2 such as: - Map being quite big but separate it into different parts so they have to do something to progress to another, which wouldn’t confuse players when trying to moving around. - More specific quests, the quests in Security Breach relies on you being able to hear during the cutscene or when Freddy is talking. What if we got interrupted by something and missed that part? Then we have completely missed it and don’t know how to move forward. They should show us where we should go like: “Go to ___ on ____ floor.” - As mentioned in the video, the ability to jump is not necessarily needed. - An AI that is actively trying to hunt you down without the need to teleport like Mr. X, he could be heard throughout the map and it’s horrifying. I’m not saying that Chica, Roxy or Monty should always be chasing you but they should appear in different parts of the map when you have progressed through something. Maybe in small sections they should chase you and you have to hide continuously (they will go on patrol when you are hidden), then when you got out of hiding they will start chasing you again. P.S: This is just my opinion, I know they are different games but RE2 did really well in these aspects and Security Breach could learn from it and change it up a bit.

This can be easily summarized as: If you're making a linear story game, have the players locked into what needs to happen (or at least in the chapter's play area) to continue. If you're making an open world game, reward players for exploration. If you do both at once, the player will only be confused. The game *does* kinda do this with security passes, but players could still enter places they shouldn't be in yet, sometimes even going further away from their vague missions.

@@Bennieboy918 I think that does actually happen like once in the game, when monty bursts through the fence to chase you I think for the first time. some players have found and gone through that fence later on in the game, and there were some pretty cool easter eggs behind it.

I think it would be perfect if they did the following, there were special doors that basically made super easy to go from an area to another, and only animatronics could do it, except by freddy, and would make sense with them adding a scene/voice line or a detail showing that Vanessa removed Freddy's permission, it would solve the teleportation problem perfectly, animatronics having master doors to look for you, and when you got spotted instead of being jumpscared by the guards and an animatronic teleporting behind you they would alert and all animatronics come look for you in the area you are at

As somebody who’s currently at the end of the game, once I realized how impossible it was to beat Monty without a save for me, I went and did my save over again so I could beat chica after 6am. I didn’t do the glitch, and I’ve only glitched it now because I’m collecting items. Past 6am NEEDS a save function. It auto saves at the elevator to Aftons boss fight, but that’s the only place I’ve found a natural auto save so far. Wild how the game is punishing you for wanting to play it.

I just watched where the bot was going and noticed the gap. But I like hidey-holes and that's literally the only reason why I found it. Because I was hiding from a bot in preparation to try an exit door. I wonder who looked at the laundry level and went "Yep, looks good to me!" Like, this is why you get other people to playtest. You made that level so you know how it works.

One thing that really annoys me is honestly the instruction in the game. It'll be so unclear what you need to do with the objectives you're given and why you need to do any of them. It also really annoys me how there are instructive pop-ups like with the upgrades, security badges and weapons explaining what you need to do but those will always cut off voice lines of Freddy or the upgrade computer explaining what you need to do. And can I also just say that seeing the same pop-up every time you find a security badge is so annoying. Like, yeah I know what I can do with security badge level 9, I have been using security badge level 1-8 for hours now.

The missions and objectives are so unclear at times and in combination with the manual safe system that really does cause the player to figure things out by themselves through painstakingly learning it or watching a guide. It's like, I'm getting a security pass and I don't know for what section or for what higher objective it is, but I still get a pop-up after already having collected five other security passes about that it opens a door like who would've thought. Security Breach really treats you like you're dumb but also like you need no instruction at the same time.

I will be the first to admit that there are many flaws in the game. The optimization is bad, it has tons of glitches, and you can soft-lock the game quite easily. However "poor instruction" certainly isn't one of them. 1)You get told exactly what to do and where to do it by Freddy. 2)The objective and location is in your FazWatch if you ever forget what you need to do. 3)There are many tutorials throughout the game, many of which will pop up multiple times. 4)If you aren't sure on how stuff works, you can just read the files(the trash-compactor for instance) Literally the only thing this game could do beyond that is put a massive arrow on the screen with the words "GO HERE" pasted all over the screen showing exactly where to go.

"Stay" means you stay and don't get to save(like it literally says on the bottom of the screen) "Leave" means you leave "Vanny" means you try to stop Vanny by going to her hideout(like Gregory said during the cutscene if you choose this option) It really doesn't take much to figure out.

PC games don't get compressed anymore and it's insane. There's virtually no visible difference between good compression and a lossless file. Hell, pirated games often are HALF THE SIZE of their paid-for counterparts because the people making the game cracks compressed the images and audio of the game to reasonable levels. When fucking PIRATES gets a better game version than PAYING CUSTOMERS you know developers just don't give a single fuck about anything but the money.

5:28 As someone who has dealt with UE4's pathfinding system, a good and simple way to deal with areas inaccessible by the AI (or elevated areas in this case) is to keep track of the most recent location the player was touching the ground. Then have the AI pathfind to this location rather than the actual location of the player. This is simple and easy to implement, but allows the player to navigate the elevated areas without the AI being able to find a valid path and follow them. A better way of handling this that would require a bit more effort is to have the AI chase an entity separate from the player. The separate entity is locked to areas that are accessible by AI and is always trying to get as close to the player as possible. This requires either a lot of math or a good understanding of the unreal engine physics system. I'm a bit disappointed that steel wool didn't find a solution to a problem with a system this integral to their game, especially when they're asking $40 for a 10 hour game. That being said, without even reading the credits, it's clear to me that this team is full mostly of artists. They underestimated the technical challenge of making a game like this work, though not by much. In my opinion, one competent programmer and even a few play testing sessions with friends and family would have had this game in a much better state by now. (edit- spelling)

The DJ music man scene needs to be in third person, imagine how freaking cool that scene would be if you could actually see the Dj chasing you while you evade the obstacles. Sort of like in Crash Bandicoot's chase scenes. If you can't see the Dj there is no way you can tell of he is close, and the fesr factor is completely abolished. Imagine a bossfigjt where you cannot see the boss.

That way you still could have had a "chase" scene, but with the fear factor still intact. It also would have helped with the illusion that he was chasing you the whole time, and not just appearing at preselected points.

Moon prioritising the cans over the player makes sense, because Sun does the exact same thing. It's how you 'avoid/defeat' Moon. You distract it with the cans, and then you kickstart the generators. The Daycare Attendant is supposed to be the same thing as both Sun and Moon, it's just that Moon doesn't behave the way it should.

yeah, I think it was even referred to as "tragedy" at some point, although that could potentially be referring to the comedy/tragedy masks, as in happy sun, sad moon I don't even think that Moon is corrupted by vanny/afton/etc, as why wouldn't it spread to Sun, too (plus it's very different from the rest of the bunch, like getting distracted, dancing around, not having gregory-specific voicelines, or searching for him specifically, etc), I think it's the same as with the Endos, it's something else that went wrong (as you can see in the endos' section wall paintings as if they were supposed to be helping out in the bare form, and then crossed out)

Sun's purpose is to take care of the kids like making sure they don't get hurt by tripping over cans; it makes sense for it to ignore you in favor of the cans. Moon's purpose is to be a guard dog. If you're right in it's line of sight and and it still favors the cans, that's a serious issue. The cans can serve as a distraction to slow it down, but it doesn't make sense for it to completely prioritize them over a possible intruder or escapee.

As a person who works in quality assurance, after a long day of staring at bugs and issues, I love spending my free time playing games, where I expect issues to have been tested and resolved. This is not the quality one should be getting for $40. If I paid that much and started up this hellish thing, only to have more issues than what I face at work on a daily basis, I'd refund instantly. Also when watching ManlyBadassHero's playthrough of the game, during the credits you can see what a shitshow it was... You have people who are listed both as QA and social media specialist, or QA and 2D artist... Everything is all over the place, you'd have a bunch of artists listed then a QA tester, then composer, something else, another QA... Even their credits are a mess. You can tell this game was in production hell.

This game feels like a hardcore love project of a fan dev. Like no food for days level shit. But still a fan game. I expected something much more and much more polished. I cannot justify the 80 gigs of space it takes up. If cleared up and optimised i bet it can easyly be fit in 20/30 gigs.

its all textures. and maybe some models, but most of the space is for textures. Stuff like making a huge 5000x10000 texture for a wall instead of like 5 different smaller textures and tiling them. It's a bit surprising that there isn't any photoreal rocks or anything (that take up huge amounts of space) and it's still 80GB, but eh. Game devs are getting lazy with storage optimization, because they really don't need to do it.

As someone studying Game Design, I can say that this game... is dogshit. It has incredible potential, free-roam is normally great in horror, but the bugs and generally poor design brings it down too much. Just one more year of development could have improved it hugely. This is a great video showcasing some of the biggest issues, and I really hope Steel Wool see it. They're more than capable of making this the scariest Five Nights at Freddy's game ever, they just haven't made it yet.

What baffles me is why they DIDN'T take that extra year. It's not like this is CoD or 2k. FNaF fans would wait another 5 years if it meant getting a finished game. I'm no game designer, but the current release feels like it's still in beta. The map's 99% there, the dialouge is 40%, the AI is functional, and the story is adequate. There are just so many stupid small mistakes that are completely unmissable, like when you boot a save to the Stay/Leave/Vanny screen, you're facing the shutter doors instead of Freddy and they close when the map loads even though they're supposed to be open. Or how Freddy's battery doesn't visibly increase in a recharge station and it takes 3 seconds after you step out for it to update. Or how you can see opened AND unopened present boxes through walls with Roxy's eyes. Or how dialouge begins just before an instruction card shows up on screen. Or how after you beat Monty and you see the cutscene of him falling, the game doesn't warp you to his location during the fade to black, but AFTER. I'd be ashamed if I published something this unpolished.

@@NitroNinja324 i feel like fnaf is so used to how scott used to release the much smaller mainline games, essentially setting a release date so he can release it before then, and some people mightve been pissy if the game wasnt released in a similar, more on-time fashion. plus the game was officially delayed (i think) at least TWICE, to the point where merch came out months beforehand - they mightve not even been allowed to delay the game a third time

They messed up so much it's unreal. The William Afton boss fight especially was terrible. Way too easy and just involves you closing a door once and jumping into freddy. They should have made you hide from him while he chased you or something.

Dude as much as I love the franchise as a whole, this really hurts my heart. Dont get me wrong I love the game, I think it's a breath of fresh air from the traditional point and click games. Steelwool really worked themselves to bone here, you can clearly see it. Maybe not everything in the world that they created is detailed down to the smallest speck of dust, but I really admire how they gave this game the Glamrock flair. When I watching Markiplier play it, probably every episode I think to myself, "Man did no one check this? Was this playtested? That is some poor level design there." That kinda hurt my feelings a bit cause I know that Steelwool really worked hard on this just to play out like that. I solemnly believe that game development should always have the ample amount of time wether it'd take 2 - 4 years (still waiting for Silksong to drop) so that the game itself will play the way it was intended for. Sometimes there will be bugs and exploits but that should be to the degree where it's not really that obnoxious or affect game immersion and gameplay completely. Also I don't want to post online saying "when is it coming out?" stuff like that, cause that'll give more pressure to the devs when there already enough pressure for them. Give them some breathing time cause they can dish out amazing ideas and mechanics with a more stable mind.

mannn i feel the same! It hurts so much to see this brilliant franchise destroying itself by either lazyness, poor time managment, or consumers pressure! I'm never waiting for a new fnaf game, but i'm excatic when one does come out! I absolutely LOVED sister's location, and the hype that i felt is the same as the one i felt when i saw security breach coming out! It's so sad to see what an amazing game security breach could've been if it had been finished correctly! The experience is kindda ruined. Of course games can't have a perfect coding system so glitches happen but at this level? From an unknown indie development team, or a new far cry, why not. But here? To me that shows a serious issues in the managment of the game before it even comes out. (sorry if some sentences doesnt make sense, im not native english!)

The cameras being near-useless could also be remedied by having some requirement to use cameras: Looking into areas you can't normally access without codes, e.g. a doorway with a keypad, and the cameras access an area behind said door. And perhaps progress being made by looking at certain cameras at certain times.

It is actually a wildly known concept, but as far as I understand, never used in most of these large scale, highly-hyped games (Disclaimer, FNaF SB excluded due to declared shortages and bullshit 2021 year). Speed runners ARE phenomenal testers, due to their grasp of game basic mechanics, concepts, and structure. Likewise, many speedies have a deep grasp of game code and a few explore these exploits in order to really check out how games are built from a programming standpoint, in order to trim back every iota of a second for those world records and pathing. And also, speedies are fun to watch break a game into bits. I think though, some companies have a hard time making the job to work relationship work with speedies, due to confidentiality, intellectual property being at risk, and freelance/long-term contracts. I know companies like Steel Wool would appreciate the input from regular speedies, but legality bull shit can get complicated and be another issue with putting the game together.

plus i personally think game developers embracing the speedrunning community is a geniunely good idea just for some added marketability. if you show yourself to be friendly with the people who want to break your game to go fast then it could spread just through word of mouth, and id say some games have geniunely gotten a bigger playerbase through speedrunning booms or devs reacting to speedruns (even tho markiplier played it, smth like poppy playtime as an example)

Some ideas i would like to see added in a future patch, don't know if they are the most creative but still want to share: - when an animatronic is chasing you but you call freddy and jump into him when they are right behind, it would be cool if the animatronic grabs gregory by the leg and you have to click a button quickly enough to liberate yourself. it would also be neat and even comical if they added a voice line of them asking freddy if he saw the kid, and him acting dumb saying he didn't - to kind of fix the teletransportation thing with the AI, whenever a security bot sees you they should add a cutscene where you see whichever animatronic is closest to the location hearing the alarm and quickly running there (for example, roxy could start sprinting in four legs, chica could have retractable skate wheels on her feet, etc) - a more useful map, obviously

That first suggestion is hilarious. It would work because he's gotten out of Chica's grasp before while decommissioning her. Basically flat-out stating that the bots have no object permanence would be great. Then you throw in Moon or Vanessa who _do_ and they take no crap from Freddy. "Freddy! Did you see Gregory?" "Chica! Hello! Er... what child?" "The one with the striped shirt that jumped into your chest?" "I am sorry, I do not know what you're talking about." "Oh. I'll keep looking, then. Who wants candy?"

I have to wonder when they implemented jumping into the game. The degree to which you can break the game with fairly simple platforming makes me think that for most if the game's development Gregory couldn't jump.

The amount of bugs that could even softlock you are what is truly scary about this game. Missions that never get updated. Items disappearing, etc. they worked super hard on the aesthetics but not on the gameplay.

Im glad you pointed out the lack of direction, the whole time I was playing I said to myself, "I wish there was an indicator on where I'm supposed to go" because I had no damn clue how to navigate and got lost most of the time. I love the whole FNAF series but damn I wish they did a better job on this game.

I love how this game ended up releasing in a worse state than Cyberpunk, but hey, Cyberpunk at least had a good and understandable story, and you could beat it without bugs on release, but here it's just so bad that even Markiplier is just restraining himself all the time from telling his viewers the game is kind of in a shit state, and it's not worth $40 because it's such a buggy mess. But on a better note, Cyberpunk ended up getting fixed up a lot, and is way better to play, so this game might end up the same if steelwool will give a damn about it. Help Wanted was good at release, it just could've been delayed to be honest.

I would still say Cyberpunk is a greater tragedy because this wasn't made by a huge studio. It's made by a medium studio. They were/are both bad games but it seems like here they just ran out of money at the end of development. Evident by the huge opening cutscene, but having almost no cutscenes for the end of the game. And lack of testing

@@CrazyManhog Nah, you can't put all the blame on the players. Yes, pressuring game devs to hurry isn't a good idea, but the game developers still made a bad game because of their huge scope. Had they lessened the scope, spent more time on QA and the endings, enemy AI, etc, it would've been a good game.

The only autosaves I know are: 1. Leave/stay option at the front door. 2. Timeout room. 3. Afton elevator.

They actually most likely did catch these bugs in playtesting. when you read the full article they state that they were surprised that bugs they fixed earlier were still in the game. So they DID playtest the game.

Another minor thing that’s probably already been ripped to shreds. The first chase scene is just, painful.. I played it on a PlayStation 4 so maybe that’s why it was so hard, but everytime the Chica cutscene would trigger as soon as it ended I died because it appeared that Monty kept moving or was already to close. Took me about 15 tries. And then the stairs was just unnecessarily hard, but that could be because it takes about a full second to turn around completely on PlayStation 4. Another possibility is I just suck at the game lol

I had the same issue as well for PS5. Retried multiple times because Monty kept catching me sometimes while the cutscene was still happening. Definitely a bug and not just you lol

The funniest thing is how if you try to go into Fazer Blast with Freddy he says that he can't go inside because that would be cheating but most game breaking bugs revolve around Freddy

What is the difference of the situation here? They are both life threatening, and the place is closed anyway, so it doesn't matter if he enters. It just doesn't make any sense.

There's a scene where when you leave the daycare, a bunch of the enemy robots arrive and Freddy says to quickly get inside of him. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if a bunch of people ended up finding that glitch due to sheer muscle memory over the fact that the character does have to climb up and inside of him and they were under the split second assumption that jumping would speed that up.

the amount of artistic detail prevents me from believing the studio was lazy or not careful with the game. its more likely they knew about the problems but did not have the resources or time to fix everything before the (already extended) release date. even with the many bugs i experienced, i really enjoyed the gameplay and hope they can add patches to make the game more polished

Security breach is probably one of the most rushed games I've seen. The trailers and final game are completely different. Vanny gets 2 minutes of screentime. Whatever "lore" that was supposed to be there was scrapped and were grasping at brittle straws to figure out anything. The comic endings look rushed.. just so much. I wouldn't have minded waiting a couple months to a year if the game would've been a least a little more polished

MY biggest question out of everything that happened: Why did they make a release date that obviously they weren't going to hit? Why not make a release date when you're, I don't know, relatively close to release? That way you could still fit in time for advertising and teasing while also having the game in a mostly done state so even if it has to release a little early, it's still a good and mostly polished game whose bugs people could excuse for the sake of the awesome story and gameplay.

The amount of huge bugs are insane, MatPat randomly encountered a bug that soft-locked his game to where he needed to restart the game from the beginning, literally it was just that he couldn't enter the recharge station before freddy get's hauled away by moon man, it wouldn't give him the option to no matter how far back in saves he went, and only got it to work by starting from the beginning. Plus Markiplier managed to use Freddy to open a level 10 door that was unloaded (or non-existant) with a t-posing freddy. Bugs aside, really good video! It's nice to hear someone not just complaining about everything bad about the game, there are things I like and dislike about it, but hearing someone provide solutions to some bugs for once was really nice

Honestly, part of me hopes they keep the release version available to play somewhere. Fucking with the animatronics and the physics engine honestly adds so much replayability to the game. Though I definitely 100% agree that a lot of this shit needs to be fixed in order for the game to function properly as a horror game. Chica shoving her head through a wall and asking you if you want candy 20 times *kinda* breaks the immersion a bit haha

My problem was A: Knowing where to go next is completely reliant on listening to Freddy. I was playing with a group of friends, and we'd be playing and joking and miss what Freddy said and completely lose where we were supposed to be going. B: There are no visual indicators where to go. Best part I can describe is right after the daycare, where Freddy says "Go to the main Atrium" but are we not in a atrium already? There's nothing pointing you to the elevators, we didn't even know they'd open. That's a big thing, the doors aren't visually outstanding, so you don't know what will open and what is backdrop. C: We had bugs on bugs on bugs, being seen through walls, not being able to get into Freddy anymore, getting grabbed from miles away, the game has potential but it is nearly impossible to do anything without something going wrong.

The Moondrop and the cans is seemingly intended because you're making a mess and he has to clean it up because he's a neat freak. It's meant to distract him from chasing you for a moment to get away, as most distractions throughout the game.

When a friend of mine made a mod for Half-Life, he asked me to play test it. So in addition to playing his mod I also made it my goal to try and get myself stuck, break the game, etc. I did so to help make sure his final upload was as bug free as we could find (it was also too hard on Hard difficulty). With all of that in mind, a couple of play testers for this game with the same mind set could have discovered so much before this final release of a mess.

I notice a lot of people just ignore how Monty's animations sometimes just stop working, which I suspect is connected to him occasionally blasting off at hyperspeed. I've seen this happen to some degree on most of the playthroughs I've watched, so it can't possibly be that rare.

I don't think a lot of people see it because he's a rare enemy, unless you're doing his questline. He appears in only a few places outside of his questline (Daycare Theater, spawned in by Sun in the Daycare lobby, spawned in by presumably Vanny in Superst-Arcade). I can't think of any other place that's not Monty-centric that has him in it. It's mostly Chica and Roxy. Which is a shame because he was the second scariest character in the game because of his stun immunity. (First place is Moon, obviously)

I quite like the game. It's a new and refreshing take on the franchise and most things from the visuals to the voice acting to the music are really good. But the amount of bugs, glitches and mistakes this game contains is absolutely laughable. I'm genuinely considering not even buying the game (because I have a pretty low tolerance when it comes to games not working) and that thought makes me a bit sad, considering that I actually like the game and the whole fnaf franchise...

i completely agree. i really enjoyed this game and i love theorizing about the lore and stuff, but the massive amount of overlooked and honestly stupid mistakes there are in it really just put me off of it. its such a cool concept, but it feels like there was no preparation whatsoever for releasing this game and its so frustrating because we all expected so much higher.

I feel the same way. I've seen some people play through it, and I haven't gotten through a single video without several frame drops and bugs. Honestly though, I feel very bad for Steel Wool. They're a small team, they mostly worked during a pandemic, the project was a bit too ambitious for them, and they had to meet their deadline. I blame whoever it was that forced them to rush the game out. I don't know if it was the companies or the fans (I assume it's the former), but either way, they should know that consumers generally want a finished product. From what I've seen from the game, I think Steel Wool still did care and I'm glad that they're patching it soon.

4:45 I've programmed a thing or two and that solution sounds... dubious at best. I very much doubt that the solution is just copy pasting the entry code and adding it when in the air. That said, most games- to my knowledge- keep track of whether you're jumping/in the air or grounded. Additionally, most games prevent certain actions of being done when not grounded. Assuming this game tracks whether or not you're grounded, they just need a line of code along the lines of "if Gregory is not grounded: do not enter Freddy."

I think with the jump problem that they should add triggers that give you jumping, for when it is required and take it away when unnecessary like the box climbing into one of the vents. Add a trigger before the boxes and once Gregory gets in the vent or even out add a trigger that removes the jump action. Edit: a little bit of clarity :)

manual saving being disabled after 6am is really dumb to me i understand the game needs to be more difficult as it progresses but it seems like such an artificial way of increasing difficulty to the point where as soon as you get near the end and die there's not much point of carrying on

The moon is definitely intended to clean up the cans - as there're special voicelines that play whilst doing so. The reason why is because he can go into the play area after 3 generators are activated, and to balance that out, he's able to be distracted completely by the cans so he stays out of the play area while you find the other generators.

@@AstralSpiff yeah, i personally didn’t have too many problems when i first played the game- i do think they need to make directions more clear but otherwise the actual intended game is great. I’m personally really excited for future DLC because there’s quite a bit in the trailers we didn’t actually get to see in the games that could really expand on Vanessa’s character, and hopefully by then a lot of those bugs would have been ironed out and it would be extremely enjoyable

People keep saying that the fans are to be blamed because they pressured steelwool in releasing the game and stop the delays. I have never seen anyone complain about the delays of this game. Contrary even, every comment I've seen before its release were glad that it's being delayed because it gives the developers more time to actually polish the game.

Anyway, even if fans were begging for the game to be released early, if Steelwool knows their game is unfinished then it's up to them entirely to ignore the people who have no idea about the development of this game and be resolute in their decision to keep the delay. It's like if you have kids in a candy store and they're demanding to have a bit of candy, but the confectioner still just has a boiling hot lump of sugar. And instead of saying "No, you have to wait, it's not ready yet", you say "oh alright then, here it is", and hand the kids a glob of sugar. Sure, some kids would probably like that, but most will realise it's missing something.

@@emstink The analogy is a bit off, IMO - It's more that the candy was very near finish, but was still hot enough to burn. Depending on how you eat it, it can go down perfectly fine or burn your tongue. This game isn't exactly a big steaming glob of sugar, but it's a few steps away from being one!

this is a general issue with game development, but seriously, after youve delayed the game once, you are only gonna get criticized for rushing the game if what you produce is still hot garbage. when a game gets like 10 delays fans almost always notice the time and effort put into the game when its finally up to standard. this game could have gone another year in the cooker and would have had a healthy enough development time of 3 years. 2 years is really impressive for this, as a small indie team especially, please get it working before spoiling it next time, please.

I think a simple fix for the cameras would be to have the security bots in less frequency but have they drag you to one of the animatronics. And to have ALL the robots not teleporting so that you have to plan your route in advance and periodically check the cameras. This would also emphasise the stealth aspect of the game.

I find it funny that Vanny is supposed to spawn more than once bc she has a meter but its already broken so she never spawns except when its scripted 🤣 I'm not mad at the game, I love it so so much and the bugs never seem to bother me

I can tell she isn't exactly polished too from her movement and having like.. one voice line while chasing you which is a bit upsetting but hey I'm not mad by it :D Oo nice ty for the exact amount! @@werewolfpoison You could probably have a "hardcore" mode or something where you have to move through each area quickly, or else Vanny comes after you. That would be a way of still using the mechanic without making the main game too hard, or too punishing for explorer types.

While this video is cool, the creator _(understandably)_ doesn't seem to have any understanding of what could've caused these major glitches, so I'll try and make educated guesses: *Volume 0% bug* This one seems pretty clear. Instead of _actually_ lowering the game's voice volume to 0%, the 0% setting appears to outright remove voicelines entirely. This can sound smart from a developer's POV, but if certain triggers are set up for "when this voiceline finishes", yeah that's gonna break shit. *Playthrough save bug* Not that complicated at all, just a matter of save priority. A lot of games with save states can actually behave in a _somewhat_ similar way, though those games usually prompt you to pick which save you'd like to load from, not distinguishing between playthroughs. I agree that an autosave at the start of the game would be the obvious solution. *Jumping while getting inside Freddy* This is obviously a _very_ strange bug so I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but _MY GUESS_ is that the game's tracker of Gregory's position for asset de-loading _thinks_ he is continuing upwards along his jump trajectory while getting inside Freddy (or some other bug in a similar vein) thus deloading the PizzaPlex because the game thinks you don't need to see any of it. *AI vs elevated surfaces* I definitely agree with the "no jumps" solution. Other games absolutely exist _(eg. The Long Dark)_ that get by without jump buttons perfectly fine and this feels like a problem created by developer inexperience, adding things like a jump button simply because "that's a normal feature most games have, so we have to have it, right?" and _not thinking_ about elevated surfaces when first designing its enemies. _(though personally if I was Steel Wool and a jump button needed to be implemented- I would suggest most props being designed with simple destructability so animatronics can walk through them, and a reach so animatronics can reliably grab you off countertops)_ *Broken Freddy won't disappear* Yeah, this is a fairly mundane bug that really needs to be patched up. Especially because from what I've seen of these model meshes, the animatronics are _insanely_ overdetailed in polygon count with no regard for optimisation. A perpetually loaded cutscene quality NPC is an optimisation nightmare. *No invisible walls preventing you from jumping over barriers* This is a REALLY major level design oversight I really can't understand at all. The first thing a level designer should casually try is trying to jump over their obstacles after placing them. *Lack of direction/Cameras being useless* Yeah, this is more of a game design issue. I think the trail idea is a good concept that would be fairly simple to implement for some mission clarity, though TBH. I personally don't fully understand why the developers didn't just commit further to the game's nonlinearity though, instead of this half and half approach. *Freddy/animatronics can open doors* I'd actually argue the enemy AI being able to open locked doors is also a pretty serious issue _(even if it's less likely be exploited)_ and yes, it's ridiculous. I don't understand why there'd be _ANY_ scenario where the enemy AI needs to open a locked door and there are better ways to handle Freddy's spawning that could prevent him from spawning behind locked doors. *Animatronics teleport out of bounds* This is pretty clearly IMO a side effect of how many areas were scrapped from Security Breach/how rushed the game generally was. These surfaces clearly still have navmeshing (and are therefore valid teleport locations) even ridiculous ones like the ledge of that fence. More time polishing could've taken care of this easily. More importantly, IMO from a game design AND overall quality perspective, it'd make far more sense to spawn them in a pool specific locations defined for individual rooms instead of dynamically based on navmeshes. That's just my amateur look based on the footage though, with no knowledge of how Security Breach is specifically coded other than it being UE4.

As someone who has knowledge of programing in UE4, most of your guesses are not that far off. Volume: This I have no clue about, your guess is as good as mine. However the implementation you described would be very atypical. There is an option to adjust the volume of an AIs speaking, and they use it to change the volume for anything other then 0. To write a special case for zero would be odd (especially since subtitles still seem to be on). Saving: Nailed it Jumping: Again, very cursed. The implementation of loading seems to be manual "chunk" loading, so its not likely to be a distance issue. My theory is that they swap the level for some reason (perhaps level geometry has issues with freddy) when swapping in and out of freddy. AI pathfinding: This is just laziness on the devs part, though it is an easy mistake to make. The AI has a list of things it can do, and it always tries to do the top one. In this case "if see player, move to player". Problem is that there is no navmesh (or at least its not connected) on the elevated surface, so the "move to" command fails, and the AI does the next thing on its list, which is likely "patrol". Animatronics opening doors: This actually has a very good reason to exist, though the devs did not fully think though their implementation. Pathfinding is hard, and the last thing you want to do is make it harder by having the navmesh change every time a door is opened or closed (the AI has a hard enough time just dealing with the locked security doors). As such, the vast majority of the doors don't exist for the AI (otherwise we would have the same issue as we do with elevated surfaces, except now with doors). The door is just a collision box that detects when something enters it and checks if they have a valid security level. If they do, they open the door. As you don't want your AIs to get stuck on a door they can't see, the simplest solution is to just give them max security clearance. Animatronics teleport out of bounds: Based on the quality of the navmeshing, I am guessing that they are just using nav mesh bounds then making there own navmesh. A navmesh bound is basically a giant box that will generate a navmesh on any valid surface inside of it. Being a giant box, its very easy to grab bits of geometry you are not intending

in regards to the enemies opening locked doors, the reason they can and gregory cant is because you need to find security clearances. the doors aren't "locked," just inaccessible to the player until you gain clearance. the animatronics have free roam of the facility.

For the locked doors thing, I get why most doors would open for the animitronics but doors that require butons inside the room to open for the player yeah noooo... I belive in the first or second part of Matpats livestreem he gets past chica to get to the point where you upgrade your pass and then Chica just birsts into the room out of nowhere opening the door to get to you like.... Though I do still commend steel wool for making a game this good.

the freddy jump enter glitch really is a weird one and i assume the specifics are hidden somewhere behind the actual code for getting inside of freddy. however another guess that i have is that when entering freddy, it will instantly remove gregory, then give control to freddy, but ig for some reason when jumping, maybe gregories position briefly resets to nil coordinates, unloading the whole map if nil coordinates are far enough away. really dont know a lot about making games rn but this is my best shot. what i dont understand though is why freddy doesnt then take over those duties and reload the map. what makes most sense for both theories is that large chunks of the map are loaded at once, only separated by elevators to each floor, then, regardless of if gregory moves, or teleports away, your whole vision would disappear in an instant, rather than wipe away as you go further away. this also makes a lot of sense since you dont seem to able to load a new area without exiting freddy, meaning that gregory is always around to load a new area. theoretically this means that pressing an elevator button as freddy, would not load the new area, unless there are secondary safeguards to always load a new area when you are travelling in an elevator.

In regards to the animatonics being overly detailed, in Mark's playthrough there's a point where the camera clips into Chica's head after he gets into Freedy. An entire Endo head basically is rendered, despite the fact that there's no part where you'd see the whole thing. I'm pretty sure that even after Chica gets destroyed by the compactor that you don't see that much of her Endo's head, so...why is it rendered? Are ALL of the animatronics' heads fully rendered inside like that? Are their entire Endoskeletons rendered? Surely that can't help with optimization if so?

not super familiar w playtesting but im guessing developers tend to prioritise bugs like hard crashes, unintentional save data deletion, game breaking bugs, etc over things like ai being wonky. unfortunately security breach still has game breaking bugs so idk what happened there

I definitely agree with the notion of just removing jumping, they'd just have to double check and make sure that doesn't break any existing steps.

I knew how the AI Vision system worked the moment I watched someone avoid detection by jumping on a table. There are better techniques that would fit this style of game much better, but I'm surprised at how well this works nonetheless given the simplicity of it. I can easily see the developers testing this in a flat room with simple obstacles, giving it a thumbs-up, and never questioning it again.

9:53 I watched my friend fight against Monty in his boss fight, and she didn't know what to do so she panic called on Freddy and Freddy just spazzes out and floats throughout the entire boss fight area in the scaffolding; Running, clipping, and teleporting into the trees, the railing, and even following up right behind Monty as he chases you!
